Warm, inviting, comfortable and extremely spacious 3-storey home, 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from city centre. Full of character and charm, this property has all the style of a boutique hotel, combined with every home comfort you could wish for! You'll have the best of both worlds here - we're close to the buzz and excitement of town, yet overlooking the beauty and tranquility of the amazing Phoenix Park.
There are 4 bedrooms, each with their own quirky style, and a further large sofabed in the upstairs living-room, sleeping 10 in total. (1 x king-size, 2 x large doubles, 1 single with pull-out bed underneath, and 1 x double sofabed) Additionally, we have a couple of large leather armchairs in this living room which fully recline and have been used as beds for overnight teenage guests on many occasions! 3 bathrooms, which include two showers and one bath, make it so much easier for everyone to get ready to go out - especially if there are one or two 'bathroom-hoggers' in your group! Large kitchen/dining room/living area (with all mod cons) for you to enjoy - plenty of seating to eat in comfort and chill out on the sofas in the living area after your meal.
There really is something for everyone here - this house has been home to myself and my two sons for many years, and you'll find that there are 'girl zones' and boy zones' - reflected in the decor! Over the 3 floors, there is ample space for even large groups/families to enjoy plenty of privacy; flat-screen tvs in several rooms; free wi-fi, I-pod dock and charger; loan of Irish mobile phone; games console; electric guitars (large and small!); pool table; games; toys; books for all ages - even a poker table and chips for those who fancy a game of cards.. ;-)
You'll enjoy gorgeous views of the park from the balcony and from most rooms in the house. In the park itself, there is a Visitor Centre, playgrounds, fantastic nature walks and of course, Dublin Zoo. At certain times of year, if you're up at daybreak, you can sometimes even see the deer who live in the park playing directly beneath the balcony.
Within 3 -10 minutes walk, you have several fantastic bars and restaurants, including the closest one to us - and the jewel in the crown - The Hole In The Wall pub and restaurant. If you're looking to experience a REAL Irish pub, then this is it! (Check out how much my guests love this place in my reviews!).
We're also very close to excellent transport links, which will get you anywhere you need to go in Dublin, from Malahide to Dun Laoghaire. All the major tourist attractions are very easily accessible from here and I'm happy to give insider advice on all the best places to go - as well as one or two to avoid! ;-) If you love shopping, both Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley shopping centres are within 10-15 minutes drive, where you can shop till you drop!
No need to go to the hassle of trying to fit all your toiletries and goodies into one of those teensy little plastic bags they expect you to squeeze everything into at the airport either - we'll provide everything you could need - shampoos, conditioners, shower gels. hair products, toothpaste, deoderants etc - so just pack your toothbrush and your favourite perfume/aftershave and away you go! And of course, hair-dryer and straighteners will be available for your use also.
Travel cot, high chair and stroller can be provided upon request, at no extra charge
And finally, if it's a sterile, generic hotel environment you're after, then our place is probably not for you - this is our home, built on many years of love and laughter - and we hope all guests who choose to stay here will find it every bit as comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as we've always done...
PLEASE CHECK WITH ME THAT DATES ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE SENDING RESERVATION REQUESTS
We arrived in Dublin to be met at the airport by our host Susan's friend, Jimmy, who took us directly to the door in his taxi. Not used Airbnb before so wasn't sure what to expect..Susan was waiting for us and immediately made us feel very welcome. She explained everything about the house, local services etc and left us to settle in. We all felt at home straightaway and chilled out completely... Our 3 days were spent doing all sorts of things but what made it so nice was Susan was great in offering to take the kids to the cinema and babysit for us. We loved this trip to Dublin and Jimmy''s sidekick Robbie took us wherever we needed to go at the drop of a hat..We came away on Saturday feeling like we had made some new good friends. We will definitely be back soon.
1 word, 7 letters : PERFECT !
We want to tell you that our weekend was unforgettable.
OK Dublin is a great city... but it is also thanks to you.
Your apartment is really great, tastefully decorated and it's a place where we feel so good.
After to explore Dublin, what better than to go home, where you feel so well.
Super tidy, clean, surprises in the fridge ;-) , closets where we can find everything, fireplace, cosy beds for everyone, billiards... The must, your host Susan who loves welcome guests and takes care of them (you need something and she will be there in a few minutes).
Susan had told me before the weekend that she'll do everything she can to help us have the best weekend ever in Dublin.... and she succeeded. Thank you for all Susan.
And thank you Robbie... yes, because if you'll go there, Susan advises you a Taxi driver, Robbie. Robbie will bring you everywhere. Robbie, thank you for your kindness and your "joie de vivre".
To conclude, if you want spending time in Dublin, Susan's home will be perfect.
Thank you Susan and I hope see you soon !
PS : If you are friendly with Susan, she will organize the sunshine for you ;-)
Susan was great to work with and we loved the accommodations! She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, including even doing some research to help us with our stay. We highly recommend working with Susan!!
Our stay at Susan's was wonderful. She left treats on our arrival and fresh food in the fridge. It was so nice to be able to relax after a long trip and not worry about finding the nearest grocery. Susan checked us in and explained everything. She came to check us out and even arranged transportation to the airport.
Susan was lovely and we had no issues with the house.
Very close to Dublin Zoo and the city centre, if only the Irish weather was a bit more dependable!
My family and I had the pleasure of staying in Susan's lovely home over Christmas 2013. She really was the most gracious host, making plenty time to ensure we were settled in and had all the information we wanted, despite being terribly busy herself. That sums Susan up, nothing is too much trouble.
The house itself is beautiful, in many respects the photos don't do it justice . A very relaxing place with everything you need to hand and a cracking pub a minutes walk away! Even the Christmas decorations were just right, not too little and not too much!
Everything was extremely tidy when we arrived, with some nice snacks and complimentary drinks chilled for us all. As a few other commenters have noted, this really is a family home with stacked cupboards and more perfumes than your local House of Fraser! Despite this, thanks mainly to the graciousness of our host in insisting almost nothing was off limits, we never once felt uncomfortable like we were imposing - more like we were guests in a good friends house.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either theproperty or Susan as a host to friends, which for me is the real acid test when it comes to holiday accommodation. From the first contact right throughout Susan was professional, friendly and really went that extra mile.
Thanks so much Susan, see you for the next Dublin meetup!
I planned a family trip to Dublin for my Grandmothers 80th birthday and Susans house was a perfect base for the trip. I literally could not have asked for more! The house is a clean and tidy 3 story house with plenty of room for getting together as a group (there were 9 of us) and enough space to escape if you needed some time to yourself. It is set in a picturesque location on the edge of Phoenix Park and a short walk to the Zoo and tour bus which we took advantage of. Susan made sure there were supplies for us to take advantage of and was even kind enough to get a birthday gift for my nan which made her day!
Finally, if you are fortunate enough to spend any time at Susans house, it would be a crime not to visit the pub (The Hole In The Wall) just 30 seconds walk away. Amazing food and drink with service to match.
What can I say but that it was an absolute blessing to have found Susan and her wonderful home on Airbnb! Susan is the best host anyone could ask for. She is incredibly helpful, gracious and impeccably clean. She was so nice to even leave us goodies in the fridge and wine. She knows the area very well and gave us some great recommendations. And her place was just perfect...charming, clean and comfortable. I cannot wait to return one day! I wish all hosts could be just like her. If you are going to be in Dublin anytime soon, look no further, this place is perfect. Susan, thank you, thank you for making our trip so memorable!
Susan has been wonderful from the first moment we made contact through Airbnb. VEEEERY PATIENT in explaining all the things and answering promptly to our doubts and questions (some were already written in the description...our fault!).
Very nice HOME (not just a house is made of walls and beams ;) and comfy beds, especially the double ones.
The upper living room with the pool table is just great!
A suggestion: go and try the pub next door...very charming and lively!
Susan's house is amazing, clean, spacious and very comfortable. Susan made us feel more than welcome and was very helpful pointing out what we wanted to know about Dublin. We were with 6 guys and she left the house spotless and tidy with a fridge full of food and drinks and a bottle of wine in a stiletto :D Furthermore we had plenty of towels we could use and she let us use everything we wanted in the house.
Not unimporantly, she recommended her friend Robby, a taxi driver, to us who took us everywhere in Dublin at any time we wanted for a really fair price.
Also, a pub called 'the hole in the wall' is just around the corner and they serve amazing food and the ambience is really cozy and the staff were very nice. Susan recommend we go there and now I recommend it to all of you!
In short: we really recommend Susan's place! You will feel more than welcome in her house: a home away frome home.
Thanks so much Susan!
Warm greetings from Amsterdam
