Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Welcome to Sunset Mountain Casita, nestled in the hills of Vail, Arizona. It's a great getaway for couples or a safe space while traveling alone. Nearby you have hiking in state and federal lands, Tucson, fairgrounds, TIA airport and more ideas in our guide. We cater to people looking for non-toxic options such as no artificial scents or cleaners. Pets are welcome and have a fenced patio area. Large truck and trailer parking are also welcome as we have plenty of space and a roundabout driveway.

The space
Our 200sq ft casita has the feel of a tiny home that overlooks the most amazing view of Sahuarita through Tucson valley. This is not your standard hotel stay. It's tucked away down a well maintained dirt road on our homestead in a quiet rural area. A residence is next door which is great for any issues that may arise to be dealt with quickly. It's generally 10 degrees cooler here at nearly 4000 ft elevation. You'll find many local artisan touches in the space from the locally roasted coffee to desert artwork. You have your own parking area (Large trailers will be just down the driveway by a garage) in front of the casita and the patio is enclosed by a fence to give your furry friend a safe space to roam. The patio overlooks the mountain and city lights view with table, chairs and a lounger in case you want to sunbathe or watch the stars. We pride ourselves on sustainability meeting convenience.

As we cater to those with sensitivities and as such we do not use pesticides (we manually remove critters) and we provide natural body products and only use natural cleaners. (This means you may find the occasional spider or sometimes a scorpion will come in if you leave the door open for extended periods) Please do not use other cleaners, incense or scented candles, artificial fragrances or smoke on the property. Smoking in or around the casita comes with a $500 cleaning fee that will be billed after your stay for full remediation.

The casita offers both an indoor cooking space for light cooking with a toasting/baking oven with ceramic baking dishes, induction hotplate with stainless steel pot or you're welcome to utilize the spacious outdoor kitchen that has a sink, outlets and BBQ with all the necessary tools. We offer a Keurig with reusable pods or French press with our artisan locally roasted coffee, organic teas, low glycemic sweeteners and dairy free creamer. You can store your groceries in the mini-fridge with small freezer. We provide a Berkey to filter the already great tasting well water. **Dishes can be hand washed in the bathroom sink or outdoor kitchen area**

There is a queen sized bed with multiple thickness pillows for your comfort. There are extra blankets stored in case you get cold. For seating there is a beautiful live edge wood table with two barstools for eating inside or while relaxing with a show on the large TV where you can log into any of your accounts through Roku. We offer hardwired ethernet with provided cable (on the magazine stand) for those with electronic sensitivities but also have wi-fi available for your laptop and cell phone. The large walk in shower has a variety of my favorite Young Living all natural body products as well as a diffuser with day and night time pure therapeutic essential oils to enhance your stay.

Everything is cleaned with Young Living natural ingredient cleaning products.

**NEW that we provide are Arizona artist, cactus sunset natural soaps!!! Yellow Lark Soap makes these amazing treats for your skin, eyes and nose and each stay gets a one of a kind soap to take home! **

Browse through the local wildlife guides and the guest book full of fun options around the area and enjoy our little community Mexican, Italian or American food options 9 minutes away near the Houghton and Sahuarita Rd. intersection. If you have food restrictions, our closest markets are Sprouts in Green Valley(30 mins), Safeway or Fry's in Vail(30mins). We are often graced with the most gorgeous sunsets you can watch from your patio.

Guest access
You'll have your own attached outdoor enclosed patio for your furry friends. You're welcome to use the outdoor kitchen and BBQ.
There's also a stargazing bench that faces the darkest part of the sky where we can often see the Milky Way. Keeping the door open for extended periods of time especially at night invites critters to come inside when it's warm out!

Other things to note
Unfortunately the space is not small child friendly so I don't recommend this as a suitable option for guests with small children.

We live on a dirt road which can get interesting in heavy rain but we've always been able to get through in my small car. Our dirt road is actually better maintained than most around southern Arizona.

*Only approved guests on the property
*This is a quiet neighborhood. No parties.
*Being a rural area with several military, law enforcement and hunters there is occasional target practice you can hear during the days, mostly on weekends.

Rural neighborhood. Dirt roads, lots of space between houses and none of the hustle you'd get from being in town. Great for seeing the stars when it's so dark at night!
