Interaction with Guests
I am an experienced host and I will be there for you whenever needed.
So far I have had a lot of good experiences with my guests.
My home is in a 16th century monumental house (2 floors) and is situated in a quieter part of Amsterdam's city center, just a few minutes walk from the lively Dam Square, the canals and all the highlight that this great city has to offer. It is the perfect base for travelers who wish to explore Amsterdam’s nightlife. Many not-to-be-missed historic attractions, museums, and theaters are only a short walk from this listing. Both business and leisure guests will appreciate the room’s proximity to the city's excellent public transport system. I can advise guests regarding bus, train and tram service. Top shopping, bicycle rent shops and canal boats are around the corner.
Getting there and away:
Tram-stop Spui - 400 m (5 minutes walk)
Metro stop Nieuwmarkt - 500 m (6 minutes walk)
Central Railway Station – 1.1 km (15 minutes walk)
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport - 20 km
Other Things to Note
I would like to make your stay in my home a good experience for both of us. So I would like to inform you about two thing that are really important to me.
First of all direct communication; if there is anything that you want me to know, ask or something that bothers you, please let me know.
Secondly trust is a key value for me.
If anything is wrong then I do guarantee your money back. For example if you don’t like my place upon arrival. No questions asked from my side.
Trust and respect are very important for me. As host I am easy going not difficult to interact with. But I do ask to communicate any question or issues you might have. To make your stay as comfortable possible I will ask you to follow these 'rules':
- Be honest, If there is something on your mind please just tell me.
- Do not smoke in the house.
- Have respect for my neighbors and do not disturb them in anyway.
Check-in time is 3pm, and check-out is 11am (can be flexible with advanced notification).
Like many people have mentioned before the Manuels flat is in the perfect location. If you are debating if the price is worth the convenience. It definitely is. You end up about a 2-5min walk away from anything you want to see. In addition to making it very easy to find your way home if you ever get turned around in the city.
Manuel himself was a great host. Our first night we came in quite late, but he came and waited for us with no complaints. He even stayed and talked to us over a few drinks. We all had a great first night getting to know our host and felt very comfortable in the flat.
Recommendations for Amsterdam:
- Go to the Social Club. Good give and great music.
- If you have some extra money to spend. Go to MoMo. It a nice bar lounge at the edge of the canals. Great music and only locals.
We really enjoyed staying at Manuel's flat. It is in a great location, has wonderful amenities, and is a really comfortable place to hang out and rest before going back out. There are lots of narrow stairs to climb however, so be forewarned.
Really lovely apartment and so central too. Manuel was a very easy going host & offered to give advice about where to visit. Will def try and stay here again next time we come to dam!
A fabulous apartment with a fabulous host, our group of 6 had a great time. No complaints, and would definitely stay again!
Manuel was great! GREAT. He met us there early and gave us a comprehensive tour of the apartment and the surrounding area. When they invented the term "Location, location, location," they must have meant Manuel's place. The apartment was very roomy, well furnished and clean. I would definitely stay there again! Thanks Manuel! It was great meeting you.
The neighborhood was lovely, very close to everything. The apartment was beautiful. However, the host came several times unannounced and would not respect our privacy. After confrontation, it still occurred. Especially as a group of young women, this made us feel uncomfortable during our stay.
Sadly enough I had a bad experienced with this group of young kids.
It's so frustrating that every time I grabbed something from the storage room (located on the ground floor) there was an issue with her friends or with unknown people (mostly guys they knew). One incident (of many) involved a guy that I didn't know having keys to my home.
Having respect of privacy doesn't mean you could do whatever and expect the host to be silent. I think the group had bad manners and behaved childish once communicating about issues.
Manuel was an amazing host who was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insider tips about the city. The apartment was very clean and large enough to comfortably accommodate our group of six. The location couldn't be better for tourists as it's within walking distance of everything!
Overall, a great experience!

About the Host, Manuel
I am an easygoing and an open-minded guy that loves to travel. My interest in meeting new cultures and people is grounded in my roots, as I am half Dutch, half Peruvian and born in Indonesia. I believe that I have the Peruvian attitude in welcoming my guest and the Dutch approach in managing and setting up my new businesses.
I have explored Amsterdam for many years now and still think that there is much more to find out. The city and the party scene are extremely vibrant, but at the same time offers you plenty of opportunity to relax and just take in the atmosphere.
AirBnB has been a great platform for me and I am extremely proud that the AirBnB community has rewarded my effort with the Super host status!
