About this listing
B&B Leiden is located within a few minutes walk from Leiden Central Station.
Within a 10 minute walk from the B&B, you'll find yourself in the centre of this historical city. A city with a unique atmosphere and history, Leiden is home to the oldest University in the Netherlands, where many members of the Dutch royal family have studied. In addition to Leiden University, Leiden houses a beautiful botanical garden, with a stunning Japanese garden, which is just a stone's throw from the Pieterskerk, a monumental church built in the 14th century. On your way back to the B&B, you'll walk through Leiden's charming shopping area, with a wide variety of unique shops as well as a selection of bars and restaurants catering to every taste.
The B&B boasts a cosy, bright bedroom and a bathroom for personal use with both a rain shower and a bathtub. The room is also equipped with HDTV, Wifi, hairdryer, a charger for your telephone or iPod and coffee & tea. Each morning you'll be treated to an elaborate breakfast of your choice. It is also possible to order a tasty snack, beverage or cup of soup.
I visited Leiden for work in August and I fell in love with this little university town. Willemien's hospitality had definitely made this experience even more unforgettable.
The location of the house is excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the train station and supermarket (which closes at 10pm). The pictures exactly described the room, bright and cozy, facing the lovely Japanese style garden downstairs. The bathroom was big and clean, you can't even find a piece of hair.
I had stayed in Willemien's place for 10 days and she tried her best in making different style of breakfast for me every day. On top of fresh fruits, fresh juice and bread, she had baked fresh croissants, made dutch pancakes, cooked noodles (to sooth my eastern palate) in turn! The breakfast was huge and she even helped me pack some for lunch!!
Other than that, the highlight of each day was the conversation with Willemien during breakfast time. She was an energetic person full of passion and wisdom for life. She had inspired me in a lot of ways.
Next time when I visit the Netherlands, I'll definitely come by Leiden and stay in Willemien's house again!
A great room in a beautiful home, location is just a few minutes walk from the central station. We had excellent breakfasts cooked for us each morning, I will stay here again for sure.
What a fantastic location! The bedroom was so nice and comfortable and the bathroom has the nicest shower. Willemien provided us with a lot of information including a great pub that we went to. She accommodated a food allergy by providing my boyfriend with gluten free bread at breakfast. She even made us fresh squeezed orange juice each morning. This is definitely a place we would stay at again.
I spent 2 nights at Willemien's B&B and It was a really good experience and I really recommend her! The bedroom is spacious, nicely decorated, the beds are confortable ! It's the same for the bathroom!
The breakfast is delicious and serve as the hour you would like to have your breakfast!
And Willemien is a very interesting person who can advice you very usefully to visit the Netherlands , or to eat in a good restaurant in Leiden far from the awful Dutch fastfoods you can find ! ;-)
Really , really nice !
I recommend with 5 stars!
Willemien is such a sweetheart! My friend Angela and I stayed with her for two nights, and enjoyed every minute. The place was spotlessly cleaned, the breakfast was delicious, and Willemien made us feel very welcome. Her home was lovely and the bedroom has a beautiful view of the garden. Everything is within walking distance from her house as well. The train station was right around the corner and the city center was just down the street. We would gladly stay here again if we have the chance to return to Leiden!
About the Host, Willemien
I myself have travelled a great deal and have always found it important to not only get to know the country or city, but also its local people and flavour. Recently retired, I am pleased to devote my new-found free time to welcoming guests in Leiden, offering a quiet, relaxing environment and, if desired, information about the city of Leiden and the Netherlands.
