room. The kitchen in the main house is available for any cooking needs and includes oven, stove, and microwave. Your
reservation will include a continental breakfast in the morning.

The Cottage is a detached building which is part of a small family sheep ranch near the top of Sonoma Mountain. The ranch is
located near several Sonoma/Napa wineries and the town of Petaluma, California. Petaluma is a very picturesque river town
founded in 1858. The town has several excellent restaurants and a fairly active night life. Petaluma is approximately 8 miles from
the ranch, about 25min drive down Sonoma Mountain.
Bike riding and hiking are very popular activities on Sonoma Mountain. The road to the ranch is itself a popular bike route but
should only be attempted by advanced riders. You climb approximately 1,300 feet vertical in 5.5 miles. I'm a cyclist so would be
able to give several recommendations for incredible routes within a 45 minute drive from the ranch.
This is a rural location and thus common sense must be used. We are very much in nature here, which means besides peacocks, wild turkeys, deer, fox, eagles we also have the occasionally coyote, mountain lion and rattle snake. Coyote are never a problem for humans but do go after the springs lambs. You'll likely never see the mountain lion as they are very private. rattle snakes do show up occasionally, usually 2 or 3 times a year, we have never had a problem with people or pets but sometimes I will have to remove them from the area of the house. If you would like more information on the wild life I'd be happy to address any questions.
Like most areas of California we need to be very careful about fires. I limit any smoking of any kind to the area around the outdoor fire pit. Please don't' smoke anything inside the house or cabin as well.
If you would like to cook your own meals you are welcome to bring food and use my kitchen in the main house. I'll have coffee, espresso and tea here for the mornings as well as most spices. any I'd be happy to answer any questions about the setup here.
David (Gavin's Dad) was very excellent host. He made us delicious smoothies in the morning and excellent tea. The house very well kept and is great if you have pets. There is a good selection of books in the "library." the guest house is very spacious and he even let me plug in our Chevy Volt (provided we set the timer to start charging after midnight). The house is short drive to downtown Petaluma while still being secluded up in the hills. I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting the area
Gavin's father David was an amazing and very welcoming host: he gave us precious advice converning wineries, told us funny and interesting stories about Sonoma Valley and let us cook in his kitchen. We had an great stay in Sonoma in this beautiful place, thank you very much!
Gavin's father (David) is the owner of the property and runs the AirBnB. He greeted us the first day and was very welcoming. He is very laid back and easy going. The location is beautiful and truly breathtaking with the views, animals, hills, and stars at night.
We had a wonderful stay. David, Gavin's father welcomed us an really made my husband and I and our two kids feel at home. The accommodations were exactly as described and were very nice. The sheep farm was a wonderful place to stay with the kids as they enjoyed all the animals that were there and were even able to help out, which really made our trip very special. The property is gorgeous and has wonderful views. You can go for some really nice walks without even leaving the property. It is nice and remote but still quite close to Petaluma which has some great places to eat and hang out. We can't wait to go back!
We recently moved to N. Cali for work and needed a base whilst looking for more permanent place to stay. This cabin high on the hillside, just on the outskirts of Petaluma, was ideal. Our hosts made us feel right at home and were always warm, welcoming and helpful. The cabin was as described (somewhat basic) but quite spacious and comfortable with high ceilings and lots of windows and light. And we could stay with our two cats!
This mountain top retreat is ideally situated, offers amazing views, warm hospitality and even a fire pit! Would love to stay again and would recommend to anyone.
