The Space

Warm, inviting, comfortable and extremely spacious 3-storey home, 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from city centre. Full of character and charm, this property has all the style of a boutique hotel, combined with every home comfort you could wish for! You'll have the best of both worlds here - we're close to the buzz and excitement of town, yet overlooking the beauty and tranquility of the amazing Phoenix Park.

There are 4 bedrooms, each with their own quirky style, and a further large sofabed in the upstairs living-room, sleeping 10 in total. (1 x king-size, 2 x large doubles, 1 single with pull-out bed underneath, and 1 x double sofabed) Additionally, we have a couple of large leather armchairs in this living room which fully recline and have been used as beds for overnight teenage guests on many occasions! 3 bathrooms, which include two showers and one bath, make it so much easier for everyone to get ready to go out - especially if there are one or two 'bathroom-hoggers' in your group! Large kitchen/dining room/living area (with all mod cons) for you to enjoy - plenty of seating to eat in comfort and chill out on the sofas in the living area after your meal.

There really is something for everyone here - this house has been home to myself and my two sons for many years, and you'll find that there are 'girl zones' and boy zones' - reflected in the decor! Over the 3 floors, there is ample space for even large groups/families to enjoy plenty of privacy; flat-screen tvs in several rooms; free wi-fi, I-pod dock and charger; loan of Irish mobile phone; games console; electric guitars (large and small!); pool table; games; toys; books for all ages - even a poker table and chips for those who fancy a game of cards.. ;-)

You'll enjoy gorgeous views of the park from the balcony and from most rooms in the house. In the park itself, there is a Visitor Centre, playgrounds, fantastic nature walks and of course, Dublin Zoo. At certain times of year, if you're up at daybreak, you can sometimes even see the deer who live in the park playing directly beneath the balcony.

Within 3 -10 minutes walk, you have several fantastic bars and restaurants, including the closest one to us - and the jewel in the crown - The Hole In The Wall pub and restaurant. If you're looking to experience a REAL Irish pub, then this is it! (Check out how much my guests love this place in my reviews!).

We're also very close to excellent transport links, which will get you anywhere you need to go in Dublin, from Malahide to Dun Laoghaire. All the major tourist attractions are very easily accessible from here and I'm happy to give insider advice on all the best places to go - as well as one or two to avoid! ;-) If you love shopping, both Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley shopping centres are within 10-15 minutes drive, where you can shop till you drop!

No need to go to the hassle of trying to fit all your toiletries and goodies into one of those teensy little plastic bags they expect you to squeeze everything into at the airport either - we'll provide everything you could need - shampoos, conditioners, shower gels. hair products, toothpaste, deoderants etc - so just pack your toothbrush and your favourite perfume/aftershave and away you go! And of course, hair-dryer and straighteners will be available for your use also.

Travel cot, high chair and stroller can be provided upon request, at no extra charge

And finally, if it's a sterile, generic hotel environment you're after, then our place is probably not for you - this is our home, built on many years of love and laughter - and we hope all guests who choose to stay here will find it every bit as comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable as we've always done...

  • Susan's house was great for our big group. Perfect for couples or families. Phoenix Park is beautiful and literally right beside you. The Hole in The Wall pub was better than any in the Temple Bar area for drinks, food and live music. Susan was very helpful and accommodating - easy to reach her by phone, text, email or What's App at any point throughout our stay. We really appreciated her flexibility in terms of check-in/check-out times too. The taxi drivers she referred us to were also fantastic - efficient, punctual, knowledgeable, helpful and just all around nice people. Reasonably priced too which was great considering the location of the house is not close to central landmarks. We would certainly recommend this place and would be happy to have Susan stay with us on her travels as well!

  • Thank you, Susan. Your apartment was absolutely ideal for our group. All 8 people stayed really well. The apartment is ideally located near the city center has easy access by bus or taxi. Your driver Robbie (email hidden) and always available if we needed a taxi.
You were really friendly and nice to the renter. Thank you for your humility.
Was a pleasant surprise in the refrigerator had beers when we arrived and the other little lunch.

  • Susan is an amazing host. Anytime we had a question she was right there to help us. She left all sorts of food in the fridge for us to enjoy. The location, on the outskirts of Dublin, suited us well. We discovered the Hop on, Hop off sightseeing bus of Dublin had a stop at the zoo(located a few miles away in Phoenix Park) so we were able to buy a multi-day pass and walk to the zoo through the beautiful Phoenix Park. It's an easy walk. One day we walked all the into Downtown Dublin, checked out the sites, and then walked back home. It's a bit of a journey but very doable. The taxi fare into downtown was also quite reasonable.
This property is indeed Susan's home. It feels like you are staying with a friend. It's very homey with an eclectically romantic decor. Indeed the home does hold many of the families belongings such as a kitchen full of food and dressers and drawers full of clothing. Finding places for our own belongings was a bit of a challenge. But, this home felt so welcoming and Susan was such a doting host that it made it all feel so right.
We would definitely stay here again.

    Response from Susan:

Hi Terese, thank you so much for your kind words and it was an absolute pleasure having you and your lovely family to stay! Just want to clarify though, for anyone who might read 'outskirts' as meaning 'out in the sticks', Dublin is a very small city and while we're in a lovely, peaceful location directly overlooking the Phoenix Park, it's still only an easy 10 min taxi ride to the city centre/sights. My lovely local cabbies (and wingmen!), Robbie and Jimmy, offer a door-to-door personal service for just 3 euro per head (bus is 2.60) and make getting around a total breeze. As an added bonus, guests are also treated to Robbie and Jimmy's own inimitable brand of humorous Dublin tour-guiding, free of charge! These guys get many glowing mentions in my reviews from very happy guests ;-) And as you say, it is a bit of a walk to town - but what a beautiful walk right through the Park and onto the Quays! (Joggers love it too)

I'm so delighted to hear that you guys felt like you were 'in a friend's home'. That's exactly the relaxed, chilled vibe I hope every one of my guests will feel when they stay here. As stated in my description, the house is our home, and our belongings do remain when guests visit. However, a lot of guests do enjoy the fact that, apart from our own private cupboards, they have access to all those little complimentary extras, such as all the toiletries they could need and should they wish to cook, a fully stocked pantry with herbs/spices/pasta etc, which saves them for having to buy more. There are two wardrobes and several drawers which I leave empty for guests but I can understand that with 6 adults (and a baby) on an extended trip to Ireland, you did have quite a bit more luggage that the average group, so it could have been a problem putting all your stuff away. I'll definitely take this point on board though, and work on providing a solution asap.

For those who prefer less of a family home, and more of a dedicated vacation rental, I do also have another 4-bed property right next door, specifically for visitors, which I always offer the guests the option of booking too, subject to availabilty. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1973276 Perhaps next time you visit, you can try that one too, Terese! Rest assured, there'll always be a warm welcome for you all at both our places anyway. Best wishes to all the family ;-)

  • We (7 ladies from the USA) had a fantastic 6-day stay at Susan's Boutique Chic 4 BR home.

The house had plenty of room for everyone, very warm and inviting, with just about everything we could possibly want and then some more. The amenities are better than the pictures convey. It was a home away from home!

There were quite a few nearby restaurants that were an easy walk.

Susan is one of the nicest vacation home owner I have had to deal with in my 25 years of renting. She is so personable, friendly, caring and someone I considerate a reflection of Irish people! Susan was very helpful, answered the many question we had about places of interest and suggested better ways of traveling. She saved us money and gave us peace of mind during our busy vacation.

Let us not forget Robbie the taxi cab driver who comes highly recommended by Susan and many, many other reviewers! He told the best stories and went out of his way to make sure that the places where he left us were grand! He was constantly talking about many "Grand" places during the touring we did in his cab.

For anyone wanting to visit Dublin (Ireland), the Boutique Chic 4 BR would definitely be a great place to use as vacation rental.

  • We just stayed at Susan's lovely home for 10 days. It was great! We had 4 adults and 3 children and there was more than enough room for all on three levels. The house was spotless and Susan was fantastic. She stayed to great us even though we were super late, and we had a packed fridge (great after a tiring transatlantic flight) and even gifts for the kids to great us! Susan was always around if needed but never intrusive. The location was great. Phoenix park was fantastic for the kids, the bus stop to the city centre was around a 10 minute walk (that's with 3 kids!) and the Hole in the Wall is a lovely, truly Irish pub to grab a drink. And so close! Overall, a fantastic experience!

  • I and a group of friends were looking for a house to stay together because one of us is getting married and we planned a party stag in Dublin since he's a great fan of Guinness beer. I did'nt know Airbnb before but my attention was caught by instant by Boutique Chic. Guys, the house is incredible! What you see in the pictures is what you really find: well decorated, really comfortable, chic but cheap, and above all very clean. You have three bathrooms and a lot of bedrooms. And, above all, you have... Susan! What a great woman! She made us find the fridge full of a lot of things and gave us precious instructions to live Dublin's nights and days. The house is in a wonderful position: just inside Phoenix Park, the green heart of Dublin, ten minutes away by cab and 30 by feet from Temple Bar. Near the house you can find a fantastic pub, the historycal Hole in the Wall. Also, it was great to know Jimmy and Robbie, the taxi drivers, that helped us with the movements. So, I think Boutique Chic by Susan is a great accomodation: for friends, for a family, for everyone. You can stay here very well, enjoy your time, relax or jumo to the city. The furniture and the decorations make the house so adorable and modern. Great stuff, perfect adventure!

  • We loved balancing the bustle of downtown Dublin with the peace and beauty of Phoenix Park. Susan is a gracious and caring hostess and was very generous to make provisions for our first night snacks and breakfast. Be sure to use her great connections of the formidable duo of Robbie and Jimmy, local drivers who attend well to Susan's guests. The home has three levels and the are nice "zones" to get a little peace in a large group. The runners in our group loved the pathways in the park and everyone enjoyed the local neighborhood, proximity to downtown and ease of getting from the airport (again, using Susan's driver contacts). This is a private home, not a vacation home, so expect both the benefits of toiletries, spices, a well stocked pantry, etc. and the reality of typical household belongings in all drawers, closets, etc. Hence, when we discovered that one of our group was having a birthday, we harvested a candle, tape to wrap a gift and wine glasses for a celebratory drink. Great choice for families, unrelated couples and singles, etc. Thanks for letting us use your home, Susan.

  • Just returned home from a brilliant weekend in Dublin made all the better by Susan, she is a delight and ensured our stay was amazing, so friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The house is lovely and is a real home, none of this sanitised hotel malarkey, it was very comfortable and the food/drink supplied for us was a lovely treat and well received. I can't recommend Susan enough and also a shout for Robbie who supplied us with his taxi service, again what a lovely warm welcome from both, if you are in doubt don't be, get this place booked now!

About
Hi there, I'm Susan. I live on the edge of the Phoenix Park, Dublin and couldn't wish for a better place to live. We're close enough to town to enjoy and appreciate everything our city has to offer, yet only have to look out our windows at the glorious park views to feel far removed from the hustle and bustle. I've had wonderful experiences as an AirBnB guest on breaks to cities such as London, New York and Barcelona, and decided it would be fun to try hosting for a change! I believe Dublin is one of the most characterful, vibrant cities in the world and will be more than happy to assist in every way possible to make your visit to our charming city an exciting, effortless, unforgettable experience. ;-)
