  • We had a fantastic stay at the Turtlehouse B and B. Curt and Christina could not have been better hosts! They were so warm and welcoming, we immediately felt right at home in their beautiful house. Our first day there, they arranged for a surf lesson for us at a beach down the road and also made reservations for us at a fantastic restaurant just around the corner from the house. We had a wonderful surf instructor from Juan Surfo’s in Playa Guinoes (neighboring beach) and a dinner at Luna Azul that rivals the NYC restaurants that we are used to! (After a week of rice and beans, we were certainly ready for a change!) We woke up the next morning to a fantastic homemade breakfast and then were off to a paddle boarding tour which Curt and Christina also arranged for us. We spent some time afterwards relaxing on the porch in comfortable rocking chairs and just taking in the fantastic view that the property has to offer. We had another wonderful breakfast the following morning— Omelets made with fresh herbs and veggies right from Christina’s garden, so delish! After that we sadly had to leave to catch our flight……but we would have loved to spend more days there! It is such a nice, relaxing location for a getaway, with top notch accommodations! There are endless activities for an adventurer and also a relaxing atmosphere if you are looking for a more low key vacation. We will definitely return as we loved Curt and Christina, their lovely home, and this very special area in Costa Rica! Many thanks again.

  • Curt and Christina are amazing hosts. They made us comfortable in every way possible. They were very accommodating to our schedule for breakfast and made unbeatable meals with lots of variety and great coffee!

Their home is an amazing place to stay if you enjoy a relaxed, out-of-the way destination. They gave us great recommendations for 4 different beaches to enjoy, hiking on their property (to see the monkeys), and a paddleboard tour. They went out of their way to call ahead and make sure we had good experiences at the local restaurants.

We stayed in the upstairs suite which is very private and has a balcony with perfect sunset views and an indoor/outdoor shower overlooking the jungle! The house and rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. Their pool and grounds are also great for relaxing and watching the wildlife.

We'd highly recommend staying with these delightful hosts!

  • It's hard to summarize how fantastic Christina and Curt are. Their home is endlessly beautiful inside and out and in a simply breathtaking setting. As soon as we arrived we felt incredibly welcome and comfortable. The banana bread muffins that literally came right out of the oven were an exceptionally welcome treat.

Everywhere we went in Costa Rica we enjoyed very good food. But the breakfasts that Christina and Curt prepared for us were the absolute best that we had. Every morning we left for our adventures not only full but smiling. Eggs, muffins, waffles, fresh fruit from their backyard, sausages, rice and beans… incredible.

One afternoon we were running a little late for some horseback riding (I highly recommend Playa Ponies if interested) and didn't have time to stop somewhere for lunch. No problem. We were very kindly offered some homemade pizza. The two of them even helped us sort out some flight concerns and gave us some fantastic local tips. Essentially every step of the way we were taken care of.

Just down the road from the Turtlehouse is the Luna Azul restaurant. It's incredibly convenient with wonderful food and a great people as well.

In the four days we were there I developed an incredible bond with the location and it was one of the hardest places I've ever visited for me to say goodbye to. But somehow I expect that I'll be saying hello to it again in the future. Can't thank the two of them enough for begin such a wonderful part of our trip.

  • I can't imagine two nicer people or more gracious hosts than Christina and Curt. You're greeted at the door of their Spanish-style villa with a wonderful refreshing drink and a tour through the beautiful home they designed themselves. It's as beautiful inside as the views are from their back patio, where they have a nightly ritual of watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean with a glass of wine.

The breakfasts were absolutely delicious, as were the dinners that Christina will prepare upon request. They are very well connected to the local community and have all the information you'd ever need about the area including places to see and activities to take part in.

Do yourself a favor. If you're visiting the Playa San Juanillo area, make sure you stay with Curt and Christina. Wonderful people, wonderful home. Pura vida.

  • Nestled in the middle of the forest yet less than a ten-minute drive from Ostional, TurtleHouse is the perfect place to disconnect. The pictures on AirBnB do not do justice to the simply astonishing views of San Juanillo beach. Without doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica was to wake up in the morning to have a lovely breakfast of waffles with maple syrup, contemplate the scenery and listen to the monkeys.

Many, many thanks to Christina and Curt for making us feel like at home during our two-night stay. They are great hosts who go out of their way to accomodate the needs of their guests.

  • Christina and Curt were both very welcoming to their beautiful slice of paradise! A wonderfully designed home with spanish influence, this is a great place if you dont mind being somewhat secluded but in a beautiful environment. They designed the home themselves, placing it on a mountain to offer a gorgeous view and adding a very intriguing inside garden at the grand entrance and huge double doors as a spanish hacienda. The road up is somewhat bumpy, like most of Costa Rican roads that are off the highway, so it is always best to ride in a large vehicle.
We took the ocean side room, which is on the second floor and has the best view of the house! Everything was very clean and very well maintained. Although we didnt stay long enough to try, they even have a wood burning pizza oven.
We had a dip in their pool which is right beside the home and offers a stunning view of the pacific ocean and beautiful sunsets. Christina and Curt were exceptionally hospitable: they personally reserved our dinner at a small restaurant in a hotel nearby, and invited us to have a drink with them beforehand as we watched the sun go down. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast with the two of them, and spent almost all morning talking and eating (lost track of time!). They offered us great advice on the nearby attractions and best roads to take.
We were their very first airbnb guests, and we can proudly say that we felt truly at home with Curt, Christina, and Tiki (the dog). We felt as if we were with family, and we will most definitely return!

About
I am a lover of new places, travel, food , and meeting new people. My husband and I took on this great adventure to move to rural Costa Rica and retire in the green of the jungle and in proximity to specular and isolated ocean beaches and be near one of the most important yoga communities in the world to receive therapy. We built a lovely and large home which now we would like to share with others. I love to cook and cooked professionally for some time. There is always something fresh and delicious on my table. Special menus are fun!
