Casa 69 is a very colourful and cozy hotel. I only stayed here for a night so I didn’t get to explore the neighbourhood very much. The service was great and the breakfast was delicious. My room was clean and the bed was comfy. I had difficulty finding the hotel and like other reviewers mentioned, the location is a little sketchy but inside the casa, I felt very safe. I also liked how I could make a free call to the US or Canada too! I’d definitely stay here again if I was to visit San Jose.
We spent our first night in Costa Rica at Casa 69. We were a little leary at first as the neighborhood looked a little dicy. It is located right beside a bar which you could hear into the wee hours but not too loud. We felt completely safe within the casa. They also had a safe. Breakfast of fruit, jam and bread, juice and coffee are included. The staff are friendly and the room was lovely. Would highly recommend.
Well located and clean rooms. There was a very friendly atmosphere in casa 69. Breakfast was also a good surprise! Only drawback was the noise of the train passing nearby. Overall good experience.
Amazing place! We were so glad we stayed here. Our room was enormous, with a huge, super-comfortable bed, and really nicely decorated. We stayed in the secure annexe across the street, with rooms behind a leafy little courtyard. Everything is no nicely done there, from the security to the verdant gardens, and we appreciated being able to use the printer as a favour. Donna also very kindly booked us a really nice cab driver to the airport, and recommended a terrific local restaurant, tin ho, for our first night. This place is run with so much care and commitment - way better than many posh hotels I've stayed in!
Worst night ever on Airbnb! Rooms spotless and well appointed BUT very difficult to find with current instructions and secondly noisy beyond belief! Followed address to 25a and walked up and down for 1 1/2 hours asking two taxi drivers, policeman who phoned station and numerous locals. On third try to contact hotel they finally answered. It is just off Avenida Central next to the Nicaraguan Embassy on an unnamed street. The receptionist thought our long hot walk was very funny and said it happens all the time. Why not make the instructions clear!
Please note Casa 69 is surrounded by 4, yes 4, music bars who compete all night. The street outside is full of screaming clients and revving cars. In room 16, the annex, there is no internet, no contact with reception, no "sleep machine", the windows and doors do not shut, including the front door. The bar 2 m from our room closed at 1.45, the two hard rock bars closed at 2.30am. I know because I was awake for the whole night! The fact that despite advanced notice no concessions were made for my gluten free diet without payment, the train runs close by from 6 am to 9pm at night, and they put the whirring minibar next to the bed all seem minor complaints...
