The Space

Beautiful cozy private retreat style home with a wood fireplace nestled in the rain forest of volcano, just 3 miles from the Volcano National Park entrance, just one mile from the volcano village where you find stores and restaurants. There is even a winery and an 18 hole golf course.
We provide all the necessities, such as firewood, laundry soap, muffins and bagels, tea and coffee for your arrival morning. When exploring the near by National Park, we provide, day packs, flashlights, umbrellas and ponchos to help out.
We recommend doing your major grocery shopping in Hilo or Kona as there is only a convenience store in the village.
We don't have the necessities for young toddlers, so at this time it is not suitable for children under 4. Mahalo

  • This house is every bit as beautiful as the photos. It's in a quiet tropical location. One of the best equipped properties we've ever rented. All of the instructions and directions worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we ever returned to Hawaii.
It takes less than 10 minutes to drive to the Volcano National Park. If you want to get the most out of the park we recommend staying in this area.

  • Staying here was absolutely one of the best choices we made during our stay on the Big Island. Patty was so accommodating, she even provided muffins and bagels for our arrival. Everything was arranged perfectly, and the place is beautiful. Conveniently located so we could easily use it as a "base camp" for our various day trips to the south and east island, we loved it here. The wood stove took the edge off the cooler weather at this location, but that just made it homier. Perfectly decorated, this place is too nice to rent (but we're glad she does!). Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Stay Ohia at Volcano is a unique and well-presented property that has all of the furnishings and accoutrements the discerning traveler would hope for. The interior is warm, inviting and well-furnished with stylish features, brilliant Wi-Fi for keeping you connected with family and friends, and is about 10 minutes from Kilauea and the senses-stunning lava fields. The property itself is located in a quiet neighbourhood of tropical shrubs and geology which mimics its volcanic surrounds and is a short drive to some nice and affordable restaurants - try the Lava Rock Cafe for one! - that exceed expectations. In short, if you're looking for a unique location to spend some time chilling out, seeing the sights and lava fields of Kilauea, then Stay Ohia is the choice of champions. And going by the guest book and those who've signed it, it's a place many have been loathe to leave!

About
Originally from Canada, I've been living in Kona for over 36 years. I came here for the weather and the outdoor sports. This town is still small enough that you run into friends all over the place. My husband, Michael, and I work hard and try to have fun and enjoy sports when we can. We gain a lot from the 'tourists' as we see through their eyes Hawaii anew all over again. So glad you are coming to the 'BIG ISLAND' ALOHA
