The space

Need a place to crash while you are exploring the city? We are willing to open up our home to you so you can sleep comfortably in a queen size bed and have access to a kitchen for your convenience. We do have a little dog who likes to bark and wag her tail. Be not afraid. The bedroom has a queen size bed and a desk with a tv in there. So quiet. The kitchen has beautiful views of the Olympic Mountains it really is stunning. The bedroom is a nice size the queen bed fits in nicely and it is really comfortable, or at least I think so. While you are here the family will be coming and going living their life so you should expect to have some privacy when you are here and some interaction if you want to hang out. Our neighbourhood is call Cedar Hill and it is a quiet area with mostly single family dwellings but there is a plaza and a mall within walking distance. The mall has a Thrifty foods and lots of shops (URL HIDDEN) and the plaza has a M& M meats as well as a Cobbs bread and a Fairway market.
Public transit in Victoria is not as great as large cities but the buses do run Shelbourne street quite frequently as well as a bus route along Cedar Hill that is less frequent. (URL HIDDEN)
We are about 3Km away from the University of Victoria and there is a bike available to use if you like. University Heights is about 5 blocks away and has a movie theatre as well.
All in all it is pretty central but quiet. Message me for more details that are specific for you!
Dont forget about (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps, it is pretty good for helping with directions. I have noticed that sometimes rental vehicles from the US have a hard time finding our street with the GPS!

Guest access

Guest will have access to the beautiful covered deck and the downstairs patio for relaxing . As well as the kitchen for cooking. The bathroom is shared with myself and my husband. Of course you are welcome to hang out with us in the living room.

Interaction with guests

Sometimes I work early mornings and go to bed early and sometimes I work evenings and am not around much during the day. It kinda just depends. We hope that you will feel like you are staying with friends and feel comfortable just to get out and explore.

The neighborhood

I love that our neighbourhood is so central to everything. It is close to 2 grocery stores, walkable to a mall, close to a movie theatre, and only 10 minutes to downtown. We know all our neighbours and its just really a lovely place to be while in Victoria. There are beaches a short drive away and great walks in public parks near by. Mt. Tolmie is a good walk as well as Mt. Doug. There is a public golf course within walking distance and around the golf course a nice chip trail for walking or jogging. There is a neighbourhood pub down the hill and they just expanded the nearby Hillside mall with a new Canadian Tire.

Getting around

There are 2 bus routes near our house. The #24 is right up the street (3 houses) but the frequency of this bus is not as great as buses which travel on Shelbourne street a 5 minute walk from our house. The buses on Shelbourne run every 15 minutes during peak times and about every 20 during the down time. Bus passes are available at the Fairways Market or 7-11's downtown. We also have a bike here (2 if you give us some heads up) which you can borrow to get around. Walking downtown from here takes about 45 minutes. I highly recommend (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to help you figure out when and where you want to go. Of course we will have a map available to you here :)

Other things to note

If there is something you need, please just ask!! I would hope that you feel comfortable and enjoy your stay. Since I work part of the time it is impossible for me to make breakfast. I do however offer breakfast food as part of your stay. If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies let me know and I can stock things you like. On hand are cereals milk eggs and bread.
