  • Betsy the host was very nice & friendly and offered advice on activities/restaurants. As far as the unit itself, the location was great w/ easy access to places, however we were disappointed as it did not live up to our expectations. some of the problems were that the we could not utilize the screened in porch as we would have liked to be able to keep the bedroom & living sliders opened for air flow because it was missing the screen and the bugs would get into the house and also we could not control with windows in the livingroom as there were no handles to open or close which made it very hot in the main living areas. they did supply the towels and anything you could want for the beach such as chairs, towels, masks etc....the sand on the beach was rough but nice so we chose to go to the white sand beaches since we rented a car. the northshore (email hidden) of the island to stay as we felt Waikiki was just to city like and driving was a nightmare...we also wish were were informed of what we as guests need to supply ahead of time. we thought it was all included..we were liminted with only 2 trash bags, 2 rolls or toilet paper and 2 pods to do only two loads in the dishwasher..we did not have a problem buying it but wish we knew before we arrived that we were responsible for that....if we knew that and if we had the screen so we could take advantage of the cool night breezes and it not be so hot it would have been perfect...if these problems are taken care of then this would be the place to stay

  • I spent two nights with five friends at the Surfers and Writers Paradise and had an amazing time. The apartment was clean and well taken care of with plenty of space for everyone to sleep. A huge thunderstorm came in the weekend we were there and the electiricity went out for a few hours. Betsy was kind enough to bring us two flashlights for us. Short walk to the beach which is basically isolated. Would definitely recommend!

  • This listing was exactly what you see in the pictures, such a relaxing vacation! I went with a group of four adults and the home provided ample space for everyone and was a less than 5 minute walk to the beach. Susan had everything we could have wanted for the beach; beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear, umbrellas, even hats to block the sun! We had spent the first part of our vacation in Waikiki and would highly recommend skipping that tourist trap and coming straight to the North Shore. Susan gave us a map with all the best local restaurants, bars, beaches, and even food trucks! Her suggestions were amazing, some of the best sushi we've ever had!

The only thing I would advise is to bring your own toilet paper. Only one role was provided and for four adults for five nights that was not enough. Not a big deal but was not expecting it. All in all an amazing home to stay in (email hidden).

    Response from Susan:

    Aloha Lauren,

We're delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful time on the North Shore and that you were able to take in some of the adventure and comfort that Haleiwa has to offer. As for the toilet paper, we do apologize. There should have been more than one supplied. We will check that for future guests.

    Have a terrific summer!

  • This is a fabulous location, walking distance to a gorgeous beach - with Turtles - and to the sweet little town of Haleiwa! The apartment is clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed coffee on the porch rockers every morning and got the best nights sleep you could possibly imagine in this lovely space. You can hear the waves crashing in the distance and smell the sweet salty ocean air. I have recommended this spot to my friends and hope to come back to visit again soon. Susan is an amazing hostess and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. She also did me the most incredible favor and met me in Wikiki to return a gold Tiffany ring I had lost in the apartment, to insure I had it before returning to the states!

Don't pass up an opportunity to visit Haleiwa and stay at this location - you will not regret it!!!

It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time on the North Shore and especially in Haleiwa. And we were happy to get your ring back to you. Take care and maybe we'll see you again in the future!

  • I absolutely loved this place. I stayed in the 2 bedroom condo with my boyfriend and another couple for 3 nights after 4 nights in Waikiki. So relaxing! The hosts were so nice and gave us great ideas on what to do. The beach behind the house is quiet and beautiful. The beaches nearby - Sunset, Pipeline and Waimea were the best beaches I've seen. Highly suggest going there! Turtles were everywhere.

They mentioned the chickens/roosters in the backyard, but they didn't bother us at all. The bedrooms faced the front and we barely heard them.

The kitchen had everything you need, including salt, pepper, ketchup, olive oil, and some more necessities. Loved loved loved it!

    Thanks Betsy and Susan!

  • We had a great time at the house in Haleiwa.

Everything was as described and was very tidy and nice. It's lovely to hear the waves at night from bed.

Haleiwa is a really nice little town and the North Shore beaches are stunning.

I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a place to stay on the North Shore.

  • My friend and I spent three nights in Paradise at Susan's house, steps from the water in Haleiwa. There was a fun couple from Toronto who was renting the ground floor bedroom, while we took the two-bedroom second floor with a separate entrance/exit. It was so peaceful and lovely in the house, with availability for parking as well in the driveway.

I would highly recommend this clean, perfectly placed paradise to all would-be renters. The pictures tell the story, but don't forget to spend time with Susan and Betsy - they are lovely people!

  • Nice and quiet (apart from a few roosters in the garden) house with easy access to the beach and not far from Haleiwa downtown and harbor. Clean and equipped with everything you need. We especially enjoyed the view from the porch towards the beach! Susan responded quickly to all our questions. Overall: highly recommended for families and small groups.
