Peter's place is gorgeous and serene. He and Maureen are the perfect hosts, really nice and interesting people. The location is wonderful, especially the proximity to Capilano Canyon. The space is lovely and open, you feel you are in nature. Only the best things to say!
Peter was a wonderful host! The house is amazing, gorgeous and we had a truly amazing experience.
This property is a little architectural gem. For anyone looking for accommodation with a difference, it fits the bill. The house has been recently re-fitted and everything including kitchen and bathroom is new and stylish. We even had to take the ironing board out of its wrapping to use it! The house is quiet and the sleeping area is equipped with a very comfortable bed. The living area is light, airy and beautifully furnished.
Since we had a hire car, for which there was ample parking space on site, we had no problem with the location, driving into the downtown area of Vancouver and, on the last day, to the airport with ease. Closer to the house, on the same side of the harbour, is Marine Drive with Park Royal Shopping Centre and a choice of restaurants.
Peter was very welcoming and was flexible with our various requirements. He has recently built his own contiguous house next to the Airbnb property but privacy between the two dwellings has been maintained.
coast modern was simply the perfect home from home.
Better than described, Peter was simply a fabulous host who made us feel so welcome on our honeymoon & provided lots of useful local tips.
Probably the most beautiful house we've ever stayed in... And a great location to explore the north shore or get back down town.
Thank you Peter
Fabulous accommodation in the perfect location! Tons of character and history, it's hard not to feel at home in the coast modern. Peter greeted us a few hours after check in and made us feel very comfortable. Ask him to tell you a bit about the history of the property.
Another great stay at coat mountain....
Fresh flowers in the flat at every visit is a great touch...:-)
Back in toronto now - but tad home sick for my "Vancouver home"
This was our first experience with AirB&B, and we were very pleased with the Coast Modern house. Peter the host was very responsive as we arranged to meet, and very pleasant, easy-going and helpful during the check-in. The house is small, but beautiful and perfectly furnished. As it turned out, it was also a rather well-known home in the area for those following midcentury modern architecture. We felt as if we were living in a museum (in a good way), and enjoyed just hanging out there. The back garden were equally beautiful and given that the entire back wall of the house was floor-to-ceiling glass, we felt as if we partly lived outside. This was an especially nice feature when we were visited one morning by a curious deer. Despite being in a residential area, the house was only 10 minutes to downtown Vancouver (outside of peak traffic times, during which it could take 40 minutes).
In the house, everything worked to our satisfaction, with the exception of the internet. While there technically is Wifi, the signal originates in a neighboring building, making it so that it only works in a small area of the house. It worked for email and simply web browsing, but it wouldn't hold Skype calls. We did mention this to the owner, who gave me the impression that he might be planning to address this.
The kitchen is a bit small and does lack a microwave and dishwasher, which would certainly be helpful. However, there is space for these items and the owner may also be planning to address this.
Overall, the house is a gem and Peter was perfectly charming. The property is a great place for one or two adults, and we would recommend it highly!
