Très bel endroit et prestations conformes à nos attentes. Toutefois nous avons souffert d'un manque d'eau chaude qui n'a pas être résolu avant la fin du séjour et qui nous a empêché d'apprécier pleinement cette maison.
We were a party of 6 (3 couples) that stayed at this lovely Tuscan farmhouse. The location is a wonderful, central location to take day trips to Florence and Siena and to explore all the lovely small towns in the region. I simply loved the little town of Radda. Scored a great pair of boots at a little store called Pratesi. The farmhouse itself is quite old but lovingly restored and decorated by Pierre and Rose. It is attached to another home where another family lives but you would never know. I never saw or heard from the neighbors the entire time we were there. The rooms are spacious and while there are 3 bathrooms, the 3rd bathroom is not attached to the main house but rather in the laundry room on your way to the pool where a very large spider scared the bejesus out of me. The only other criticism I would have is if you're a party of 6 there is only seating in the main living area to seat 4 comfortably. For additional seating we needed to sit in the kitchen chairs (uncomfortable). Rose was a lovely host and most attentive to all our needs. Upon our arrival there was fresh fruit and wine welcoming us. After a 5 hour drive from Sorrento it was a welcome sight. She had prepared a list of favorite local restaurants, wineries and shops which we found most helpful. One of the highlights of our stay was the dinner prepared by Michele. We still rave about the pasta carbonara he made. Delizioso! Overall it was a lovely place to stay in a charming location, made all the better because of Rose's hospitality.
If you are looking for a true Tuscany experience, look no further…. This authentic, charming, cosy little house hidden away at the end of a road, has a wonderful view of the Tuscany hills. It’s for all to see that it has been lovingly restored allowing modern comfort while retaining a lot of the original details. There are also plenty of space outdoor in the shade or if one prefers, under the sun. It’s however not perfect, and improvement can be made to the lawn, the laundry and swimming pool area but it makes it feel like a real home, not a hotel.
The location is a bit out of the way but close enough to everything, when you have a car. Our three sons in their early twenties all rented Vespa scooters so they did not have the feeling that they were stuck in the middle of nowhere. The dirt road is however a challenging road on scooter, one should have good experience in riding one before renting.
We covered many places during our stay, including Sienna, Greve, Panzano, Livorno, Piza, Luca just to name a few. We had beautiful lunches in restaurants all around and mostly stayed at home in the evening with the family, having a barbecue or a simple meal with a wonderful glass of Tuscany wine on the terrace.
Rose and Michele are the most attentive hosts, keeping in touch all the time, making sure all goes well and giving advice for the most wonderful restaurants.
In short, it was a perfect family holiday and we felt totally at home in this little gem in Tuscany.
This was a very beautiful place that felt like living in an interior design magazine. The villa came with a chef that could be hired for a very reasonable rate to cook all three meals if desired. We had one dinner cooked for 5 people and it was spectacular - a private chef in a Tuscan villa - what more can I say. Even though the place seems secluded it is only a 5 minute drive to the town. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and it was well stocked with everything that could be needed. The house is very private and is not shared with anyone. But there is another house very close. The villa has full-time tenant in another section of the but there is no noise or contact with anyone. There is a beautiful view but only from one section of the courtyard. The house itself does not face the view and there is no porch that faces the view. To enjoy the view you must sit in a covered patio off the courtyard. It is a beautiful setting and nothing to complain about. But it is a small letdown when you go into this beautiful villa and realize there are no views from any windows or patios - unless you go out of the house and onto the sitting area across the courtyard. Because of the mosquitos we weren't able to enjoy the view as much as we would have liked. I am sure the house could sleep 10 people fairly comfortably and 3 couples would all have their own rooms and own double beds. This would make the house a bargain. Taking my family there was too expensive for what it offered. But it was a beautiful place and we had a wonderful time.
We've always wanted to stay in a Tuscan villa and were so excited to stay in this one! After a few hiccups, we managed to settle in nicely into this homely, cosy villa. Michele the caretaker and in-villa chef cooked the most delicious barbecue meal during our last night here. Having him around was a real blessing as he was always very hospitable and friendly. A very hardworking, honest man he was. We highly recommend this villa if you don't mind it being located deep inside an off the beaten track rough road. Worth the drive though as the view surrounding the villa is breathtaking! There are two bathrooms in the villa, the third one was not used as it was located outside the villa, another floor down. But it wasn't an issue for us as we all used the bathroom at separate times. Kitchen is very well equipped, rooms are large and there was more than enough space to move around for our family of 6 adults and 1 infant. There are good restaurants around but PLEASE rent a car as we doubt public transport is convenient because we didn't see any taxis at all. All in all it was a good family holiday for us.
We had an unforgettable week at Poggio Canali. The villa was a home away from - very comfortable and liveable. We were in a group of three couples and a baby and the size was perfect. The kitchen had everything we could need and more. (Except for a microwave, but that was no problem, as Michele cooked for us almost every night!) The beds were very comfortable, with gorgeous views from each bedroom. One has an ensuite with a bath which was perfect for travelling with a baby, but was a little difficult to use as a shower due the handheld shower head and no curtain. The other two bedrooms share bathroom with an enormous double shower. We didn't use the third bathroom as it is separated from the villa by outdoor stairs.
The location of the villa could not be better! Having previously stayed in San Gimignano, and another time near Gaiole in Chianti, this was without doubt the best position in terms of seeing the gorgeous Tuscan countryside, small medieval villages, as well as the big ticket items in Florence and Siena. San Casciano was not an especially memorable town but was very convenient for groceries, pizza, gelato and espresso.
Rose was extremely helpful, right from the time of booking through until after check out. The information and suggestions she provided were invaluable - in particular we are in definite agreement on the "best restaurant in the world" in Rignana! We were most thankful for the provision of a travel cot and linen, and especially for the kind offer of some grocery staples purchased ready for our arrival. So thoughtful! The villa caretaker, Michele, was friendly and obliging. He is a fantastic cook and prepared our dinner (and cleaned up afterwards!) on all but two of our nights. What a treat to spend the day exploring the Tuscan countryside, return to an idyllic villa and enjoy a sunset drink on the terrace, without having to worry about what to cook for dinner! Better yet, relax in front of an open fire while someone else cleans the kitchen afterwards! Again, perfect when travelling with a baby when going out to dinner is not so easy.
Thankyou so much Rose and Michele for a wonderful stay at your beautiful villa.
The house is beautiful, better that the pictures and the descriptions! It is very evident how much love and care was put into every detail. We felt right at home. The views are wonderful and the location is great. San Casciano is at the center of the beautiful Chianti region, with great access to all the towns both the ones in the tour guides and those that are not but are just as wonderful.
Everything we dreamed of when we decided to come to Toscana.
We followed most of the careful suggestions to decide on our day trips and they turned out great.
