This studio is really quite lovely, it's small and compact with everything you need. The best thing about it was the location! Right next to Rue de Rivoli which is basically like the Oxford Street of Paris, it has Zara 2 minutes away too! And you could walk to pretty much anywhere from here or just jump on the metro, all the sights like arc de triumph and Eiffel Tower were about 10-15 minutes away on the metro. Would definitely stay in this place again!
It's a very proper description of apartment which Karl offers. It's equippped with everything needed for daily life. My parents came back very satisfied. They lived there for a week and they are non-smoking- the smoke was not bothersome for them. A lot of tourist atractions are very close to Karl's apartment so they don't even have to buy ticket for metro. It's like 10-15 minutes walk to most important such as Louvre or Cathedra Notr Dame.
The neighborhood is beautiful, a lot of restaurants and caffes also small shops where you can buy things for breakfast for exemple.
My parents don't speak english very well and it wasn't any problem for Karl. I was a little bit affraid, but he take care of them when they needed.
One day they wanted to cook beef steaks and it appears that there are no knife proper for steaks. Karl bought them and bring to the apartment. So he reacts very quickly when something needed.
I highly recommend this place and the host! :)
This was a great, classy little apartment in a lively neighborhood of the Marais. The photos were accurate - it's small but efficiently set up, with a small kitchen with washer-dryer, and a bathroom, both off the main living room / bedroom. There was a bit of cigarette odor from a downstairs neighbor, as other reviewers have said, but it wasn't very noticeable or bothersome.
Right outside the building, you're literally 20 feet away from cafes and restaurants (which can mean some street noise but makes for a great neighborhood), and you can walk all over the Marais, full of tons of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. You're also a block away from the Pompidou Center, the main modern art museum in Paris.
Karl was very responsive, emailed me to check-in during my week's stay, and promptly fixed a burned-out lightbulb when I emailed him. Good place!
We loved staying at Karl place. It was very clean and comfortable. We were within walking distance of pretty much everything we needed or wanted to do. Karl was very welcoming and emailed us often to make sure we were having a great time. The neighborhood was very safe and the boulangerie down the street was amazing. It was a perfect vacation and I would strongly recommend this apartment for any vacation in paris.
The apartment was very easy to find and was very central. It was exactly as described as very clean. It was also lovely and warm, even in December we hardly needed to turn the heat on at all. Thanks for a great stay!
Molto pulito e molto ordinato.
-good location, easy to get everywhere and nice surroundings
-the apartment has everything you need, in terms of kitchen appliances, adequate bathroom, good TV etc
-Karl, although not there to let us into the apartment, was very helpful when we encountered some issues during our stay, He really did try to make our stay as good as possible.
-the apartment stinks of cigarette smoke. We discovered that this is due to a lady on the 2nd floor who chain smokes, and the smoke travels up the vents which exits out the fan/vent in the bathroom. As we are non-smokers, this was a huge issue for us. If you are a non-smoker and sensitive to cigarette smoke, i would recommend finding somewhere else to stay.
-very small tight stair case to get to apartment. If you have huge bags, or are particularly frail, this may affect you. Was not a huge issue for us.
Overall, if you are a smoker, or you can handle the smell of cigarette smoke, then this apartment will be more than adequate for a short stay in Paris
This little place was almost perfect! It was stylish, very clean, and well-appointed with many clever furnishings that make the most of the small space. The neighborhood and location is so good, and I found the old building and the lively street to be quite charming. Karl was kind, responsive, and helpful in all correspondences.
I did notice the cigarette smell from the downstairs neighbors. I'm fairly sensitive so it was a bit bothersome, and it definitely seemed to be the worst near the bathroom vent in the apartment, as others mentioned. Despite this, I would still consider returning to this rental in the future, since everything else was so great.
