About this listing
No charge for second guest!!! Come and stay in our cosy double room in Hove overlooking the courtyard. Very comfortable bed with freshly laundered sheets and lots of wardrobe space. Share huge walk in shower with just one other room. Beach 7 minutes
The room available is on the first floor of a lovely recently refurbished Victorian house in Poets Corner in Hove. The bedroom is south facing and overlooks the courtyard. There is a double bed in this room but we like to make it clear that the room isn't huge and there is only space for one bedside cabinet. We are happy to take two people if you feel you can manage and there is loads of wardrobe space and cupboard space and a small desk. You'll also get freshly laundered cotton bed linen.
We have a fast wireless connection which you are welcome to use, we provide all your towels and there's a hair dryer too so that should save some room in your suitcase.
We offer a breakfast of toast, cereal, juice, tea and coffee and this is included in the price and is served between 8am and 10am. There are also tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
There is a large modern bathroom with walk in shower which is shared with one other person.
You'll find loads of shops and cafes in walking distance from the house and some really good pubs offering great food. We are about seven minutes walk down to the beach and a bus from the end of the road takes you into central Brighton in ten minutes and stops right in the middle of the Lanes. If you're feeling energetic you can walk along the seafront in about 30 minutes.
You can get a train into London from Hove station and the journey takes about an hour. If you bring your car we can give you a day permit for £2.70 which is what we have to pay for them.
We have one dog and one cat so you'll need to like animals. Neither of the animals will come into your room unless you leave the door open in which case you may come home to find a cat asleep on your bed! We love having guests to stay so look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR EXTRA GUESTS AFTER THE FIRST ONE.
There is no use of the kitchen without prior arrangements
Interaction with Guests
As much as they'd like
We have some great local pubs serving great food and music. It's a short walk to the beach and a short bus ride into central Brighton and a short bus ride to the South Downs.
Yes, buses from the end of the road go directly into central Brighton and the Lanes. Takes about ten minutes and they run regularly including night times.
Other Things to Note
This is a difficult one but has to be said. I'm not really happy if my guests lie in bed until noon and then spend the next two hours eating breakfast. This is my private home and I have friends for lunch and this can be difficult if I have guests still eating breakfast at lunchtime.
Please always make sure not to leave the front door open to keep the dog safe.
Nix is a very welcoming host who made us feel at ease from the first moment on. She gave us some good advice on e.g. buses, pubs and sites to visit. Our room was fine and the bathroom was just perfect! Breakfast was allright, with a variety of products, and gave us time to chat a bit with Nix and Frip (her lovely dog). We very much enjoyed our stay in Brighton and Hove, and we will certainly recommend Nix to others.
We spent 4 lovely days in nix's house in Brighton, she is very kind and gave us all the informations we needed. Fripp is the cutest dog we ever seen.
Nix is a great host, friendly and very welcoming. We spent three wonderful days at her house and had lovely breakfast. Everything was clean and tidy and Fripp is the cutest dog ever! The location is perfect - it is a short walk to the sea and shops are around the corner. We definitely recommend Nix place and would love to stay there again some time.
We had three really nice days at Nix place. We think that Nix is a helpful, generous, humorous and warm person.
The home was bright, aesthetic whit wonderful beds and bed linen.
The dog Fripp also had a warm personality and like Nix a great portion of integrity.
We think we were lucky to find this accomadation.
We recommend Nix place!
Nix is a really nice host. She made us having some wonderful days in Brighton/Hove, with lovely breakfast (you will enjoy the toast, so delicious !) every morning and a small but very confortable room to stay. Her dog Fripp is just as nice and one of the friendliest dogs we ever met. He will always greet you when you come home and loves getting cuddled through (especially in the morning). Nix gave us a homelike feeling immediately when we arrived and really cared for us. She is a nice and funny person and there is no other way than to like her !
Nix was a fantastic host, very warm and welcoming and full of tips of where we might go in the area. The room was clean, bright and cozy (not to mention the v comfortable bed). Nix's place is well situated near Hove station, the shopping area and the beach. Fripp is probably the most charming host dog out there. But it was Nix's company and cheer that makes her place stand out!
We missed our flight to Brighton, but Nix support us sympathizingly. Although we have not saw her, we felt that what a nice person she is.

About the Host, Nix
I retired down to Hove having lived in London for most of my life. I love walking over the downs with the dog and along the seafront, also with the dog. In the summer we both go in the sea for a dip but neither of us much like swimming. I'm very keen on photography and I love gardening though I only have a small courtyard garden here in Hove. I usually have one of my two grown up God children staying with me which I love.
