Room number 11. The place was good but till 2:00 AM was not possible to sleep because of the loud music coming from the Irish pub Close to the Room. From 4:45 AM was not possible to sleep because of the loud Train´s noise every 20 minutes. For People who don´t need to sleep the place is perfect for its Price.
Casa 69 is not far from the centre but in a neighborhood that is not safe to walk around alone After sunset and there are no places to eat except for junk food at an irish pub or pizza hut. The room offered on Airbnb is very noisy as it is at the entrance and close to the street and the irish pub puts the music super loud until late at night.. and people come and go all night long. From six in the morning the staff makes also a lot of noise. The wifi was also not working well in the room..Last but not least, the host offered me help to get a taxi early in the morning but in the end he did not show up... Apart from the night guardians, the staff was not that pleasant.
It was not what we were expecting. We requested for their driver to pick us up at the airport, it was an extra fee but we wanted to make sure we got to the hotel safely. The driver never showed up. When we called to ask about the driver, they said he didn't pick up the phone. We ended up taking a taxi and the place was hard to find. Our taxi driver was driving in circles trying to find the location. We finally found the hotel and checking in was another issue. I had made the reservation more than a week ago and they could not find my reservation. Luckily, I had taken screen shots of my confirmation. When I went to take a shower the tub was dirty. You could see hair in the drain! The drain was clogged and by the time I was getting out of the shower the water was up to my ankles. Staff sould be more considerate to guest and tourist. They did not know that I speak Spanish and I overheard them talking badly about other guest to each other.
Good area to be in for a quick stop over in San Jose. Met basic needs for 1 night, felt safe, and enjoyed walking around nearby Escalante neighborhood, but wouldn't want to have an extended stay. Casa 69 is a true hotel / bed and breakfast - don't recommend for those who prefer a more personal, Airbnb experience such as myself.
We stayed a couple of nights at Casa 69, which is a very nice place. Our room was small, but very clean, we had all the comfort. The location is excellent, 5 mins away from downtown. Donna was a gracious host, she even helped us booking a last minute combo trip to Poas Volcano, which was excellent. We love dogs and Donna's fury children were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was basic, fresh fruit and baguette, coffee and juices, but for only $5 they made us eggs and bacon (delish!)
