Ingleside Farm, in the gently rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is on lands that have been in our family for three centuries. And you are cordially invited to stay at the Guest House, circa 1821.
Here, you can enjoy complete privacy on the east side of the farm, the gorgeous countryside of central Virginia’s piedmont region, and the convenience of being near the historic towns of Orange, Gordonsville and Charlottesville.
Attractions such as Barboursville Vineyards, James Madison’s Montpelier Plantation and some excellent restaurants are just minutes away. Ingleside is also convenient for day trips with Charlottesville, UVA, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello all just 20-30 minutes away. Shenendoah National park is 33 minutes away and offers excellent hiking and scenery along the skyline drive.
The nine-room Guest House includes, downstairs, the original kitchen with stone-hearth fireplace, dining room, small library, living room with working fireplace, and master bedroom with full bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath.
The house is available for both short and longer-term rentals as well as receptions and weddings.

Susanne is an extremely welcoming host. She was there for check-in to provide us with some information about the house and local attractions. Other than that we had complete privacy.
The house is beyond words! Tastefully decorated and beautifully maintained. We were a group of 8 and felt completely comfortable in this spacious home. The pictures do not do it justice. We spent most of our time in the spacious country kitchen by the fire place. The library was also one of our favorite spots.
The house is very close to Barboursville vineyards and Montpelier. Definitely recommend this house for a wonderful getaway.
Thanks again Susanne!
Staying at Susan's Cottage was an extremely rewarding/relaxing experience. This cottage in nestled in the greenery rural area of Gordonsville. We were literally taken back in time as this house is filled with the rich history of the Ingleside Farm. We honestly did not want to leave. We especially enjoyed the fireplaces accompanied by the cozy bedrooms and large country kitchen. What a breath-taking experience. I absolutely Loved staying here. Thanks Susanne for helping me with my luggage to the Car:-). Warmest and in Good Health- Akeeka
What a lovely home Susanne has made available for her guests! The location is wonderful. The house is a couple of miles from several wineries (including Horton and Barboursville) and it's just down the road from Montpelier as well. Charlottesville is about 1/2 hour away and very accessible. The house is very clean and tidy, and so thoughtfully outfitted. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking real meals and Susanne was even kind enough to leave us breakfast items and set up a fire in the living room fireplace before we arrived. Our group of seven was extremely comfortable and never had to worry about running out of dishes or places to sit.
One additional item of note: there is a bedroom and attached bath on the first floor so this would be a wonderful location for a multi-generational family gathering to celebrate a college graduation, wedding or similar event.
Thank you again, Susanne! We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to spend the weekend and we hope to come back soon!
We loved staying in this lovely old farmhouse that is so comfortable well kept. The rooms are lovely, beds are cozy, and fireplaces, welcoming. It was fun exploring the farm and the old equipment. The area has nice restaurants, wineries, and shopping (in Charlottsville)
I would definitely recommend this to others.
Joanie and family
We had a wonderful stay here! Our host was very gracious and provided us with everything we needed, with many extra touches, including delicious pumpkin bread for breakfast! This is a beautiful circa 1820s farmhouse in which I believe the family had been continuously living since that time. Highly recommended!
I can't recommend this house enough. I came down with 7 friends for a weekend to celebrate a milestone birthday. The house is comfortable and beautiful, the area around it is gorgeous, and it was a great jumping-off point for hiking, wineries, and restaurants. The star-gazing was wonderful. Susanne was incredibly accommodating. The house is truly a part of Virginia history. I will definitely be back!
Susanne's place was great. The area was very beautiful and secluded, but not too far from downtown Charlottesville (30 mins). We will definitely come again!
What an absolute gem! AirBNB really is the way to go when incredible places like this are just a click away! We arrived at Susanne's gorgeous country cottage and were immediately blown away thinking, 'is this really where we're staying'? As Australian's roadtripping through Virginia this house was the embodiment of our American country retreat fantasies. The house is surrounded by the most gorgeous farm land, and a beautifully kept lawn running all the way around. With a 3 year old in tow the gardens were a real highlight. Inside, Susanne's pride in the family history is evident, with wonderful photos, mementos and artifacts dotted throughout the house telling a tale that goes back to the 1800's. We truly felt like we'd stepped into a fairy tale - I get goosebumps thinking of it now! Thank you Susanne, your home has made a lasting impression. Highly recommended for anyone needing a quiet escape, writer's retreat, family get together, or journey back in time!
