About this listing
Enjoy the spirit of rural Virginia in this antebellum farmhouse retreat. Ingleside is yours to relax and enjoy in total privacy. It's ideal for family gatherings or just getting together with great friends.
Ingleside Farm, in the gently rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is on lands that have been in our family for three centuries. And you are cordially invited to stay at the Guest House, circa 1821.
Here, you can enjoy complete privacy on the east side of the farm, the gorgeous countryside of central Virginia’s piedmont region, and the convenience of being near the historic towns of Orange, Gordonsville and Charlottesville.
Attractions such as Barboursville Vineyards, James Madison’s Montpelier Plantation and some excellent restaurants are just minutes away. Ingleside is also convenient for day trips with Charlottesville, UVA, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello all just 20-30 minutes away. Shenendoah National park is 33 minutes away and offers excellent hiking and scenery along the skyline drive.
The nine-room Guest House includes, downstairs, the original kitchen with stone-hearth fireplace, dining room, small library, living room with working fireplace, and master bedroom with full bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath.
The house is available for both short and longer-term rentals.
1st Rule - relax and enjoy.
When you arrive all beds will be made and towels provided. Extra linens and towels are there along with blankets and comforters. Feel free to use whatever you need.
In the kitchen you are welcome to use all the dishes, pots, pans and appliances. Supplies in the pantry are there for you too. We supply dish and dishwasher detergent, paper towels, trash bags, coffee filters and more. There is a gas grill outside the kitchen door.
Dining room-the buffet has tablecloths, napkins, candles and more dishes. There are leaves for the table if you need more table room.
Library/TV Room- TV reception is from an antenna so there aren't tons of channels but there is a DVD player and some DVDs. Also, you'll find lots of books, old and new.
Last House Rule:) Before you leave we would love it if you would place dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and make sure all the windows and doors are closed.
Ingleside is absolutely charming! Thank you Susanne for being such a wonderful hostess and sharing your property with us. The house is even larger in person! And such a fun family history to accompany it. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to get together with old friends for the weekend. We had so much fun having BBQ's, gathering around the fire pit at night, listening to bluegrass, and just enjoying some quiet in the country. Looking forward to coming again in the future!
Susanne was so welcoming! Her brief tour of the house was helpful. The house was well organized with many very thoughtful touches --- a "summer kit" complete with bug spray, flashlight, and band aids, strawberries and lemon bread in the fridge, and towels laid out. We had a great time in this lovely house.
Susanne was a wonderful host and very kind and accommodating. We had an amazing time with our boys at the farm house, and she was kind enough to leave a baby chair and a kiddie pool for our use. The experience was wonderful and we would absolutely recommend her as a host.
The house was clean and very comfortable for us, and we plan to bring more friends and family back in the future.
Our hostess made us all feel most welcome and we loved the setting in the beautiful Virginia countryside. A great place to enjoy to enjoy Montpelier , VA and US history and just to relax.
We had a lovely stay at this house. Everything was clean and comfortable. Susanne was responsive and accommodating. It was perfect for our family group!
What a beautiful, welcoming farmhouse we found in Ingleside Farm. Even before we our group of 5 arrived, Susanne made us feel welcome with emails asking if we had any questions and a few phone calls to answer our concerns.
You will find everything you need waiting for you in this lovely old farmhouse. Plenty of room and beds for a larger family, we each could have had our own retreat if necessary. The beds were very comfy and there were plenty of blankets and linens for everyone.
The kitchen space was laid out well with its own fireplace that heated up the room quickly and allowed us a wonderful gathering area each morning. Susanne was kind enough to stock the fridge with blueberry bread and OJ, which helped us get to the local attractions (many of which are only minutes away).
Wi-fi and satellite tv were available for those want to let the outside world in. Modern comforts in the kitchen and around the house could be found as well. This is the perfect getaway whether you are staying for the weekend or a month. Plenty of space to gather or spread out as you desire. Even the grounds were wonderful with a rope hammock and small fire pit. Wish the weather would have cooperated more.
The farm is located on one of the main roads into Charlottesville which helped us immensely. We will definitely be back and fully recommend this property to any and all looking for an ideal place to relax and get back to nature. Just remember this is a working farm and almost 200 years old, so if I HAD to point out a flaw... the floorboards creak. There, you've been warned. Hope you enjoy your stay at Ingleside as much as we did.
Susanne's house was wonderful and our family had a great time! The house was just as delightful as described! Thank you Susanne for a WONDERFUL visit!
