We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Emanuela's "Il Calicanto," a beautiful, fully-renovated, 3-storey villa in Vico Equense. We booked the place on very short notice, so we were particularly pleased. First and most importantly, Emanuela is an exceptional host: she sent us clear instructions on how to get there, met us in downtown Vico on her scooter (we arrived late from Assisi by car, at around 1 AM!) to lead us to a parking space. Once there, she insisted on carrying one of our two (rather heavy) suitcases on the scooter up the alley to the house, all the while smiling even though we were all visibly tired:) Our bedroom and en suite bathroom (lemon tree from its window), both impeccably clean and spacious, were on the third floor of the house, and there was a small hallway before them with a door, so there was an added sense of privacy. The ceilings in our room were very high, and the views onto the Bay of Naples from the tall window were simply breathtaking. The bed was very comfortable. Emanuela prepared a nice breakfast in the mornings and informed us of the train strike, which enabled us to plan our excursion to Pompeii and the Sorrentine Peninsula by car without wasting time. The only thing to note is that the parking space is at a certain distance from the apartment (close to the local elementary school), and - - as other guests have mentioned - - that the alley leading to the property is rather steep. We loved running up that alley (even in the rain), but it could be an issue for others. This is a perfect place from which to explore this area of Italy. We hope to be back!

This has been my favourite bnb so far! Emanuela was very helpful and made our stay very comfortable. The bnb was clean, spacious, beautiful and very close to the train station, which made exploring the city very easy. Highly recommend this to everyone!

Breakfast was beautifully laid out, I had to take a picture of it. Room and private bathroom are clean. Very close to the train station, very clear directions were given as to how to get to her place. Provided information on train and bus schedules. Only 4 stops from Sorrento, which is very convenient to visit Amalfi coast. My favorite were Ravello and Positano. Vico Equense has some beautiful views of the water too. It is a nice small town. Try the pizza from Pizza Metro (great taste, generous portion, good price). Host is very friendly and accommodating. The path to get to this place is uphill, so it is a good workout for your legs. Every day is legs day! It is a quiet and semi-dark path to get to the place so I psyched myself out thinking there were scary things waiting for me as I was walking back late at night. Im sure theres nothing to worry about though, with such a small, friendly town. Also make sure to get back to Sorrento by 9pm for the last train back to the host's town...otherwise you end up like me, stranded and having to beg a hostel chef to drive me back and pay him 20 euros (rather than 30-40 with taxi). Place is clean and comfortable, host is nice and helpful, breakfast is delicious and filling, convenient to get to Sorrento and Amalfi coast. I approve!

I stayed for 7 nights and she has been a great host. She came to pick me up in her Vespa at the train station, and made two trips to her bnb: once to bring my huge suitcase and second to bring me. She prepared breakfast every morning, and suggested places to visit.

I stayed here with my wife for 3 days and we absolutely loved it! The actual bread and Breakfast is wonderful. The home is devided into multiple rooms with each room being on a different floor. We had the room on the main floor which was very spacious. The room had air conditioning which worked very well. The bed was extremely comfortable and great for two people. The bathroom and shower were perfect! The bed and breakfast is pretty centrally located and is within a 10 minute walk to the train station. Emanuela as a host is amazing. She is super polite and nice and easy to talk to. When we arrived she brought our bags up for us and was very welcoming. The breakfast is very good as well. It consists of croissant, toast, fruits juice, coffee and various spreads. The bed and breakfast is located upon a steep hill so at times in the heat it can be pretty difficult but it's not very far at all, maybe 500m. WiFi is terrible. It never worked for us even while right beside the modem. Cell reception in the room is sketchy. Television in our room didn't work but no big deal. Overall this place is great and a must stay. I suggest staying outside of the main tourist area and vico equense is perfect. Still had the small town Italian charm. Thanks Emanuela!

Very nice house with beautiful terrace full of flowers. Big room on the 2nd floor has the great panoramic view on the gulf of Naples and Vezuvius from the big window in front of the bed. The room is clean and spacious. Cleaning was performed daily. Emanuela is very hospitable, punctual and friendly. Each morning exactly at 8 am she made tasty and plentiful breakfast. Recommend for unforgettable romantic rest.
