Beautiful summer house in a spectacular location overlooking the South China Sea. The house sits on a large private property with 2 km of private coastline (of which 600 meters are white sandy beaches). The mountains in the background - covered with rainforest - form a spectacular backdrop.
We like to eat fresh and healthy foods, so we have a large organic garden with vegetables, herbs and spices. We also keep French chickens (free range) for eggs and meat. Freshly caught fish can be had daily from a nearby fisherman's village. We hope our 3 Labradors and 2 Persian cats will make you feel at home the moment you arrive. During the daytime you will most likely be enjoying the surroundings and the beach. At night you will fall asleep, soothed by the sounds of the waves and the rainforest. The house comes with two gardeners, a maintenance man and a caretaker. If you wish, the hosts can also cook for you. My wife Theresa is very talented and highly passionate about cooking. She does wonders with all our garden fresh ingredients.
All rooms are en suite and have a view of the ocean (from your bed). We have built several private hideaways around the house, where you can enjoy the view and the sea breeze with a book, a cocktail or a cup of tea. Or just have a lazy afternoon nap in a hammock.
Other amenities of the house include a gym, a petanque court, a bar, a yoga platform/view deck and an outdoor kitchen. Planned amenities for the near future are a Zen Garden, a wood fired brick oven and a zip line that will take you from your balcony straight to the beach.
We are leading a comfortable yet low impact life style. We produce our own veggies and meat, make our own virgin coconut oil, natural bug repellents, yoghurt and cheese. We cook using only the freshest ingredients straight from our garden. We avoid chemical additives and processed foods. If you wish to learn or participate in our organic farming, you are very much welcome. We have some live stock to tend to as well (cows, pigs, goats, water buffaloes, chickens).
To help keep our carbon footprint low, we ask all our visitors to plant one tree each. Either a long living fruit tree or a tropical hardwood tree. We provide the seedlings (at cost) and make sure the tree will prosper.
Our place is ideal for:
* Families with children
* Couples looking to spend quality time together in paradise (hidden away from the rest of the world)
* Nature lovers
* Adventure lovers
* People who favor a healthy life style
* Beach & Ocean (swimming, snorkeling, fishing, paddle boating, bonfire / BBQ)
* Mountain River (swimming, fish spa, BBQ)
* Jungle (hiking on old mountain trails, native hunting trails, bird watching)
Guests have access to their room (en suite), the bar, our open air dining area and kitchen, our pergola with comfy lounge chairs, our flower garden, our organic vegetable and spice garden, our view deck, the gym, our hidden dining area on the mountain slope, overlooking the forest and the beach below, various hammocks in breezy and nicely shaded areas, our gorgeous beach and lots and lots of privately owned land around the house.
Interaction with Guests
We love to interact with our guests, either during and after meals or in the evenings over some cocktails or some cold beers in our open air bar. We may also take you on excursions to parts of our land with exceptional views and natural beauty. We believe that this interaction and personal approach is part of the success of the Amazing Villa. We like to share with our guests our love for the Philippines and for the people of Palawan in particular.
We live in a part of Palawan that is exceptionally beautiful and as of yet totally untouched by mass tourism. Many of our neighbors are indigenous people (of the Tagbanua tribe). The Tagbanua still live very close to nature and possess a wealth of knowledge about plants from the forest, natural and spiritual healing and nature in general. Knowledge that has largely been lost in modern "civilised" society today.
The easiest way to get to the Amazing Villa is by rental car. We can rent a car for you at very competitive rates, pick you up at the airport and take you straight to the Villa. Alternatively, there is also public transport (a jeepney stops in front of the Villa) but we would recommend this only to the most adventurous travelers. You will travel through the jungle on very scenic but partially rough roads.
We are nature lovers. Please respect the fauna and flora around you and do not disturb the wildlife.
This place is just perfect.
If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy a great beach, beautiful view and tasty food, this must be the best place in Palawan.
Amazing place in serene surroundings. Beautiful deserted beach. However a little more transparency with regard to the relatively high cost of food and transportation from the beginning and not only after booking would have been appreciated.
Our stay at the Amazing Villa can be summed up in it's own name, it was amazing. This place was exactly what were expecting and then kicked up a notch. We stayed in the Ylang Ylang room and it was phenomenal. The villa was just incredible. Nice bed, airy bedroom with windows all around, huge bathroom and the most amazing view. You could see and hear the ocean from bed, can't beat that! The villa sits about 70 meters above the sea so you get a great view of the bay. You fall asleep to the sound of the jungle and surf and wake up to the same. Its quite, relaxing and private which is exactly what we wanted for the finale of our Palwan trip. Then there was the food... WOW I've never gone so long without feel the slightest bit hungry before. Theresa prepared 3 amazing meals a day. Everything was delicious and everything was fresh. Herwig, Theresa Isa and all the staff were a pleasure to be around. We really enjoyed the few late night chats we had with Herwig and Theresa, they are great people. I thought that we would be a lot more active while we were there as there is lots to explore. But it was the last 5 nights of our trip and we fell into a routine of beach chilling and eating that we just didn't want to quit. We were so happy with our stay and can't wait to go back.
This property is absolutely amazing! Pictures shown are very accurate. My wife and I went here for part of our honeymoon and had a great time. This is the perfect place for you if all you want to do is disconnect from your everyday life (no tv, phones, limited power) and just be in touch with nature. Beautiful clean
private beach (no one but you), excellent food and service! We arranged for airport transport and meal plan; all very good! Food made by Theresa was delicious! My wife wanted to but didn't get a chance to take a cooking lesson with her, but we plan to come back some day! Only thing is that the weather is obviously very hot during the day and there is no air conditioning/electric fan or ability to take cold shower to cool off (I think the water tank is exposed to sun and there is no cold water in the day). But night time breeze and electric fan is very comfortable for a good night's rest. Theresa was very welcoming and great company to make us feel at home!
Starting the trip off Herwig met Chelsea and I at the airport. We took the the rental car option and wouldn't imagine taking the jeepney to be honest. It's a rough, long ride to the villa. About 2 hours on and off sealed roads and lots of road works going on with the road being built. But it was good to have Herwig as a tour guide telling us interesting facts about Palawan on the way to the villa. Herwig and Theresa were very friendly and welcoming to us and made us feel at home and part of the family while we were there. I would definitely go with the food option as there is no restaurants near by and only basic shops. The food was always delicious, restaurant quality and always hard to finish because there was always so much. Theresa really spoiled us! But its good to know that you will have to pay $50USD per meal/person. Well worth it though. The bar is fully equipped and Herwig is talented at making cocktails and has also come up with his own concoctions. The villa itself was amazing as it says in the title, our own slice of paradise. Pictures don't do it justice! As the Ylang Ylang suite use to be their home. It is very spacious, big dining room and kitchen area with the stairs leading up to the bedroom with views looking down on the beach below and surrounding forest and the garden off to the side. Ensuite bathroom is massive with a big bath and plenty of room to move around. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas and our own private beach. Herwig and Theresa were non intrusive and let us enjoy our privacy but were always helpful when we wanted to go out and needed some information and didn't mind having a chat either. All in all it was a very pleasant experience. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Keep in mind that there is no reception or internet so get all your affairs in order before you go. Thanks to Herwig, Theresa and their staff for the wonderful experience that we will never forget!
Wow! I have too many good things to say. Truly, Herwig and his wife Theresa went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable stay. They treated me like I was family, and that was great. I stayed there for one week and left completely rested up. Do the food option because every meal was perfect and unique. I miss Theresa's cooking already. Also, I feel healthier having since returned home. The location of this house is perfect for getting away from everything. Also, get the Ylang Ylang Suite. It has a beautiful view and is just great all around. The staff are very kind and do a great job of keeping up the grounds. Overall, I had a great time. No complaints. It's a perfect blend of being in the jungle but also still being relaxing and stress-free. I'd highly recommend you stay here if you are going to Palawan!
The word AMAZING does not describe well enough what this place is! It is fantastic, fabulous, astonishing, awesome and incredibly, unbelievably wonderful! The place has every amenity as described and much, much more! Being in the middle of tropical-heaven-nowhere is one of the prominent features of the villa, but do not worry: you will be looked after as if you are in a 5 star boutique hotel! If you have small kids you can be sure they will have great time with the kindest children (the hosts' grand kids) at the best and safest beach we have been at and with the friendliest cats and dogs we have met. But what makes that place so unique is definitely the hosts Theresa and Herwig! You will feel like staying with old friends from the very first moment you meet them. Theressa's food is definitely one of the best we have enjoyed, especially when followed (and preceded) by Harewig's creative cocktails. If you like long chats and good company this is the place to be! And you will probably meet there some other very nice Airbnb travelers to share this PARADISE with!

Hi ! My name is Herwig but do call me Gilles. All my friends do. I'm a nature lover with an independent and adventurous spirit. I am Belgian. I used to travel extensively, came to the Philippines in '98, fell in love with the country and with Theresa -now my wife- and never left. Theresa is an amazing cook (very creative !) and she loves to bake as well. Her cheese cakes and cinnamon rolls are out of this world.
We both love music, pristine nature and good food.
We live in two places: we have a house in the city (Puerto Princesa) and a summer house on the West Coast of Palawan. It's here that you will find the best beaches as well as untouched rain forest. We like to move often between locations.
We would love to share our private paradise with you. If you're an adventurous type, I will take you hiking on hunting trails of the indigenous people. We can go night fishing or we cross some rivers on a dirt bike. We can go bird watching in the rain forest or you can simply spend a morning in the privacy of your own beach. By the way, we grow our own veggies, herbs and spices (100% organic) and harvest fresh for every meal. Your eggs will be free range. We don't use processed food.
