We had a great stay with Leeannee! She is a warm host and a very knowledgeable guide to the area for water activities; including those she offers from her own beach on the bay, to the open water as a professional snorkeling and diving guide.
We enjoyed excursions she arranged (snorkeling with whale sharks and sea lions) and she helped us get to the many attractions on land in La Paz. La Paz is a vibrant city with a families/locals feel that will give you real insight into the people and culture of the area - perfect for those who want to venture outside of a "resort only" vacation.
Casa Kootenay gives you most of the ammenities of a resort with the personal attention that you can only receive when you are welcomed into someone's home.
We highly recommend Leeanne and Casa Kootennay!
Our host Leeann, made us feels very welcome and included us in a supper bowl party, and where we felt totally at home. The house and setting were fabulous and I felt safe and at home. Our breakfast was delicious with eggs benedict and lots of rest fruit and juices. Our host taxied us to the marina where we had a sailing trip planned with friends and she could not have been more genuine and accommodating. I have no hesitation in recommending Casa Kootnenay to folks heading to La Paz! We hope to return and stay longer next time!
We were greeted at the door by Leeann who immediately made us feel welcome at Casa Kootenay. Our room had a very comfortable bed. The clubhouse had a huge Christmas tree. The Casa Kootenay roof top deck view was amazing. The entire place was just as described. We even had time to use the kayak and explore the mangroves located across the bay.
We walked from the Malecon to Casa Kootenay after snorkeling with the Whale Sharks. Another day we rode bikes down to the Malecon. We felt completely safe while wandering the streets.
Casa Kootenay was an awesome place to stay over Christmas. The breakfasts and Christmas dinner were amazing. Our only regret was that we wished we could have spent more time in La Paz before continuing our trip to Cabo.
Wow! A wonderful spot in La Paz. Leanne is a great host, making sure you are comfortable in every way. Good tip for other Airb&b hosts: On arrival at Casa Kootenay, you put your bags down outside of your quarters and are invited into the common area for a drink and a "get acquainted" talk. Great way to get started.
The rooms are in a separate building, but a courtyard away from the "big house". Amenities include a great breakfast, a roof-top deck with great views, kayaks (the beach is right outside), refrig in your room, and great WIFI.
Architectually designed, the main room has a spectacular view.
All this is great, but what sends Kootenay over the top is Leanne's genuine affinity for people.
Stay here when in La Paz.
Chaz and I had a wonderful time staying in your guest room and enjoyed your gourmet breakfasts and conversation. I loved the morning walks on the beach with you and appreciated you guiding me to the local mega grocery store to be able to cook in your outdoor mexican kitchen and picnic at Tecolete. It was a real treat when your other guests came back from Bandelara beach with clams and generously shared their fettucini with us. We did follow their advice and had an amazing organic brunch at Flora farms in San Jose del Cabo. We felt so secure in your home, and as Chaz said we should have stayed longer than two nights. You have an amazing home and we will be back for a longer stay, Thank-you so much for your generous hospitality and magical moments in Mexico. Vanessa :-)
