It is a great vibrant neighborhood filled with young professionals and families. Public transportation, close to the Convention Center and only 30 minutes from the downtown attractions makes this neighborhood a gem.
There are 2 bus stops at the corners and 2 metro stations each withing 4 blocks. The Mount Vernon Square Station and The Shaw Station both on Yellow/Green lines and one more stop you will be at the Gallery Place Station and in Chinatown. 3 blocks to the largest grocery store in DC. There are 2 DC Bike-share stations each one block away.
No smoking or pets. Please no walking on hardwood floors with stilettos or sharp heels. Also please do not flush feminine napkins or paper towels in the toilets. These are residential places and you would need to be respectful of your neighbors regarding noise and keep things quiet in the evenings. Most of our guests come to DC for sight seeing and they are very tired at night and need a good night sleep.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
L'appartement est bien placé, près du centre et d'un grand supermarché toujours ouvert. L'appartement est grand, propre, bien équipé, la literie est très confortable. Allen est toujours joignable et très sympathique.
Allen was a great host. The apartment is very comfortable, tidy and very well located - in walking proximity to the conference centre/supermarket/restaurants/metro. We had one morning of loud noises from the guests upstairs, but Allen addressed it in a prompt and effective manner. I would recommend the apartment, and Allen, to anyone that was visiting DC.
Thank you Allen for a great stay and your friendly welcome. Perfect for our group of two couples. Clean, quiet, well equipped and great location. Highly recommended.
We had an awesome stay at Allen's AirBNB. I would recommend Allen's place to others visiting DC in a heartbeat! The 6 of us slept comfortably and soundly, enjoyed the use of the kitchen, and the metro was only a 8-10 minute walk away. There was tea and coffee at our disposal and plenty of towels for us to use. Allen greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful! The only bit I might warn others about is that you can hear most of what happens in the apartment above (footsteps and talking), so it bring a pair of earplugs incase you are very sensitive to noise when sleeping.
The apartment was very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. It is a little bit dark because it's an English Basement, but we didn't spend much time there during the day anyway. The rooms are quite nice and the kitchen and laundry room come equipped with soap/paper towels/condiments/etc., so it felt quite homey for my parents and sister, who stayed there for 4 nights. The kitchen is super nice and the living room/dining room area made a great place for us to hang out and relax after long days.
We were unaware that we had to wash and dry all the towels before checkout before we booked it (which was probably my fault in not reading all the fine print beforehand), so that did cause some stress on the final day. Besides that, the only other detractor was that any noise going on upstairs was fairly audible in the apartment below. I think it's just a design feature of old places, but my sister did say it woke her up a few times (she was probably sleeping in, though).
Overall, it was a wonderful stay. I would recommend this place for a family coming to visit DC.
Great stay. Apartment is as described and as pictures describe it. Very clean. Close to the Mall and Capitol building. We took the bus to save more energy for walking on the Mall but you can walk it. Very responsive to our requests and needs.
We will rent again if we are in DC area.
Thank you Allen.

The redhead next to me is my wife Ana.
We have 2 daughters who are grown and are on their own ( not really, if you are a parent you know) and a 14 pound Schnoodle ( he thinks he is a giant). We have been living in the DC metro area for about 36 years and absolutely love it. Washington DC is a beautiful city, it really is and for people coming here to spend their vacations or attend conferences (Walter E. Washington Convention Center), weddings (so many beautiful churches), funerals (The Arlington Cemetery), graduations (so many great universities), sight seeing (do I need to mention this?), museums, festivals etc. etc.. There isn't any city that offers so much.
I manage the properties and Ana tells me what to do!!!! We are a great team and enjoy doing what we do.
