The view from the flat is across Evans Bay to the Miramar peninsula and the Rimutaka mountains as well as out to Cook Strait. (Miramar is Wellywood central and home to Weta Workshop and the Weta Cave). We have occasionally seen dolphins in Evans Bay and even a pod of orca once.

A third person can be accommodated on the king single sofa bed in the lounge. The price quoted is for two people. There is an additional charge of $37.50 per night for a third person. The maximum number of guests is three people. We are happy to accommodate parties of up to 3 people. The flat is suitable for families with children six years old and over, but is not set up for families with younger children or infants, so we cannot accept booking for families with children under six.
You will see from the photos that the flat has four bookcases stocked with books. They range from novels and poetry to art, history, science and travel (and there are even some cartoon books!). You are most welcome to browse and read during your stay.
Is it a handy location for shops and travel in to town or airport?
The flat is:
* 2 mins walk from Hataitai Village with bus stops, shops and cafes (including a laundrette, an excellent Thai restaurant and a specialist chocolate shop).
* 5 mins by bus into central Wellington/Courtney Place (no. 2 or no. 5), or a 25-35 min scenic walk along Grafton Road, down Grass Street and along the Oriental Bay waterfront. (You can also go this way on the no. 14 bus. It takes about 15-20 mins.)
* 5-7 min walk away from Hataitai Beach and cafes and eateries at Greta Point.
We are also handy to the airport - a 7-10min taxi ride away (and if our work schedules permit, we'll give you a lift to/from the airport).
If you are here for a big event like the Rugby 7s, World of Wearable Art or a film premiere, we should be able to drop you in town for your event to avoid parking costs and hassles.

Janet and Stephanie were most accommodating to our late night arrival, and left a set of keys for us to get into the apartment. They'd turned on the heat and the electric blanket so we were nice and cosy when we got in.
It's a beautiful apartment, nicely appointed.
What a fabulous introduction to our airbnb adventures! It was wonderful to arrive in the dead of night to find the flat was even better than it looked online, with so many little welcoming touches - fresh flowers, the choice of teas/coffee, heaters on to take the chill of the wet, cold Welly winter's night. J&S were so friendly and helpful, and the flat was just delightful - everything you could possibly want in the kitchen, and we really appreciated the heated towel rails, guest size shampoos/conditioners, the great collection of guides to Wellington and what was on, bus timetables, wi-fi, lovely comfy couch and we just loved the little dining nook with such amazing views of Evans Bay and the airport. The menus of local restaurants and takeaways that would deliver was a bonus when the weather put us off venturing out for something to eat too! Our hosts were not at all intrusive but were only a step away if we needed to ask anything. The location is perfect - close to shops and public transport and everything we needed. Cannot recommend this stay highly enough and look forward to returning there the next time we visit Wellington. Five stars is not enough!
Janet and Stephanie were very welcoming. They live in a lovely suburb.
I would recommend staying here and intend on staying again.
Thanks for a great stay! We loved the self contained flat, it's very cosy, well equipped and has lovely views over the water. Just perfect for the two of us! The location is excellent - only 5 mins drive into Wellington central, with local shops and restaurants an easy walk away. We would stay again!
Highly recommended! Janet is a kind and helpful host, who went the extra mile (and more). The flat is a gem: warm, spacious, great bed, well equipped, and a beautiful view of the water. Convenient public transport, grocery and restaurants; good walks on the doorstep -- a wonderful way to visit Wellington. Just A+ all 'round.
This is a great apartment with a nice location. The bed is really comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to make meals.
We had a wonderful stay in Janet and Stephanie's apartment. Loved the thoughtful touches, fresh flowers, fruit bowl, choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate ext. Information on Wellington available with map ext. Great view of the bay and close to city.
About the Host, Janet And Stephanie
Stephanie is a friendly, busy mother of two who works from home. She runs a consultancy helping organizations with long term thinking. Janet is a professional musician who plays the violin in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (let us know if you want us to book NZSO tickets for you). We have two lovely boys aged 15 and 12. We like cooking, reading, cycling, bush walking, watching movies and board games as well as most forms of art and sport - and the boys like video games too.
We speak a smattering of French, German, Italian, Spanish, Flemish, Dutch and Te Reo Maori between us. Our 15 year old is also learning Spanish at school and keen to chat! We love to meet people from all over the world. We did lots of traveling in our youth and are pleased that we can now host other people as they travel the world. We're a friendly and safe household to stay with, especially for women travelers.
There are no pets in the flat. There is a 'legacy' cat door, but the flat has been completely stripped and redecorated since the previous occupants a decade ago, so there are no issues re pet allergies. However, if you are animal lovers and missing your pets at home we have a very friendly golden retriever in our back garden whom you are welcome to meet. (She doesn't have access to the front garden where the flat and little flat patio is, so there's also no need to worry if you are not keen on dogs.)
