For a wonderful vacation or long term living, this comfortable cabin in the jungles over looking pristine Lago Arenal, in Costa Rica. Perfect for relaxing, bird watching, seeing the sights, internet working, or spending time with a loved one.
The cabin is off the beaten path, yet just 2 kilometers from shopping, restaurants, bars and the lake side park. The road is a bit rough so there are few cars and almost no noise on the property. You will hear birds, monkeys, maybe a dog, and wind chimes.
Please roam freely the acres of plants, bananas, papayas, oranges, lemons, yucca, flowers and regenerating forests. The property is surrounded by very large tracks of both pasture and open space for trekking.
The house has dedicated DSL WiFi internet (now at 4 Meg), a large bathroom with huge picture windows looking out upon the gardens, and endless hot water. The main room is your kitchen, living room, and sleeping area. The kitchen has stove, refrigerator, dishes and basic pans.
This is a perfect retreat for someone working on their computer who wishes to be alone. Our guests also use this as a base to explore Arenal Volcano, Tenorio, Monteverde, La Fortuna and other touristic destinations.
The owner lives on site and can assist with knowledge of the area and settling in. The farm has a full time gardener and you will be treated to fresh fruits in season.
We are ten minutes from Lake Arenal, Costa Rica and one hour drive to La Fortuna. The town is called Nuevo Arenal not to be confused with la Fortuna.
Guests can roam the property freely, onsite secure parking for several vehicles, eat fruit in season, bathe in the spring, watch birds, work with wood, dream.

Quiet. No smoking inside. Have fun. Relax. Heal.
David and his family are rad! Super warm and welcoming. The space is beautiful. Their daughter is adorable, as are the nine puppies! The washer wasn't working but their did laundry for us up at their house. David was always happy to help/ chat but at the same time gave us our own space.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
It was an exceptional experience for hub and I: David's place may not be lavish but what it lacks in luxury it makes up in being special: well constructed, bug-less, high ceilings, lots and lots of light, varnished wood and murals inside and out that are magical. Cooks be forwarned: not a lot of 'tool's to work with, tho kitchen is fully equipped. Bathroom, on the other hand, is Ah-mazing!! Outside: Lush and well kept surroundings. We very much enjoyed speaking to David who is both charismatic and oh so knowledgeable. He was also right on it if there was an issue (eg internet intermittent). We fell in love with his dogs, too, who were all sweethearts and loved affection.
We had such a great time at David's, we stayed one night too many without noticing! Seriously, it was faboulous! It felt a bit like paradise being surrounded by this lush vegetation, watching the birds - especially the cute parakeets -, and strolling through the garden at your heart's content. Here, you got everything: you can stay at the house and just relax, cook (great cooker, great fridge), enjoy the hot shower (a dream), read etc., or go and explore the area (Arenal, Miravalles, Rio Celeste ...), for which you need a car though. Very convenient is also the nearby town. Last but not least, David is a great person, offering his help and company when needed but not obtrusive. We had a great holiday! Thanks, David!
I enjoy very must the david's cabinas. It's very nice place in the tropical forest. David is a good men who helped us for anything and he liked speaking with the hosts. I passed goods times with him and his friends. I recommended this place because it's very nice place, the home is very good for all things and david it's very sympathic.
Davids hideaway was wonderful! The house was new, very clean and very spacious. It also was very artistic; the wall murals were amazing, the woodwork inside was rich and beautiful and the view from the shower was unsurpassed. Our possessions were very safe in the walk-in vault. We spent a lot of our time on the back patio (which had just been beautifully tiled) watching the abundant and incredible bird and monkey life. The Howler's were always nearby during our entire one week stay and were such a joy.
We daily strolled the well-tended grounds with all the different trees and flowering shrubs. A favorite view of mine was from the far corner of the property, looking down and over a pasture that had a stream meandering through its rocky course.
With all this said, the best part of our experience was David, himself. He was a wonderful, friendly, generous and very helpful host who made us feel at home and welcomed us into his Arenal life. He volunteered to drive us into town anytime, invited us to sit and have a beer with his friends at the local hangout and we even got to do a little drumming at his monthly drumming gathering the last night we were there.
We had a great time, thanks for everything!
We arrived at dusk, very tired after a long travel day, in the town of Nuevo Arenal, with no address or other instructions other than to go to the gas station. When we got through to David (via his gardener, as he did not answer his phone), he showed up having been drinking, with a beer in hand. There isn't anything wrong with a drink but since we were then dependent on him to drive us to the property, this was a bit uncomfortable.
Then he insisted we eat in town with him. When we ordered at the wrong place (where we'd been taken to by him, apparently we were just meant to have a drink there), although we hadn't been told this, we were then hustled off as soon as we'd finished. To be fair we did all go to the supermarket together which was helpful. There were several off-color jokes and comments made during this time which would offend the sensitive.
David also informed us in the first half hour after arrival that he was leaving the next morning for an unknown amount of time, luckily we did not need assistance for rest of our stay as the house is very isolated.
We do not wish to be negative but feel it is important for the review to show this.
The house is a lovely big open plan space, good shower and Internet, and has a decent bed. The garden is full of beautiful trees, and we were visited by monkeys and toucans and many other birds and animals every day! The two dogs are also lovely. Nearly new, top condition fridge, washer and dryer and nice soaps and such were a nice touch.
The house is advertised as having a full kitchen but does not have a working oven nor any extras like a microwave. The gas level on the stove is very weak, and only two burners work. The kitchen is completely useable though, with a useful assortment of dishes and utensils as well.
The house is also full of windows which is great for wildlife viewing and the sunlight, but there is no privacy, especially in the bathroom. We did have a very tranquil stay, although this may be due to being almost completely on our own the entire time.
I have lived in Costa Rica since 1991 and in Lake Arenal since 1996. I choose Arenal because of the climate and proximity to Guanacaste, la Fortuna and other vacation destinations. I study plasma physics, right living and natural healing. I am learning the conga drum. I am a webmaster SEO consultant. I enjoy sharing healthy home cooked meals with new friends.
