We're just steps away from the city. & minutes away from all the fun that the Arenal/ La Fortuna area has to offer: rafting, horseback riding, hiking, hot springs, zip-lining, etc.
If you're coming to La Fortuna this year, stay at La Fortuna Suites... You'll be glad you did.

We had some challenges with our stay. The plumbing in Costa Rica is problematic and we experienced a bit of it while staying here. Some confusion when switching rooms. Ian worked hard to make up for this and we left in good spirits.
This place is really a gem in La Fortuna. From the moment we arrived Ian was friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. It really felt like he enjoyed hosting us and that he wanted us to have a great time. We had so much fun getting to know him and some of his local friends and he was really helpful as we planned our activities in the area. Our room was spacious, clean, and really comfortable. I really must mention that our bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in, like ever. It was great having a fridge too. All that would have been more than enough for us, but having a huge wide-screen tv with netflix was like icing on the cake. Ian's breakfasts were delicious and the coffee he prepared was strong and rich, and really gave me a proper wake up every morning. We loved staying at Fortuna suites and if we ever we come back we would hit up Ian first. Pura vida bro! A+!
Thanks for the Awesome review. It was a pleasure being your host. I also appreciate you two riding along with me to the free hottsprings. My cleaning lady is doing fine, she was left with an upset stomach for the following days. Thanks for asking. No hard feelings, she now knows that not everything is "edible" lol. Take care Dev.
We had a pleasurable stay at La Fortuna suites. It is very well located in the heart of la Fortuna and close to all the restaurants, shops and a perfect place to be picked up for all the activities. The suite itself is very comfortable with a decent size living room, kitchen and a bedroom with 2 attached bathrooms. Ian serves a hearty breakfast along with fresh fruit at your convenience in the morning on the deck upstairs overlooking the volcano. He is very helpful and accommodating with all your requests and especially helped us a lot with our rental car situation when we had an issue. The suite has a TV with Netflix to relax and unwind in case u r stuck in the rains. All in all this is a great place to stay in Fortuna. There are many other resorts but a fair distance away from the action. In Fortuna you want to be in the middle of it and this is a great spot.
Ian was a fantastic host making our stay in La Fortuna a perfect experience. Our place was larger than expected with a bedroom, living room, kitchen & 2 bathrooms. Super clean & very comfortable. The location was ideal. Breakfast served every morning on the 2nd floor patio overlooking the volcano. Saw toucans, parrots & lots of other birds. Absolutely recommend staying at La Fortuna Suites!!
Hey Kristen, Hope all is well. It was a pleasure hosting you here at La Fortuna Suites. I'm glad you enjoyed my breakfasts. Liked my coffee? I make the best coffee in town hands down, measure each scoop to the last grain. Let me know if you ever plan to visit, maybe all your friends can join too next time!
La Fortuna Suites was our very first stop in Costa Rica. Ian was an amazing, gracious host during the entire time. The place only has 3 suites which makes it nice and private as opposed to a big hotel. Katie and I stayed in suite #2 which had doors that opened up to the large patio. It was great!! On clear days you could see most of Arenal from the patio. The suite was clean and had a fan in both the living area and the bedroom. The bedroom also had a/c which is a huge plus! The bathroom was a little small but definitely not a problem. It was perfect for what we needed for our stay.
The patio is where Ian serves you breakfast every morning. Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, juice, cafe con leche, eggs and toast! It was delicious!
Overall we had a wonderful time in the town of La Fortuna and a big part of that was because of La Fortuna Suites and Ian. He really went above and beyond to help us get around the area and even fed us lunch when we didn't have time to grab something before our shuttle arrived the day we left! He also has an adorable kitten named pan that he LOVES and takes with him everywhere he goes. It's very cute!!
Thanks Ian for an amazing stay in La Fortuna!!!! Pura Vida!
We stayed with Ian for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip in Costa Rica. It was a fantastic property and we were treated very well. Great experience!
My boyfriend and I stayed at La Fortuna Suites for four days during our recent trip to Costa Rica this August and it was one of our favorite places to stay! Ian's BNB was perfect for us: clean, convenient and affordable. But what really made it special was Ian himself. Ian was a very gracious host, checking in with us and making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. After four days, it felt like we were staying with a friend. If you have adventures planned in the Arenal area, Ian's BNB is the place to stay.
Hey Nicole, thanks for the awesome review. I'm glad you two had such a great time here at La Fortuna Suites. You two were easy to accommodate, sorry about the cats. Luckily you, and Adam especially, like cats. Pan is growing stronger. He caught a small beetle yesterday.
I will let you know if I ever go up to Chicago. I dream about those Chicago pizzas you were telling me about.
Tell Adam I say hello. I hope he gets a chance to ride an A.T.V again soon.

La Fortuna Suites is owned and operated by the Aspinall Henry family, Costa Rican-Canadians with additional ties to California. Our history in Arenal began when my great-grandfather came to the area in the 1970’s, to initiate the project which built the large earth-fill dam across the Arenal River, to produce hydroelectric power on behalf of ICE, the government run electricity provider.
During the late 1980’s my father, John Aspinall, one of the pioneers in tourism in Costa Rica, began promoting this area and bringing tourists to experience the wonders of the active volcano, as well as the amazing beauty that abounds here.
Having recently returned to my home country, I am excited to be at La Fortuna Suites, where I can share with others my passion for nature, adventure, and the great beauty of the central valley.
We're located in the town of La Fortuna. A 2 min walk from the church in the center of town. & 5 min from the bus station. There are lots of great hostels and budget conscious places to stay in La Fortuna, but most of the nicer places are far away from town. You're stuck out there once you're at your hotel. La Fortuna Suites is for the traveler that wants access to the city, & wants to come back to a space that reminds them of home.
There are tons of things to do near by: white water rafting, zip-lining, horseback riding, hiking, rappelling, hot spring spas etc. In fact, the Arenal/ La Fortuna area is known as the "Adventure capital of the world!" After a day of adventure, relax & watch a movie on Netflix on a 40" screen. you can even make a snack in your own private kitchenette. Or, get something delivered from one of the restaurants near by. Enjoy the afternoon, taking in views of the Arenal Volcano, & having a drink on our spacious deck. At the end of the day, you'll sleep better than anyone in Costa Rica on a Memory foam mattress imported from the U.S., & 400 thread count Egyptian cotton linens. We also serve a complimentary breakfast each morning, & can book any tours you have interest in.
A little abut the building: It was an apartment building with a bad reputation in a nice part of town. We bought it, put in 8 months, & a lot of dollars in renovations. It's worlds away from what it looked like we first saw it! Check out the progression on that other site. The (website hidden) thing, that's not this site. (Airbnb will not allow me to type the name).
