Our host provided excellent communication before, during, and after our stay in his home. The Air B&B description was completely accurate. This West Vancouver mid-century modern home has been meticulously restored and it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to experience a home created by Vancouver architectural legend Ned Pratt.
Coast Modern is simply one of the loveliest places we have ever had the good fortune to call home for a couple of weeks. And Peter one of the most lovely gentlemen one could want for a host. The house's style represents the best of Vancouver, with a blend of natural, modern, retro and Asian themes coming together in harmony. From the semi-wild garden, to the exposed beams, bamboo blinds, gold-leaf wall, leather couches and shag-pile wool floor-rug, this place oozed style. But not so much that it was austere or overly precious. This is a home to be lived in and enjoyed. The space was most effectively planned, with a large open lounge and dining area, spacious kitchen, free-standing bath-tub and comfortable bedroom. Peter also provided some personal touches which rounded things off nicely - flowers picked from the garden, a welcome bowl of local cherries, a bottle of BC wine and some sparkling water. So easy, yet so many other hosts don't bother. Coast Modern is also a great entry point to West Van, with the Capilano River Reserve just 1km away along Rabbit Lane. Should you fall down the rabbit hole, no fear, a lovely 40 minute return trail run will take you up to Cleveland Dam. Or you could spend a more leisurely couple of hours wandering the trails. And taking in the neighbourhood. The only downside? You may never enjoy staying anywhere else quite as much ... we can't recommend Coast Modern highly enough.
The coast modern is an amazing location, quiet and cozy. Peter was extremely welcoming and helpful. It was an all around great experience.
Amazing property! Beautiful house and garden. Peter is an exceptional host. Highly recommend it. Five stars!!!
Peter's place is gorgeous and serene. He and Maureen are the perfect hosts, really nice and interesting people. The location is wonderful, especially the proximity to Capilano Canyon. The space is lovely and open, you feel you are in nature. Only the best things to say!
Peter was a wonderful host! The house is amazing, gorgeous and we had a truly amazing experience.
This property is a little architectural gem. For anyone looking for accommodation with a difference, it fits the bill. The house has been recently re-fitted and everything including kitchen and bathroom is new and stylish. We even had to take the ironing board out of its wrapping to use it! The house is quiet and the sleeping area is equipped with a very comfortable bed. The living area is light, airy and beautifully furnished.
Since we had a hire car, for which there was ample parking space on site, we had no problem with the location, driving into the downtown area of Vancouver and, on the last day, to the airport with ease. Closer to the house, on the same side of the harbour, is Marine Drive with Park Royal Shopping Centre and a choice of restaurants.
Peter was very welcoming and was flexible with our various requirements. He has recently built his own contiguous house next to the Airbnb property but privacy between the two dwellings has been maintained.
