If you're looking for a convenient location to stay in Seoul, this would be it. Albeit located near restaurants and pubs, the noise from street is at a bare minimum from the rooms. The rooms are of reasonable size, with sufficient space to open your hard-top luggages flat on the ground.
One drawback though, the house is located at the top of a slope. So if you have real heavy luggage, or you're limited by physical circumstances, you might want to re-think this one.
Youngwoo's place is ideal for anyone looking for somewhere central and/or first time in Seoul. Its 5mins to the station and in a good location - you just can't beat the price on offer! I highly recommend this place! The Location and Price is a big plus! Its spacious and clean and Youngwoo is a wonderful host. Whenever we asked for anything the response was immediate and he and his wife were very kind. They even offered us free kimchi on the first night which was nice! Also for western travellers, Itaewon is a good location for those wanting English speaking stores/shops/restaurants around. There are even guides that can help you get around if this is something that may help you on your trip but my friend and I were fine travelling around Seoul just with a few basic Korean words. Again I cant say more about this place as the host was just fabulous! My friend and I even traveled to Busan for a few days and he was kind enough to allow us to leave some luggage there till we returned. We even extended our stay by a week after that as it was just so convenient and nice! Thank you again Youngwoo!
Youngwoo was responsive, pleasant, nice. His English is quite good. His family was so friendly and warm to us. On New Year's day, his wife fed us the traditional Korean meal (duk guk) for the New Year.
The apartment is warm, clean, comfortable. The floors are heated in the traditional Korean way! Oh... it' so nice... Your feet are always so nice and warm. Every apartment in the wold ought to have heated floors
The apartment is on the ground floor of a 3 story building. The kitchen is minimally stocked, but has the essentials, i.e. stove, water kettle, refrigerator, flatware, plates, a toaster even. It could use a microwave.
The location is great. 5 minutes from the Itaewon subway station. Everything you could need is in the neighborhood. And, the subway station is centrally located, so it's easy to get to the other parts of the city.
The beds are hard, which I think is the norm in Korea.
The only downsides I would say are that that the place can feel "cave"-like, being on the ground floor. There are windows in the 2 bedrooms, but not in kitchen/dining room. As a result, we kind of felt the need to get out after a while and get some sun. The other thing is that one of the bedrooms is next to the walkway to the gate. And, so the gate closing can be noisy, and the motion-sensing light can shine into the bedroom.
Enjoy your stay in Seoul!
