The city of Santa Cruz requires that all Airbnb hosts collect an 11% Transient Occupancy Tax (same as hotels). As Airbnb at this time does not have a way in which to collect this tax as part of your fees, I ask my guests upon departure, to please leave 11% of their room charge, either by cash or check, in order to pay this tax to the city of Santa Cruz. I apologize ahead for the inconvenience. Thank you!
Interaction with Guests
Your space is completely private and self-contained, and all instructions are carefully spelled out for you in the House Manual once you book. Though we are often at home in the main house, and love to greet our guests if we serendipitously meet in the driveway or garage, we are sometimes traveling and not "on-site". If you would like to book with us, make sure you read and print all your instructions carefully.
• We live in a tranquil residential neighborhood. There is NO SMOKING, no lighting candles, and no partying allowed. Please arrive and leave happily... and respectfully.
• Though we love animals, there are no exceptions to my policy of "no pets".
• Please... no cologne, scented after-shave, scented oils.
• NOTE: there is a $20 set-up fee for the extra bed, plus $10/night after the first 2 nights. I charge for the extra bed regardless of number of persons staying.
The listing was as described, very clean, cozy and in a very nice neighborhood. Noreen left detailed info out for us and recommended several spots around town, which we took note of and found extremely helpful. She recommended Zachary's restaurant downtown and we tried the sourdough pancakes, they were amazing. The recommendations definitely enhanced our trip. The room was super cozy with a t.v., coffee maker, silverware, plates, a really comfy bed and bedding. I liked how private this airbnb was. We had our own private entrance which was great since we were out and about most of the time. Parking was easy and in a nice, safe neighborhood. I'd highly recommend staying here. It was way nicer than a hotel and in a better part of town. It was close to downtown, about an 8 minute drive. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
our first airbnb experience was very good. clear instructions on what was and accommodation which met expectations we had based on the pictures and previous reviews . it was very easy with parking and convenient location to quickly and easily get to beachen and city . it was really private and we felt that we neither interfered or became disabled. added plus that there was coffee and fruit, which gave an extra welcome. Only thing we can think of is that fridge would've been good (we knew there wasn't going to be one.) We really enjoyed our stay
Noreén was an extremely good hoster who answered all our questions quickly. We only encountered her while we were moving out in which we had a pleasent little chat.
We stayed at this place for three days. We were attending a program in the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC). We didn’t meet the host throughout our stay. It is a must to carry the instructions given by the host to find the location and to enter the house.
The room was good. It has a queen sized bed and a washroom. The bathing area is small; no room for movements of your hands. Beneath our room was a garage. There was no one to clean the room during our stay.
We spoke to host once. She was good and allowed us to keep our luggage for two days after vacating the place. We are grateful for this. The area is very safe.
The place is best for visiting the UCSC. The university’s shuttle bus stop is 2 minutes away as well as bus to go downtown.
You don’t find any restaurants; nearest is a shop by 7-eleven around 0.7 miles away.
All the supplies you will need for an uninterrupted and private stay are in the guest suite when you arrive. Most guests choose to stay here partly because the space is indeed private, and they do not need to interact with us if they would prefer not to. The typical Airbnb experience is that linens and towels are changed when one is staying longer than only 3 nights, and there is not daily cleaning service as there would be at a hotel. As for the bathroom, it is small (as I mention on my page), but with a walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. It is well-lit with a large over-sink mirror, and certainly plenty of room to shower or dress. As for restaurants, I have a guidebook on my Airbnb page as well as a print version in the guest suite, which gives recommendations and distances from our neighborhood. Best wishes with your next Airbnb experience.
A very quiet n comfortable place! A very nice n kind landlord who gave us suggestions for nice cafe bar n enjoyable dinner place. Really like it in order not to want to move, haha ! Of course will recommend friends to be here. It's my 1st time to airbnb,n good experience here!
This was my first Airbnb stay. It was a great experience. We received detailed instructions on how to access the room and where to park when we booked. It was great to arrive and not have to deal with the whole hotel check-in process. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and agreed that this room was nicer than the hotel rooms our friends had paid double for. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. It's not attached to the main house so it felt private. Noreen left some fruit and biscotti out for us which was a very nice touch. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised at how nice the neighborhood is. If I'd had more time I definitely would have felt safe going for a run. This was a great experience and I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Noreen for sharing your space with us!
