Located in Ballard, a hip Seattle neighborhood, our home offers easy access to a mix of top-notch restaurants, charming coffee shops, and boutique retail stores all less than a mile away.

The space
Originally built as a guest house for family and friends, we decided to host on Airbnb to welcome travelers who prefer a neighborhood vibe and a stay in an uncommon style of a vacation rental home.

The little house is 363 sq feet and contains a sleeping loft accessed by a ship style ladder. It is quiet and comfortable complete with a kitchen, small fridge, living area, and a queen bed below a skylight.

Near the kitchen is a bar top height table with two chairs that are commonly used to eat or work. The home has a bluetooth speaker and a Roku enabled TV to play your own streaming content.

The little house has a 19-gallon water heater. The hot water lasts 5-10 minutes. Please plan accordingly. If you require a longer hot shower, our place might not be the best choice for you.

Please review the photos of the ladder and loft. Most find the loft charming and easy to access. Others may find the ladder and the loft ceiling height challenging. At its apex, the loft is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and then the ceiling height moves lower to the windows (please see photos of loft bedroom).

The home is within walking distance to downtown Ballard, a waterfront neighborhood bustling with hip restaurants, breweries, and a historic shopping district. We are a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Seattle and popular attractions such as the Space Needle, Pike’s Market, Elliot Bay waterfront park and the Giant Wheel.

The backyard space has two sections. One contains the grills, a table, and seating. The second has a comfortable outdoor sectional, chair, a gas fire table and an outdoor TV. The outdoor seating is available seasonally and depends on good weather. A solo fire pit and firewood are available upon request.

Sharing the little house on Airbnb is a labor of love. As superhosts for 9 years, we truly enjoy opening our home to travelers. We tackle the responsibilities of hosting as a family, with our teenagers helping prepare the house to save money for her upcoming college expenses. We hope you enjoy the little house as much as we do.

Guest access
The Little House sits behind our main house. To access it, walk down the driveway and open the tall brown gate to the courtyard (see photos in listing).

During your stay, guests have access to the private little house, patio, the gas grill, the smoker, comfortable seating (weather permitting) and the gas fire table. A separate solo fire-pit and firewood are available upon request.

The patio is a shared space with the owners. You may see us, or our friendly dog Mudd, from time to time. Mudd loves to bark as you come and go. Please ensure the gate is fully latched and closed each time you use it.

Other things to note
Snacks To Get You Started: We offer guests coffee, tea, water, granola and a few other snacks.

Hot Water Limitations: The little house has a little (19-gallon) hot water heater. The hot water lasts 5-10 minutes, if you require long, hot showers our home might not be the best choice.

ROKU TV: The small TV in the living room is on Roku "guest mode". This allows you to log into your own streaming platforms and when you check out, Roku will log out and erase your log in details for you.

Workout While Here?: The house contains a yoga mat, yoga blocks, some weights, a jump rope, and TRX bands.

Free Library: We have combined our love of lofts with our love of books. On the bookshelves upstairs, we offer a free little library of books. If a book catches your eye feel free to keep it.

Outdoor TV: There are three remotes for the outdoor TV. One is for the Roku, one is for the TV mount to lower the TV and one is for the TV itself. Step 1: if TV is not down, hit down arrow on the black remote. Step 2: Turn TV on using the TV remote; Step 3: the Roku remote is used to stream your shows. If you have questions, please let us know.

Travel Info: You will find travel guides and maps on the shelf near the towels. Please leave the maps and travel guides at the house for others to use.

EV Charger Available: We offer a 240 V (Level 2) EV charger to guests for no additional charge. Use of the charger will require coordination with host to access. When finished charging, guest's car will need to re-park using on-street parking.

Neighborhood highlights

Ballard is a popular Seattle neighborhood with a rich Scandinavian heritage and history as a "sleepy fishing village." Ballard isn't sleepy anymore. Our neighborhood is hopping with retail, nightlife and great restaurants. Independent shops include a CD/vinyl record store, CD stores, an indie bookstore and many non-chain restaurants and retail.

We have easy access to the Metro bus just one block away from our place. A 15 - 20 minute ride by car or bus puts you downtown near the WA state ferries, Pike's market, the Space Needle and Seattle Center. Golden Gardens (one of our favs) is two miles away and has a beach including views of the Olympic mountains and the Puget Sound.
