Well situated apartment in the middle of la fortuna with shops and restraunts nearby. Ian wasn't just a cool and helpful host, he also informed us about everything we could have done in the la fortuna region. Breakfast was delicous and we had also a parking spot for our car. All in all we we're happy at our stay.

Very convenient location. Good daily home cooked breakfast. It felt safe and secure. Ian is friendly and very available if you have any questions. There is a great view of the volcano from the breakfast deck. The bedroom has ac which is great. Would recommend this to someone who likes being in town/just a couple of Blocks off the drag. I loved sitting on the deck at night.

We loved staying at La Fortuna Suites!! They were clean, comfortable and all around great! We enjoyed the location because it was close to bars and restaurants and only a short drive to most attractions in the Arenal area!! We also have to give a shout out Ian who was very friendly and answered our many questions and gave us great suggestions on places to eat and things to do!! I would come back to la fortuna suites in a heartbeat!!

5 stars!!! The place is beautiful, the location is perfect, but what really makes the place is Ian. He is super friendly and will help you arrange anything. He wants you to have the best experience you can possibly have in Fortuna. The breakfast is amazing and the fruit smoothie he provides upon arrival is so good!!! We would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be returning!!

Staying with Ian is like staying with a friend…….he is a great host and the La Fortuna Suites are clean, comfortable, and safe in a great location (two blocks from the center of town). He lives on the property and always makes himself available for assistance. For English speaking guests, it’s a plus that he was raised in the US (California). We stayed for a week and couldn’t have selected a better place. Hearty breakfast on the second level lani with a beautiful view of the volcano was a wonderful way to start your day. Ian goes out of this way to make you comfortable, with assistance and recommendations on places to eat, visit, and tour. One of the items on our bucket list was hot springs. Ian recommended Los Lagos Hot Springs Resort and even drove us there and spent time with us. A great value at $15 for day use of the resort facilities.

Response from Ian:
Hey you two! I had a pleasure spending time with you. I still vividly remember our excursion through the Los Lagos property. Now, when I recommend the place to people, it's based on the experience we had there together. What a great day, we saw two types a Toucans right at that same location. I also had a blast translating the information the gardener had to say about the poison-dart frogs and the leaf cutter ants. I felt like I really got to know you two during your week stay here at La Fortuna Suites. Now that you've sold your house and kicked the kids out, your free to go anywhere! Good luck on your travels. Feel free to post a picture on my La Fortuna Suites (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page. Adios you two. Pura Vida! Oh, pan says hi.

My husband and I had the best time staying with Ian. La fortuna suites was perfect for us. Comfortable. Had everything we needed. Kitchen. Clean. Comfy. And even had a tv with Netflix. Ian was an amazing host. Super nice and friendly. And very accommodating. We left for a tour early and he even woke up early to make us breakfast. He helped me set up all the activities as well that we did in Arenal. Great view of the volcano from the second floor of la fortuna suites. Also this was a short walk into town. Less then 5 minutes. And we had access to restaurants bank souvenir shops etc. Would totally recommend staying here

Hey Syeda! It was a blast having you and Russel over. You two are an awesome couple and life savers! I had another doctor over and I was able to share some of those thrilling NY Emergency Room stories you talked about. If I ever go visit the "Big City" I'll be sure to write. Say hi to Russel

La Fortuna Suites is owned and operated by the Aspinall Henry family, Costa Rican-Canadians with additional ties to California. Our history in Arenal began when my great-grandfather came to the area in the 1970’s, to initiate the project which built the large earth-fill dam across the Arenal River, to produce hydroelectric power on behalf of ICE, the government run electricity provider.

During the late 1980’s my father, John Aspinall, one of the pioneers in tourism in Costa Rica, began promoting this area and bringing tourists to experience the wonders of the active volcano, as well as the amazing beauty that abounds here.

Having recently returned to my home country, I am excited to be at La Fortuna Suites, where I can share with others my passion for nature, adventure, and the great beauty of the central valley.

We're located in the town of La Fortuna. A 2 min walk from the church in the center of town. & 5 min from the bus station. There are lots of great hostels and budget conscious places to stay in La Fortuna, but most of the nicer places are far away from town. You're stuck out there once you're at your hotel. La Fortuna Suites is for the traveler that wants access to the city, & wants to come back to a space that reminds them of home.

There are tons of things to do near by: white water rafting, zip-lining, horseback riding, hiking, rappelling, hot spring spas etc. In fact, the Arenal/ La Fortuna area is known as the "Adventure capital of the world!" After a day of adventure, relax & watch a movie on Netflix on a 40" screen. you can even make a snack in your own private kitchenette. Or, get something delivered from one of the restaurants near by. Enjoy the afternoon, taking in views of the Arenal Volcano, & having a drink on our spacious deck. At the end of the day, you'll sleep better than anyone in Costa Rica on a Memory foam mattress imported from the U.S., & 400 thread count Egyptian cotton linens. We also serve a complimentary breakfast each morning, & can book any tours you have interest in.

A little abut the building: It was an apartment building with a bad reputation in a nice part of town. We bought it, put in 8 months, & a lot of dollars in renovations. It's worlds away from what it looked like we first saw it! Check out the progression on that other site. The thing, that's not this site. (Airbnb will not allow me to type the name).
