We're just steps away from the city. & minutes away from all the fun that the Arenal/ La Fortuna area has to offer: rafting, horseback riding, hiking, hot springs, zip-lining, etc.

this was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica. This is an excellent B&B near downtown La Fortuna. It's down a dirt road but the building is very nicely designed, and the apartment is very comfortable. We had an upstairs suite with a separate bedroom and living room, built in kitchen and bath. There was good AC in the bedroom and a nice breeze in the living room. The breakfast patio had a great view of the always-cloudy volcano, and Ian made a solid breakfast (eggs, fruit, toast, coffee) every morning. Bed was memory-foam mattress - very comfortable. There is also a playful cat on the premises. We would absolutely stay here again and wish we could have stayed here longer, it was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica.
Ian was great with having a wonderful breakfast ready for us each day of our stay. He was also genuinely concerned with ensuring that we enjoyed ourselves during our stay. He was able to provide information on activities to do in the area as well as food options. Overall we enjoyed our stay at La Fortuna suites. Our only minor bump was Netflix seemed to malfunction a lot while we were there as well as the internet and Ian was not available at that time to address our concerns. That being said, however, netflix and internet malfunctions are not major catastrophes or issues. La Fortuna suites are a nice bridge between renting a private house and staying at a traditional hotel.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Ian, our host, with delicious tropical fruit smoothies. Our room was great- comfortable bed, working shower, ac in the bedroom, mini fridge and sink in the kitchen, and a flat screen with Netflix to top it all off. Spacious and comfortable. The location of the inn was also great- not smack in the center of all the action, but only a few blocks away from it if we did decide to venture out. Ian was very helpful with informing us of different activities in the area and giving some recommendations. The free breakfast included with our stay was delicious- eggs, avocado, toast, juice, coffee, and a big bowl of tropical fruit. Our only complaint is that it always took a while for us to get served breakfast. When we said we wanted breakfast at 6:30am, we usually wouldn't be served until about an hour later, and at the time, it would be fruit. Then, another half hour or so later, the eggs and toast would arrive. This isn't a big issue if you're not in a hurry in the morning, but it you have plans to go on a hike or something specific at an exact time, I'd recommend fending for breakfast on your own. Aside from that, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend this darling bed and breakfast.
I apologize for your inconvenience. Things get pretty busy when it's a full house. L.J, Scott, Johhny, Ana and you were all there. I try to schedule the breakfast times for each room but sometimes things don't work out as planned. Sometimes people don't get up when they say they would, then it makes things tight. I try to accommodate every one, all at once. When you two came down to the reception to look at tour books and drink an early cup of coffee, I thought we were just chatting and hanging out, I didn't realize you were ready for breakfast.
La Fortuna Suites was by far the best place my husband and I stayed in throughout our 3 weeks in Costa Rica! We loved everything about this place, from its great location within walking distance of the shops and restaurants downtown, to its view of the volcano, to its amazing hosts, etc. The room was extremely clean and very comfortable. The home felt so luxurious with apple tv, wi-fi, hot water, a super comfortable bed, and the refrigerator and kitchen area (all of which are not guaranteed in Costa Rica). The breakfast in the morning was so amazing. I really looked forward to it every day and loved sitting out on the patio during that time and later in the afternoon while I read my book. Although the home is wonderful, what made this home so amazing were the hosts. Jessy and Bob were incredible hosts. They booked us tours, massages, hot springs reservations, and gave us great recommendations. They made us feel at home and very comfortable at their home. It really made a huge difference for us since we had never been to the area before. We would highly recommend this place. We would definitely stay here again. We just wish we could have stayed longer!
What a fantastic place! Unbelievably service and care! Thanks Jesse and Robert!
La Fortuna Suites was my favourite stay during my two weeks in Costa Rica. I'd highly recommend this accommodation. The rooms were spacious, very clean, lots of hot water, comfortable, and in an excellent location. Jessy and Bob are wonderful hosts and extremely helpful. Not only did they book a Christmas Eve dinner for us, but made several excellent recommendations for us explore the area. Bob also makes an incredibly delicious breakfast! The view from their porch at breakfast of Volcan Arenal is amazing and a "must" experience. They also have bikes you can borrow and a nice communal area with videos for guests. An excellent and highly recommended stay here in La Fortuna Suites.
We had a wonderful time in Fortuna staying with Robert and Jessy. Prior to our arrival they were communicative and helpful with questions and planning. Their place is really nice with details that you don't get elsewhere. The included breakfasts were wonderful and they were so good to have it ready whenever you want/need even if it was super early so you can catch a morning tour! They offered great advice about the area and were just wonderful people all around to spend a few days with. You won't be sorry if you choose to stay at Fortuna Suites.

La Fortuna Suites is owned and operated by the Aspinall Henry family, Costa Rican-Canadians with additional ties to California. Our history in Arenal began when my great-grandfather came to the area in the 1970’s, to initiate the project which built the large earth-fill dam across the Arenal River, to produce hydroelectric power on behalf of ICE, the government run electricity provider.
During the late 1980’s my father, John Aspinall, one of the pioneers in tourism in Costa Rica, began promoting this area and bringing tourists to experience the wonders of the active volcano, as well as the amazing beauty that abounds here.
Having recently returned to my home country, I am excited to be at La Fortuna Suites, where I can share with others my passion for nature, adventure, and the great beauty of the central valley.
We're located in the town of La Fortuna. A 2 min walk from the church in the center of town. & 5 min from the bus station. There are lots of great hostels and budget conscious places to stay in La Fortuna, but most of the nicer places are far away from town. You're stuck out there once you're at your hotel. La Fortuna Suites is for the traveler that wants access to the city, & wants to come back to a space that reminds them of home.
There are tons of things to do near by: white water rafting, zip-lining, horseback riding, hiking, rappelling, hot spring spas etc. In fact, the Arenal/ La Fortuna area is known as the "Adventure capital of the world!" After a day of adventure, relax & watch a movie on Netflix on a 40" screen. you can even make a snack in your own private kitchenette. Or, get something delivered from one of the restaurants near by. Enjoy the afternoon, taking in views of the Arenal Volcano, & having a drink on our spacious deck. At the end of the day, you'll sleep better than anyone in Costa Rica on a Memory foam mattress imported from the U.S., & 400 thread count Egyptian cotton linens. We also serve a complimentary breakfast each morning, & can book any tours you have interest in.
A little abut the building: It was an apartment building with a bad reputation in a nice part of town. We bought it, put in 8 months, & a lot of dollars in renovations. It's worlds away from what it looked like we first saw it! Check out the progression on that other site. The (website hidden) thing, that's not this site. (Airbnb will not allow me to type the name).
