My partner and I spent two lovely nights at Casa 69. Yes, it is a little noisy with the train passing so close but it actually didn't bother us very much. We loved the decor of both our room and all of the common spaces. The cats are great -- there are a lot of them so if you don't like cats or are allergic this may not be the place for you. We utilized Casa 69's driver who picked us up at the San Jose airport and brought us directly to the front door for $25. He was very friendly and we had no problem finding him at the airport. I could see how you might have a problem finding the place on your own but once you get there once it's very easy to find your way back. The complimentary breakfasts were ok -- fruit (papaya, pineapple, watermelon and bananas), coffee, french bread with jam and butter and fruit juice (seemingly made from the same fruit they serve.) You can buy more substantial items like scrambled eggs and bacon, gallo pinto (beans and rice), pancakes or yogurt for $5-$7. The staff were nice and friendly and most spoke good English. And they were nice enough to let us leave our luggage with them for half a day after we checked out for no additional fee.
Our room smelled a little musty but I imagine it must be hard to keep things dry in the very moist weather (it rained both days we were there in the afternoons.) The in room safe didn't work (I think it was missing the batteries but we weren't worried about the safety of our belongings. The place seemed very secure -- you get a code to come through the front gate and you have a key to your own room. While there seemed to be about 10 units or so we didn't see too many of the other guests. The bed was a little hard for my tastes but after the long day of travel from San Diego I slept well.
It was a fairly short trek down to the museums, shopping and other sights. We felt safe walking alone even at night. We ended up taking the staff's recommendations on a couple of places to eat -- The Station (El Estacion) and Limoncello. We were unimpressed by both but they are very close to the Airbnb. I would recommend to stray a little further though.
All in all we had a wonderful stay at Casa 69. We would definitely like to come back and stay there again so of course we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cute, comfortable place close to downtown San Jose. Thanks Casa 69 staff! Pura vida!
Due to a booking issue we couldn't stay at Casa69. Alma, (the lady that runs the reception) was great and provided a quick solution to the problem.
Lovely BNB. Our stay was short but very comfortable. The room was perfect for my boyfriend and I and the staff was kind and attentive.
The place was just as anounced, it is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre, cleand and the staff was very helpfull.
Very comfortable stay for a reasonable price. This lodging was also very convenient and within walking distance to downtown San Jose. Lovely and friendly staff. Would definitely come back!
