About this listing
Beautiful, newly renovated home in one of Canmore's most quiet neighbourhoods. Trails for hiking and biking from our door to the Canmore Nordic centre & area or walk downtown via pathways in minutes. There's aplayground and tipi in forested backyard.
Our house is really great if we do say so ourselves- there is lots of natural light through our big south facing windows. It's open concept, modern mountain style at it most functional and fun. It's not a huge house (1200sft on main, 900 basement & 450 in the loft) but it's warm and comfy- perfect for a family with a couple kids, maybe even a couple grandparents too. There is a river stone hearth and wood stove if it's chilly. Great decks front and back with views. Bedrooms are as follows: Loft king master suite with ensuite bath, kids twin bed & double bed on main with shared bathroom, basement king with own bathroom. Everything has been newly renovated and the kitchen has everything you'll likely need. Large BBQ, stereo, Wifi access & 2 TVs.
We have limited our availability calendar to time we'll be away- so check it out and see if it matches up with your schedule. We might be able to arrange our plans with yours if you plan in advance- so feel free to send a request.
You have access to our entire house except Kari's office downstairs- which is a scary place you don't want to visit anyway. (Be assured, the rest of the house is strangely immaculate.)
We will make sure you have some space for your things- but our closets etc will not be cleared altogether. Please ignore that stuff. Our kids have toys and games- if you take good care of them you are invited to use these:) If there is anything you need let us know and we'll see if we can round it up for you.
Please bring your own laptop- we will ensure you have our wifi password but our computers will not be available to guests.
The kitchen is pretty well stocked with gear for cooks. We'll make sure there is space for your stuff- the fridge will be emptied for you- but we'll leave the condiments etc for you to use. We assume you'll bring your own food- or eat out at some great restaurants. Friday afternoon at the Canmore Safeway is not the place to be- it's CRAZY. So plan ahead to bring groceries or go at another time. If you get stuck and need an ingredient- and we happen to have it- then feel free to use it. Please replace it before you go- hey thanks!
Interaction with guests
We'll arrange a contact person for access to the house.
Our neighbourhood is right on the edge of town in the quietest part of Canmore. In lots of places you might hear highway noise and have a lot of weekend tourist traffic- but not in Rundleview. It's named Rundleview because from our deck you can look down the valley along Mount Rundle- which goes all the way to Banff. It is right across the road from a local favourite- Quarry Lake. We love it and hope you do too!
There is not a lot of public transport to/in Canmore- most people drive a car here. There is the Roam Bus that goes to Banff from Canmore. You can easily walk and ride your bike around town from our house and we encourage you to- it's fun.
There are 2 parking spots on our driveway- no more than 2 cars are allowed to be parked at our house please. We don't want our neighbours to get cranky about having you all come over:) they are really friendly and we want to keep up our good relationships (and our ability to offer our home here).
Other things to note
We're sorry, but no pets are allowed.
Our house is a family home and our neighbourhood is a quiet and friendly one- your behaviour needs to be in line with respecting our space and belongings, and our neighbours (who will likely notice you and say hi). You are expected to pay for any damages, as we would if we stayed at your house:)
No parties or other guests are invited to come over- any disturbances will be reported directly to the local RCMP who have little patience for shenanigans. But we're not worried because, we're so sure you'll be cool folks who won't cause a big fuss!
We like hiking, biking, surfing, music and reading. We love the mountains (where we live) and the ocean (where we often travel). Life is too short not to go places with people you love!!
