The Space

Renovations are complete! Please scroll through the pictures to see:
- A new on-demand water heater for unlimited hot H2O!
- A privacy fence that gives guests more space of their own.
- A carport-type cover to protect the Airstream, guarantee to keep it dry, and keep it cooler in the summer.
- New, more powerful, electric heaters that will team with the propane furnace to keep it toasty inside.
- A new, "regular" toilet. Installing this allowed us to remove the blackwater tank, and all of the sometimes-unpleasant odors associated with it.

Introducing a unique and wonderful way to experience Seattle! Have you ever wondered what those cool, retro, 60's-era Airstreams are really like on the inside? If so, you've come to the right place!

Welcome to our Artsy Airstream Retreat: a bright, cozy, artistically renovated Airstream trailer that combines the comforts of today with the efficiency and vintage elements of a bygone era. As a 23-foot trailer built in 1965, it's charmingly small with just 170 square feet of living space. Hand-painted murals grace the walls, which are bistro white and calming cerulean blue in color.

The trailer is centrally located in North Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood, very close to Greenlake. Easy access to I-5 and local bus lines; a 10-minute drive to downtown. By bus, we are 12 minutes to the University District and 25 minutes to downtown. In 5-15 minutes, one can easily walk to coffee shops, bars. A slightly longer walk will take you to Safeway or QFC. 20-minute walk to Greenlake. Bike everywhere easily!

The Artsy Airstream Retreat has all the conveniences of a hotel room and more: kitchenette with gas cooktop, kettle, microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge, all necessary dishes and silverware; and free, secure Wi-Fi. The NEW electric wall heaters plus powerful propane furnace and NEW on-demand water heater keep the place cozy in the winter, and the NEW canopy plus window air conditioner make the Airstream a pleasant summer hideaway. There is also an extremely space-efficient bathroom with a small shower and "regular" toilet, so you'll be totally self-contained!

Two people can stay here comfortably; a third guest is possible. There is one firm, full-sized bed, plus a twin-size air mattress for an extra third person or child (the dining table and two chairs fold up conveniently to make floor space for the twin air mattress, if needed).

A few things to consider as you contemplate the amazing Artsy Airstream experience:

-Though we've done our best to maximize the efficiency of the trailer's 170 square feet, there are some tight spaces, such as the shower stall and the passage between the bed and the bathroom. You should be very comfortable with the person or people who are staying with you!

- While there are wall heaters, a furnace, and a skirt designed to insulate the floor, the floor can be chilly, so we recommend bringing house slippers or toasty socks.

- All Airbnb guests must sign a liability waiver upon arrival. (The Airstream contains a propane gas detector, smoke alarm, and fire extinguisher. It is renovated to code, and we check all systems regularly.)

- We do not allow pets in the Airstream.

We look forward to hosting you at the Artsy Airstream Retreat!

  • Though our stay was short, it was a wonderful experience! Kevin and Monica were extremely helpful from start to finish with our stay at their fantastic airstream. It's a perfect location and they provided several great places to visit within walking distance of their place.

I'd absolutely recommend that anyone stay here if you get the chance, you'll always remember it!

  • I chose this place in part because it was near people that I was visiting in the area, and I wanted a place of my own to stay. Cute and cozy Airstream. Comfortable bed. Kevin and Monica were gracious and accommodating hosts. Monica left some wonderful home-made bread for me one morning -- much appreciated! Overall, a very pleasant experience.

  • Stay here!!!! In fact alter the dates of your trip if you have to. It is THAT cool. The hosts have paid attention to every detail of the air bnb process and in the restoration of the artsy airstream. They are friendly and attentive while totally giving guests privacy. Kevin recommended a great neighborhood called "Ballard" to hang out in and we loved it. Your friends will be jealous when they see your pictures.

  • Kevin was very responsive to my initial query and helpful in providing information about nearby resources. I arrived late and left early, and they were very nice about accommodating this.

The Airstream itself is fantastic, well kept, cute, totally unique and overall a terrifically fun and cozy place to spend some time. The bed was comfortable, and the place stayed warm through a rainy night.

The neighborhood is nice, and easy to get to local stuff, as well as the University and downtown, either with a car or public transportation.

Many thanks to the hosts of this wonderful little gem.

  • Our stay at the Artsy Airstream Retreat was great! We were on our honeymoon and Kevin and Monica were very helpful in giving us directions and suggestions on where to go in Seattle! The airstream was very comfortable, and we had more than enough space for the two of us. Kevin showed us all the little things we would have not have known otherwise. Overall we had a very good experience and would definitely stay again if given the opportunity!

  • We had such a wonderful time in the Artsy Airstream. It's cozy and comfy.
The connection to downtown via public transport is really fast and Kevin and Monica were so friendly and helped us with a lot of tipps.

  • The Airstream Retreat was a great way to experience Seattle. Kevin and Monica could not have been more friendly and helpful. Lots of really nice touches, like banana bread and a tea/coffee making 'kit' to help us over jet lag. And staying in the trailer for a week felt like we were on a road trip but without having to actually go (website hidden) Lake/Maple Leaf is a great neighbourhood - lots of friendly and easy to access bars and restaurants, as well the Green Lake which, if you like running like me, is first rate. The tips in the guest book for local places is excellent - follow Kevin and Monica's advice and you won't go wrong.

We would thoroughly recommend this place to stay!

  • I didn't sleep here, but I wish I would have! What a cool space! The reason for my rental is for my upcoming feature comedy ((website hidden)). The airstream was perfect for our purposes and I would recommend it to any Seattle travelers who want a unique North End experience. Also Kevin and Monica are really nice and flexible!
