About This Listing
Enjoy the spirit of rural Virginia in this antebellum farmhouse retreat. Ingleside is yours to relax and enjoy in total privacy. It's ideal for family gatherings or just getting together with great friends.
Ingleside Farm, in the gently rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is on lands that have been in our family for three centuries. And you are cordially invited to stay at the Guest House, circa 1821.
Here, you can enjoy complete privacy on the east side of the farm, the gorgeous countryside of central Virginia’s piedmont region, and the convenience of being near the historic towns of Orange, Gordonsville and Charlottesville.
Attractions such as Barboursville Vineyards, James Madison’s Montpelier Plantation and some excellent restaurants are just minutes away. Ingleside is also convenient for day trips with Charlottesville, UVA, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello all just 20-30 minutes away. Shenendoah National park is 33 minutes away and offers excellent hiking and scenery along the skyline drive.
The nine-room Guest House includes, downstairs, the original kitchen with stone-hearth fireplace, dining room, small library, living room with working fireplace, and master bedroom with full bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath.
The house is available for both short and longer-term rentals as well as receptions and weddings.
1st Rule - relax and enjoy.
When you arrive all beds will be made and towels provided. Extra linens and towels are there along with blankets and comforters. Feel free to use whatever you need.
In the kitchen you are welcome to use all the dishes, pots, pans and appliances. Supplies in the pantry are there for you too. We supply dish and dishwasher detergent, paper towels, trash bags, coffee filters and more. There is a gas grill outside the kitchen door.
Dining room-the buffet has tablecloths, napkins, candles and more dishes. There are leaves for the table if you need more table room.
Library/TV Room- TV reception is from an antenna so there aren't tons of channels but there is a DVD player and some DVDs. Also, you'll find lots of books, old and new.
Last House Rule:) Before you leave we would love it if you would remove sheets from the beds, place dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and make sure all the windows and doors are closed.
What a beautiful, welcoming farmhouse we found in Ingleside Farm. Even before we our group of 5 arrived, Susanne made us feel welcome with emails asking if we had any questions and a few phone calls to answer our concerns.
You will find everything you need waiting for you in this lovely old farmhouse. Plenty of room and beds for a larger family, we each could have had our own retreat if necessary. The beds were very comfy and there were plenty of blankets and linens for everyone.
The kitchen space was laid out well with its own fireplace that heated up the room quickly and allowed us a wonderful gathering area each morning. Susanne was kind enough to stock the fridge with blueberry bread and OJ, which helped us get to the local attractions (many of which are only minutes away).
Wi-fi and satellite tv were available for those want to let the outside world in. Modern comforts in the kitchen and around the house could be found as well. This is the perfect getaway whether you are staying for the weekend or a month. Plenty of space to gather or spread out as you desire. Even the grounds were wonderful with a rope hammock and small fire pit. Wish the weather would have cooperated more.
The farm is located on one of the main roads into Charlottesville which helped us immensely. We will definitely be back and fully recommend this property to any and all looking for an ideal place to relax and get back to nature. Just remember this is a working farm and almost 200 years old, so if I HAD to point out a flaw... the floorboards creak. There, you've been warned. Hope you enjoy your stay at Ingleside as much as we did.
Staying in Susanne's country cottage was wonderful! I was with a group of friends escaping the city for a weekend away and the house was perfect! Susanne met me at the house and was so accommodating with our arrival time. It was an exceptionally cold weekend and she make sure that there was enough firewood and we knew how to use the heat. She even checked in on us to make sure we were warm. The house was warm and toasty the entire weekend. The kitchen was well stocked both with supplies and some welcoming snacks. It was a great space to have 8 people and we all loved the house and the weekend!
The house and property at Ingleside Farm are absolutely idyllic!! Our party consisted of two grandparents, two parents, an aunt and a set of 14 month old twins, and everyone was equally pleased with their stay. We spent a good deal of time marveling at how perfect everything was, from the cows roaming the rolling pastures, to the inviting yard with beautiful old trees to sit under, to the wonderfully comfortable beds, pillows and linens, to the superbly stocked kitchen, not to mention the delicious home-baked pumpkin bread and the many, many extras that are too numerous to list. We felt so well cared for during our stay at Ingleside Farm and definitely hope to return one day!
Susanne's house and hospitality were impeccable! The house is a beauty-- it is so charming and welcoming but still evokes all the history it has witnessed. Beds, linens, and other creature comforts were first-rate! The weekend went off without a hitch. The area is very idyllic, with just enough shops and restaurants to offer fun diversions. And, of course, the historical sites are plenty. But the real draw are the great Virginia vineyards and wineries, so many within an easy drive.
Thank you so much Susanne. We hope to be back (and I must get your pumpkin walnut bread recipe).
We needed a place to stay close to a local wedding venue and Ingleside worked out perfectly. Our group was 6 adults and 2 children. The house is both charming and functional, with a lovely, well-equipped kitchen. The grounds are very peaceful. The host, Suzanne, makes it easy for you to settle in.
Susanne was very responsive. When we arrived she was waiting for us to show us around and the next morning we found that there was homemade pastry and all other breakfast supplies. It is a wonderful house and so relaxing! All the seating areas in and around the house! And if you want within 20 min you are at quite a few wineries. The quint town of Charlotteville is also super close. IN the house there is a folder containing all needed information.
They place is and cozy and spacious due to all the rooms.
