The villa has a spacious bedroom with a canopied oversized queen bed and rich wooden decor leading to a lovely garden bathroom of terrazzo and granite featuring a rain shower. Located with a stunning view to the west and surrounded by gardens on both side it's steps away from the beautiful infinity pool.

Villa Jiwa includes a private covered sitting/lounging area with a sofa and deck and a hammock for lounging too. One of the favorites of our guests is to awaken before dawn and watch the early light lift the mist over the ocean of rice and experience a Bali Sunrise right from your private deck with coffee in hand. It's an experience like no other in Bali. Stay long enough and you'll experience the whole cycle of rice cultivation from planting to harvesting and the local religious festivals celebrating Bali's unique cultural heritage.

The huge 15 meter infinity pool at Harmony on the edge of the rice fields is only steps away from your private villa through Harmony's lush landscaping. The pool is situated on the very edge of the bluff overlooking the rice and has a shallow end seating area for relaxing after you've done your laps! It's central for use by the five villas at Harmony yet due to its size and differing guest schedules, it's rare not to have it to yourself. We don't have pool hours so feel free to take a moonlight swim at 3 am!

Our on site villa staff will help you with all your needs from arranging tours and sightseeing, car or scooter rental, personal laundry and itineraries as well as giving you tips for the best shopping, Yoga studios and massage in Ubud.

We can also provide a daily cooked breakfast prepared in your villa each morning of delicious pancakes or eggs, fresh tropical fruit tea or coffee and juice to start your day. Breakfast is an additional $5 per guest, per day in Villa Jiwa and prepared each morning from 8-11am. For those wishing to cook for themselves, we are only one mile away from the main supermarket (Coco supermarket) so you'll be able to stock up with local provisions.

A private chef can be arranged to cook you traditional Indonesian cuisine right in a Balinese home. Or, if you would like to do it yourself, book a private cooking class. Our chef is very reasonable and an amazing cook! Staff can organize lunch or evening dinning in your villa which is truly one of our guests’ favorite experiences.

Your villa stay includes free wifi (fiber optic connection and as fast a speed you'll get in the Ubud area), a laptop sized safe, fully equipped kitchen, towels, TV/DVD, parking, laundry (by arrangement), daily staff service, nighttime security staff, a yoga deck, sun loungers and the priceless ambiance of the Harmony lifestyle.

We have a flexible check in and out time and are happy to accommodate you if you are coming from outside of Bali. Airport pickup and drop off can also be arranged for an additional fee. Motor bike, scooter, push bike and car rental is available on site.

Villa Jiwa is located on the edge of a huge rice paddy in the village of Lodtunduh, about 2 km from Ubud and close to the Monkey Forest and all the world class shopping on Hanuman Street, and the cultural activities and restaurants in Ubud. We are very centrally located for all of Bali's sights and activities. Sanur beach is nearby (about 12 miles) and Seminyak. Kuta and Legian are easy drives for a whole day out with a different vibe. Or you can go up the hill to Kintamani and the hot springs at Lake Batur in an hour or so. Temples abound everywhere - from Besakih, the "Mother Temple" to Tanah Lot on the ocean (two of the most famous and holy) and we can organize tours to anywhere on the island and to Lombok too....

Our village, Lodtunduh, is a quiet hamlet of artisans, artists and farmers where the villagers can often be seen grooming their fighting cocks, drying rice on the road, or participating in the numerous religious festivals.

It's slightly cooler in the Ubud area than the beach. A/C is not needed at Harmony due to our location right on the edge of the rice fields. We almost always get a breeze and Jiwa has a powerful overhead fan and a high ceiling to keep the air flowing. The breezes complemented by ceiling fans are usually enough to keep you cool even at the warmest time of year. You'll find our open plan design for indoor/outdoor living works for your comfort.

*** Please also note we must collect a 10% Indonesian government hotel tax payable upon check in which is payable in US$ or Indonesian Rupiah.

We can also arrange the following services:
• Yoga classes
• Massage
• Private chef cooked breakfast and dinners (by prior arrangement)
• Car rental
• Car and driver
• Scooter rental
• Bike rental
• Laundry service (Extra charge)
• Tours and sightseeing
• Airport pickup and delivery (Extra charge)

Staff will meet you upon arrival at Harmony, show you to your villa and provide you with keys, wifi password and the house manual with suggestions on all the local sights to see, restaurants to visit and local tours for enhancing your stay. Staff will be onsite each day to answer any questions or help with any sightseeing activities.

... and finally .... enjoy the wonderful cycle of the rice paddies! Depending on when you visit you’ll see the fascinating cycle of rice farming from preparing the fields, planting seedlings, thinning out the new rice, watching the ducks do their amazing dances, to harvesting, threshing and drying. It’s one of the best things about visiting Harmony! The cycle is fascinating to watch no matter when you come!

Guests can use all the facilities at Harmony. The infinity pool on the edge of the ricefields is very large and shared with the other villas but always feels private. All our villas are private and Jiwa has its very own lounging deck and private garden.

Our village is still mostly agricultural and its a fascinating place to experience real Bali village life which can't be found in touristy areas such as Kuta or Seminyak. That's the lovely thing about our area of Lodtunduh village.

You'll likely encounter ceremonies, celebrations, weddings, a cremation perhaps (a big event in Bali) , the local temple festivals. but most of all you'll see (depending on when you visit) the fascinating cycle of rice farming from preparing the fields, planting seedlings, thinning out the new rice, watching the ducks do their amazing dances, to harvesting, threshing and drying. You'll see the village men parade their fowl and perhaps experience a cockfight – although you may not approve, it’s very much a part of village culture. If you want you can wager and maybe win!

Guest access

Jiwa guests can use all the facilities. Harmony has a beautiful 15 meter infinity pool with an unobstructed right on the edge of the rice fields that's perfect for laps or just hanging out and watching the sunset. The infinity pool is shared with the other villas but always feels private. Due to its size and differing guest schedules, you’ll find it's rare not to have it to yourself. All our villas are private and enjoy endless views as far as the eye can see from the pool and yoga deck.

Interaction with guests

I'm not always in Bali as I travel extensively myself, but our onsite staff are really wonderful and will treat you like family (we have day time staff and night time security). If I'm lucky to be staying while you're there, I'm always available to give you tips and pointers on the best way to maximize your stay in Ubud and Bali.

The neighborhood

Getting around

There's a taxi service right in our village to take you to and from the airport (about $27) and into town (about $6) a few minutes away. Staff at the villa can arrange private scooter rental along with bikes and car rental with or without a driver. The daily price for scooter rental is 60000rp (approximately $4.60) and discount price for monthly rental rp or $75. The price includes helmet. The rental doesn't include insurance which is typical for casual scooter rental in Bali so check your travel insurance for coverage. Technically you'll need an international driving license which you can get from any AAA office for $20.
There's free parking at the villa too. Please note although the airport is only about 20 miles away it can take up to an hour and a half to get there. The roads are small and there's a lot of traffic in Bali!

Other things to note

Ubud is a gastronomic paradise with virtually every kind of food available just a few minutes from Harmony. Many offer take out and delivery, so you can eat in your villa, under the stars on your private deck, or on the pool deck. Our amazing private chef is available (by arrangement) to cook for you or give you Balinese cooking lessons.

Harmony is open to nature and you should expect visits from insects and lizards in our tropical climate. There are very few animals that are dangerous even although they may look so! But be prepared to be close to nature in all its beauty.

House Rules
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check in time is flexible

Villa Jiwa is one of five villas at Harmony and while Harmony is large enough so each Villa is private, it's small enough for community. We don't have a lot of rules except have maximum fun and relaxation.

We ask you respect other guests privacy as they will yours and please don't smoke except on your private deck (not inside the villa). There's some basic stuff about being in a tropical environment; our staff will advise you on arrival.

Villa towels will be replaced every 3 days. If you'd like them changed more frequently, please make sure to let our staff know.

Please also note that although we love children and our pool has a children's shallow end, Harmony is not a child safe property, you'll need to be responsible for them at all times.

We do have a few suggestions though....

We like to suggest you visit the village shops to buy your beer and snacks from the locals rather than going into town.

Watch the rice... it's mesmerizing.

Villa was fantastic. Staff were very attentive and polite. Great views from the property, probably wouldn't consider the walk to town but a cab ride. Room was excellent and had lots of plugs for different countries. WiFi was also excellent

Lovely place in quiet and peaceful location. Perfect pool and view. Should be more obvious that this place is a private room with other villas next to you so pool etc is shared.

This is a amazing place for vacation, the location is a bit far from central of Ubud, but its easy to get taxi from the villa. The swimming pool is so beautiful and the view from the pool is amazing. Love it so much! The room also very beautiful and very local. Love the environment. Only thing needs to improve is too many insects. Definitely will come again!

Michael is a fantastic host !! The location is amazing and the staff are very friendly. We loved our stay and would definitely go back but maybe in a bigger villa next time :) The pool is so nice overlooking the rice fields, it's so calming and relaxing. Michael was always contactable and quick to reply if we had any questions.

This quiet getaway boasts a beautiful view and tranquil surroundings that make you forget you are only a short ride from the heart of Ubud. There are only a few villas, so we almost always had the pool to ourselves. Several small warungs are within walking distance, but the staff were also very helpful in calling taxis to drive us into Ubud. I would highly recommend this place for couples looking for a relaxing getaway!

I'm an educational filmmaker born in the UK, spent many years in Los Angeles, have an organic farm (still going) in Southern California and now travel a lot with bases in beautiful Bali.and equally beautiful Ojai, California. I've created Harmony Villas with my Balinese friend Wayan Nama in a modern tropical minimalist style to reflect our joint passions - connection with the land, no clutter, beauty and a wonderful environment. I'm equally passionate about providing a superlative experience for Harmony guests so they can have an authentic Bali vacation and truly relax.
