  • Had an excellent stay here in April 2014. The riad was clean, well presented & beautiful. We appreciated the nice touches like rose petals scattered to decorate, fresh flowers on the table, a bowl of fruit & water in the fridge. The taxi transfer was waiting despite our plane being 2 hours late. Salah, too, was waiting at 3am to greet us. Such great servive! He showed us round and was very friendly & helpful. Gave us email so we could contact him if needed further.

The main bedroom is lovely, with a nice ensuite shower (plenty of hot water & decent power). The upstairs seating area is also pleasant, light & cool. We didn't use the ground floor seating area/TV room at all - nice enough but quite dark & we prefered to be upstairs or on the roof terrace. We didn't use the downstairs shower either but it looked clean etc. though a bit dingy. Not quite as nice as the ensuite! The downstairs bedroom was perfect for our 2 children. They liked how the bed was tucked away ('like a cave'). A great room for kids but the short straw if 2 couples are staying here.

The kitchen is basic, but has everything you could need. We only used it to make hot drinks & get cold ones from the fridge! Rachida came to make breakfast each day. She arrived at 8am but we chose to eat later, 9 or 10. On our departure day she was very accomodating & had it ready early, at 7. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful! Fruit, yoghurt, crepes, bread, tea, coffee, juice... amazing! It was served on the roof terrace so very pleasant although bordering on being too hot on some mornings (there is no shade). Rachida is so lovely, always smiling. She did not speak English but we communicated with smiles, gestures, a bit of French & Arabic.

Overall we really liked the riad. The location was convenient for the main square (Jemma n Fna) - about 8 mins walk. Altough it was not easy to find our way the first time, after thsat no problem. Safe walking back late-ish (10.30) at night too.

Finally, we found the booking process with Airbnb easy enough. Christophe was most helpful. Thanks to Christophe, Salah & Rachida.

  • This place is amazing! Clean, quiet, beautiful, and in a great location! It is convenient and safe, with small shops 30 seconds from the door. We stayed for most of a week and have no complaint at all! They arranged transit from the airport, and were there to answer any questions quickly. Salah was very friendly and helpful with explaining the basics of the city when we arrived. There is a woman named Rashida that prepares a very tasty breakfast, and was very friendly. One of us is not able to eat gluten and so she even prepared breakfast with corn flour instead. We were worried it would be cold due to the time of year, but found that on the second floor terrace there was no wind and it was very comfortable even sitting outside at night. Also, it has wall mounted AC and heater units that work very well. Highly recommend this host!

  • This was our first time in Marrakesh and staying in the old town meant we were able to to walk to all the main sights and got to know our way around really quickly. Everything was made easy for us, from airport transfers to being met on arrival, everything went so smoothly and nothing seemed too much trouble. The main bedroom is a very good size, comfortable and cool for the time of year - the second bedroom is small but perfectly fine for a short stay. Highly recommend having breakfast on the terrace which is the perfect start to a day of exploring the souks and other sights. Christophe is always just an email away and always responds quickly and Salah, who greeted us on arrival and answered all of our questions could not have been more helpful and friendly - a bit of a gem.

  • Hi all,

I am brand new on this site , however have had extensive
Travel experience worldwide. I normally would not leave reviews
However in this instance I feel as if i have to due to my less than
    Enjoyable experience .

    Positives:
    1) View from the terrace is amazing as it shows all of Morroco
2)Upstairs bedroom is what you would expect from a typical Morrocan experience, clean , traditional , opulent.
3)Building is very secure ( I understand some may have concerns about safety etc)
4)wifi is fast and easy to use

    Negatives/concerns:

    1) Location is less than impressive being in small back street of old city( beware if travelling with young family/kids/females as night may not be as safe)
    2) If you are after any sort of privacy , forget it. A house maid , who tried her best does not speak any English so it was impossible to communicate with her. SHE was imposed by the host and he would NOT negotiate a time for her to be in the house and leave at agreed (website hidden) was advised she will be there until she is ready to leave. A stranger walking around the house with no wooden doors and down stairs toilet/bathroom having no window is not my idea of privacy! ( newlyweds or married couples I would not advise this)
    3) The host advised that no guest were allows to visit ( even family friend we had living there) therefore it was a take it or leave it approach with no negotiations and we were forced to leave right away and find a hotel which was costly.
    5) Bedroom downstairs was more like a space where a bed was put and nothing like opulence upstairs
    6) The translator was about an hour late so we sat there in the heat unable to communicate with the house maid
    7) Biggest worry was after we agreed verbally with the host that we would leave and a refund would be given ( in writing to) he consequently sent a email advising the opposite. Thankfully the helpful team at airbnb sorted it all out and restored faith in the site ( thanks Sebastian and Xanthe )

    Thanks

  • WELL.....

The Riad itself is a very nice house. The central location and abundance of space was more than enough to share with my partner and parents.

Our experience with the host however was less than satisfactory.

From a house keeper who sits on her phone in the living room area most of the day, doesn't make your bed or prepares 3 types of 'bread' (that's all) for my mothers birthday when we asked for something special. It was also nice to know that when it took us about 5 minutes to unlock the tricky front door we see her sitting on the table 5 meters away on her phone... Walking 'our' own riad would have been more pleasant without her there.

It was difficult to find out what was happening in the area or get any ideas from the Riad's manager Salah and his friend Zach as they were unsure of what to do in Marrakech. Lucky for us the Riad had wifi and we organised our own tours. The one thing they did organise for us was the belly dance dinner which ended up being at a nightclub. Not exactly what we were after.

The end to our surprise Marrakech trip for my parents was ruined when the taxi organised by Salah/Zach was 30 minutes late. Firstly we had told Salah we needed to be at the airport 2 hours before our 6pm flight so he decided to book the taxi for 4pm! then we waited outside at 3.45 up until 4.30pm whilst the non-empathetic Zach said "it wasn't his problem". My father is in his late 70's and standing outside in the sun (that's where Zach made us wait for the taxi) for 45 minutes is unacceptable and unprofessional.

The name is deceptive. Yes you get the Riad but you also get someone sitting there most of the day whilst you're there on their phone.

  • Our stay at the riad was a great one and we weren't disappointed with the location or it's amenities. Christophe was very communicative and sorted out the essential airport transfers perfectly. Those associated with the riad who made our stay so comfortable were beyond helpful, incredibly friendly and pointed us in the right direction as soon as we arrived so we didn't feel too overwhelmed with the maze that is Marrakech! Due to uncharacteristically hot weather for the time of year that we visited there was a large amount of moisture in the riad that accumulated with the plastic roof being on the atrium but this was amended quickly and the situation improved throughout. However, the 2nd bedroom was disappointing in comparison to the one on the upper floor as it's so small in size and not really suitable for 2 people. We also experienced problems with the shower downstairs also not having hot water. The roof terrace was a blessing though and perfect for the balmy Moroccan nights which is why one evening we chose to have dinner cooked for us and our rooftop dining experience was impeccable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Wow this Riad is Amazing ! Very convenient location in the Medina, it has 3 floors with 2bdrm, 2bath, kitchen, rooftop patio, very spacious. We felt pampered with our own cook/housekeeper, Rashida, who would come every morning to prepare our breakfast(inclusive) and tidy our beds everyday. It is a clean private apartment. The house manager, Salah, is also very helpful and friendly. He helped us with our transportation needs and met us late at night where the taxi dropped us off a few yards from the Riad.
We also asked for dinner to be prepared on our first night and it was delicious, thank you Salah!
All in all, We highly recommend this place for its value, location, and charm. We will come back:)

  • This Riad is highly recommended! We (2 couples) stayed there
3-7 July 2012. The apartment is clean and well maintained. Salah, the local manager, is most helpful and Rashida, the housekeeper and cook works very hard and makes a wonderful chicken tangine. Airport transfers went without a hitch and you can even order Wi-Fi for an extra 10 Euro. The apartment is within easy walking distance to the main market square. The bedrooms are air-conditioned and the terrace on top of the building was our place for breakfast and dinner and playing cards after a hard day touring and shopping. Thanks to Salah and Rashida. Hope to see you again soon!

  • Our group of 4 had such a magical time at this Riad, we are recommending it to everyone! We are two couples - one from Australia and one from Scotland, who came to Marrakech for a relaxing holiday. And this amazing Riad exceeded all our expectations.

We arrived late in the evening and were immediately made to feel welcome by Salah (manager) and Rachida (chef/housekeeper). The entire Riad was lit with twinkling candles and the smell of Rachida's cooking, and we instantly felt at home.

The Riad is spread over three levels. We had a quick tour, and each couple chose a bedroom. The master is on the middle level and it has an ensuite. The second bedroom is on the ground level, with the main bathroom nearby. There are two living areas, one with a tv, so there's plenty of space to chill out and relax. Our favourite place was definitely the rooftop, which captures the sun all day. We all loved the warm atmosphere Christophe has created - with the beautiful orange tree that grows from the ground level and stretches right up through to the rooftop!

The beds were cosy, and we requested use of the wifi which was handy for keeping in touch with friends. Our days were spent in the Djemaa El Fna and then coming home to relax in the sun on our rooftop terrace. It was a real oasis from the hustle and bustle of the square.

It's superbly positioned, just a 10minute walk to the Djemaa El Fna. And the walk is really nice, passing lots of little shops and restaurants along the way. The Riad is very secure, and we felt safe at all times.

Salah was fantastic, and helped us with all our requests eg. getting a driver to take us to the Ouzoud waterfalls etc. Rachida was so friendly, and slipped in quietly each morning to make breakfast which we enjoyed on the rooftop. It was a great way to start each day, and we all miss her pancakes and fresh orange juice!

We went in March, so the days were hot but the nights got a bit chilly. But there are wall-mounted heaters/airconditioners in every room (including the lounge) so we were able to put that on if we felt cold.

Rachida and Salah only speak limited English, but they are both so friendly that we could always manage to get our message across. My friend had a basic grasp of French which helped, but mostly we just used hand gestures and also (website hidden) translate!

Salah explained that Rachida could make lunch or dinner on request. And one night we asked her to prepare a barbecue which we enjoyed on the rooftop - which has its own outdoor barbecue. That was a real highlight. Her cooking is incredible and highly recommended!

Not sure what else to say, except GO! You won't regret it!
    Cheers
    Kellie
