About this listing
A very comfortable beach house only a few hundred metres walk to the Skenes Creek beach and approx 5 minutes by car to Apollo Bay. There you will find many cafes, restaurants, shops (including surf and excursion shops). Around the area are many forest walking trails where you might see some wildlife such as koalas, wallabies, echidnas, parrots of many hues, gigantic tree ferns etc - there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas. It is a surfer's and fisher's paradise and I will be delighted to share my local knowedge with you if you wish.
The room has a queensize bed, plenty of cupboard space and a very tranquil and beautiful view from the window. Bedding and bath towels will be supplied. The shared bathroom has a separate shower and bath and the toilet is also separate. You are welcome to share the kitchen as well. There is a staircase from the front door to the main level of the house.
My name is Josh, I am in my early thirties and laidback. I mostly live by myself except when my girlfriend, who lives in Melbourne, comes to stay. I also have a small dog called Rufus who is very friendly. If you have a dog travelling with you it will be welcome also, though my garden is not fenced. I love the sea and snorkelling, fishing, fossicking, some gardening and so on.
My house's view of the beach, ocean, and natural vegetation is panoramic, there are large french windows and a balcony that both run the length of the house - the peace that comes from it all is a bonus. Please come and share and experience it yourselves!
Guests usually have access to the whole house, lounge room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet and of course the large deck with it's supreme views (arguably the best in Skenes Creek, overlooking the ocean all the way to Apollo Bay and also the Otway ranges' green hills behind). My master bedroom is the only room in which guests are not permitted.
Interaction with Guests
I am often available for guests to interact with, sometimes I even take guided tours or take guests fishing/snorkelling/hiking etc. All of which usually needs to be arranged before
Other Things to Note
Being totally at home in the kitchen I do sometimes take special requests to cook dinners, which can be something fairly basic all the way to 3course meals and even fine dining. You could say I specialise in seafood, Italian and Asian cuisine the most, but fusion is my real specialty, though I'm usually able to whip up almost anything one can think of...
You have full access to the kitchen, but please clean up after yourselves, thanks. Make yourselves at home but please be respectful of my house and belongings, as it is my home and not a hotel. Thanks
From Dec 01, 2015 - Feb 28, 2016 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
Joshua is the best host ever! We arrived rather late and he offered us to join him for pizza. Even though it was a night, we had a comfortable stay with all the basic necessity met. His dog, Rufus, was absolutely adorable. Thank you for the night and see you soon!
Josh was very professional and accommodating. His dogs were an added bonus for us. My girlfriend was particularly fond of Rufus. He had a friend over as well who was very helpful with finding are attractions (koalas, kangaroos, etc.) Room was comfortable, and our access to the family room and kitchen were fine. The only slight negative was it had the appearance of a bit of a bachelor pad/house. I do recommend the property and would return in a heartbeat. By the way did mention the awesome views, they're killer.
Joshua made us and our 2 dogs feel very welcome. Our stay there was very relaxed we appreciated the level of trust he had in us while we were there. He gave excellent tips on where to eat and places to visit while we were there. He could not have been more helpful. His description of his place was accurate. The views of the ocean were fantastic.
Josh made us feel very welcome and waited for us as we were running late driving from Melbourne. The room was perfect, simple and clean with a comfortable bed. He gave us full run of the kitchen - it was nice not having to go to the shops to buy the basic tea, coffee, toast and spreads for breakfast. His dog Rufus was ADORABLE and the views from the house in the morning were incredible.
Joshua was a great host and made me feel welocome from the first moment I arrived at his place. The room and the shared facilities have been very clean even when the house is a bit older.
Joshua was a fantastic host and all his recommendations were spot on! The room was clean and the views from the house are amazing. This is a normal house with less frills than an organised bnb which may not be people's cup of tea - I can only say I felt very welcome and comfortable the night I stayed there - I would recommend this place very highly.
Joshua is an easy and open-minded person, shares a lot of his properties with you. He arranged everything we needed after a long day at the Great Ocean Road and he was so kindly to wait for us as we were late at the evening. The view from his balcony is fantastic.
About the Host, Joshua
Originally from Melbourne, I'm a laid back nature/animal lover with a real passion for anything marine based. So activities like snorkeling, spearfishing, yabbying, investigating rock pools at low tide and especially catching fresh seafood then cooking for friends and family would have to be amongst my favourites. When I'm not "hunter gathering", I could be found on the beautiful golf course or just staring out at this magnificent coast from my deck, perhaps absorbing the tranquility with a coffee or two whilst pondering its many possibilities...
