A more longwinded explanation of the apartment …
A bit about the apartment, it is a TRUE two bedroom with 3 floor to ceiling windows (one in the bedroom and two in the living room). The apartment is very clean, in a very safe neighborhood and looks great.
The second bedroom is small, but has a wall to ceiling window in it, as well as exposed brick, air-conditioning, closet, and a queen size Sealy Posterpedic bed in it.
The kitchen will be stocked with plates/dishes/cups/cutlery etc, as well as pots and pans. We installed new cupboards, new sink, new stainless microwave, and redid the butcher block countertops year.
The floors are parquet wood flooring throughout the apartment and there are two areas where the wall is exposed brick, so it provides you with a great look and an attractive apartment.
There are also bookshelves, coffee table, brand new leather couch, chaise lounge, and ottoman, small dining area, ceiling fans, and air conditioner. There are several plants in the apartment as well to give it a homey feel.
The Upper East Side is incredibly safe with no problems as far as crime or drugs etc. You can feel safe walking around at night when coming back late from work without a problem.
Our building does provide a night security officer who monitors the area at night to ensure safety, but if you speak to anyone about our neighborhood they will confirm that there are never any problems.
I am close to everything ... with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues being a 3 minute walk away and literally thousands of restaurants and bars of all different tastes, from Italian, Ethiopian, Peruvian, Argentinean, American, English, French, Middle Eastern, Vegetarian, Sushi, etc. Literally there is everything right near by. If you would like to see.. you can go to (website hidden) and see all the 546 restaurants that are in our neighborhood alone.
Central Park, the Met, the Guggenheim, are all a 13 minute walk away or a 3 minute cab ride. All areas of the city are completely accessible without a problem via cab, bus, or subway. There is even a taxi stand on our corner that takes you to Wall Street/Downtown in 10 minutes for only 6$ a person. Min 4 month rental.
Anyway ... hope that helps ... if you have any other questions please let me know. I will try and get back to you right away.
Thanks and take care.
Our days at Roberto's house were perfect. If possible, I would stay here again in the future. The Apartment location is close to Central Park, Museums and restaurants. Definitely, great area to stay! The apartment was clean and well kept and match perfectly with the description and photos of airbnb web site. The neighborhood is very charming and extremely safe feeling. Roberto was always available via email and phone if we had questions. The keys were delivered really fast, 0 minutes waiting! ;-)
My stay at Roberto's was quite awesome. I would definitely stay here again. Here are some of the highlights of the place:
* Prime Apartment location - close to Central Park, Museums, restaurants
* Cleanliness - very clean and well kept. Felt very homey.
* The Size of the apartment was exactly as Roberto stated in the listing...very spacious
* The neighborhood is very charming and extremely safe feeling. The building is in impeccable condition.
* Roberto was always available if I had questions. He was also very prompt getting me the keys,
We had an excellent stay in Roberto's apartment. Location was fantastic.
Had a great stay in NYC. The apartment fitted 3 of us easily. It's well located and not too far a walk into town. Thanks for having us and we'd love to stay again!
My husband and adult son went to NYC for my birthday and stayed at the home of Roberto NYC Native. The neighborhood was safe, good shopping, eating, and close walk to Central Park. Our host secured our tickets to Spidernan less than 1/2 price and great seats! He was available but not intrusive, we really felt at home. I would definitely return. Thanks Roberto.
The Location was perfect.Just down the road from Central Park .Apartment was clean and warm, just as it was getting clod outside it was very comfortable. . Close enough to the Park for a run every morning, and close enough to good bakerys and shops to get bagels on the way home. Close to all the museums on the list and subways to the rest of the things we wanted to do. There were 3 of us. The apartment was a good size for us. Bedrooms roomy for comfort.. Kitchen all worked well and we could cook when tired from too much New York!. The neighbourhood very safe and friendly. Small bathroom, but big enough and good hot water amd pressure. Very Very convenient
The apartment is ok, but it is not as good as what I would have expected given the overall price.
It is well located, at 10-15min walk from Central Park, and in a quiet area.
The apartment is big enough for 4 people, although the bedrooms and bathroom are quite small but I think maybe this is the standard in Manhattan. In addition, it is quite dark because
it is located on the ground floor and you have to keep always the light on.
The cupboards are locked or unavailable, so it is practically impossible to store clothes anywhere in the rooms.
We found only one towel per person for a week, while we would have expected at least a couple of towels (one small and one large).
The apartment is clean enough but could be better and there are no tools for cleaning the floor during the stay.
We have been in contact with Roberto only via email, and although he had a personal health problem, he was almost always reachable for any problem or for tourist tips on New York.
In conclusion, the apartment, despite offering various utilities such as PC, wi-fi, washing machine, city guides, with some improvements, it would be more confortable.
Roberto's apartment was an ideal location for our week in Manhattan (3 of us). As long as you don't mind walking, access to the subway is fine, and once you get the hang of the subway system, (directions and express train options) the apartment is a great base for spending long days visiting, shopping and exploring Manhattan's buzzy, busy unique offerings. The immediate area is also rich in great eating options that reflect Manhattan's range of cosmopolitan life.
The apartment offers all we needed for sleeping, chilling, recovering and planning our excursions. The shower is great and the gas cooker responsive. The beds are very comfortable. The apartment has a lot of character and colour, with loads of its own art and craft and is attractive and in a quiet road. Manhattan feels very safe and this area particularly so, and the apartment is securely gated.
Roberto maintains a discreet, hidden distance, but is most helpful via e-mail and text, getting us Broadway tickets for a superb Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom. We would be happy to return and recommend this Airbnb option for three to four people (two doubles and a settee, -the hammock is more decorative). Thanks for a great week, Roberto!
good location on the 77th and just 10 minutes walk away from subway. the flat was nice, cosy and quiet. at the first night we had some problems to get in without a key for the front door, but the next day the keys were provided.
Overall, the flat is good and OK with the airbnb site description.
Roberto is a good host, his welcome and advice have been much appreciated. He left us with many NYC guides and let us use a PC connected to Internet, which is very interesting.
Only thing is people with light sleep could be annoyed by the noise of the street (flat is on 1st floor), but it is to be said that there is not much traffic is the street (small one) so OK for most people.
