About this listing
In a superb location near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this upscale contemporary town home is within walking distance of the campus and the vibrant Franklin Street college town area, which includes unique shops and a variety of excellent restaurants. Enjoy the comforts of a lovely private room with queen-sized bed and en suite full bathroom. Have your morning coffee at least three seasons of the year in the comfort of my screened-in porch on a large deck. Free local bus service runs by the house and a community park with biking/running trails is nearby. The house includes a modern kitchen, dining area and free wifi, as well as laundry facilities.
Happy to have guests use the kitchen, porch/deck, living room - pretty much the entire home except for my bedroom!
Guests are free to us the kitchen, living room, porch and deck. i just ask that they respect my privacy and clean up after themselves.
It was a pleasure to stay at Helen's house. The property is beautiful and very well located. Helen is very welcoming and kind. We felt completely at home. I would definitely recommend her place.
My husband and I are very pleased with our first Airbnb experience. Helen Johnson and her accommodations were first rate in terms of her welcome and her clean, comfortable, and well appointed home. We were pleased to be able to use her screen porch for reading and, even better, hosting our son and girlfriend for wine and cheese. Our host was most helpful in identifying walks for us to take. In fact, we were able to walk from "our" home through interesting neighborhoods and across downtown Chapel Hill on our exploration of the UNC campus. This is an ideal spot for visiting parents; much better than a hotel. I suggest booking early for special weekends.
Helen's airbnb is clearly special. The bedroom and bath were very comfortable and physically beautiful. But the real prize of this airbnb is Helen herself, who is an extraordinarily accomplished and interesting person. Her house is located within walking distance of Chapel Hill and has easy access to the major roads serving Chapel Hill. I would like to return!
Ms. Helen was a terrific host for our stay in Chapel Hill, NC. The accommodations were just as she advertised. She was more than willing to go the extra mile with any of our requests. A superb Hostess.
Helen's house was a fabulous introduction to Air BnB for my wife and me. Greeting us with delicious and plentiful cookies and fresh flowers, Helen goes way beyond any reasonable expectations. Breakfast foods available, emergency use of her computer, always a pot of really good coffee and even a fresh pound cake. The room was very comfortable, and the private bath in the room is plenty big. The room is right next to Helen's on the second floor, if stairs or complete privacy is a concern. The bed was a bit hard for my tastes but otherwise very comfortable. The house is in a lovely neighborhood of town homes just off Franklin. It's close enough to downtown to walk home at night--downhill. The walk up to campus is a bit more difficult. Helen is very knowledgeable about the college experience and is a good resource for parents visiting their children.
Helen was a very gracious host. The location was only a 10 minute walk to downtown Chapel Hill. The room was very spacious and well heated. Helen was a very friendly host. She offered breakfast every day and she gave me some ideas of where in Chapel Hill to visit. Very good experience overall.
Helen was a wonderful host! We had everything we needed in the room and more. Loved having a big basket of wonderful snacks, a keurig machine, and water bottles in our room when we arrived. The room and bathroom were very clean, and we had plenty of towels as well as some toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, body wash) and hair dryer. Helen was generous enough to bake some cookies for us when we arrived, and offered us breakfast every morning. The rest of the home is also beautiful, and location is great. It is about a 20 minute walk to UNC campus/Franklin street restaurants and bars. Helen made us feel very comfortable, and we came and went as we pleased.
