The Space

Frenchmen House is my home. I share it with my new dog, Charles (a huge, cuddly, Golden), Molly (king of the feline world), and my airbnb guests.

Victorian-style 100+ year old house on Frenchmen Street -- home of the best collection of jazz clubs in New Orleans -- and still only blocks from the French Quarter.

The house retains the architectural details that make New Orleans homes interesting and beautiful -- 13 ft. ceilings, transom windows, original wood floors, and double parlor with functioning pocket doors. Very few renovations have altered this original home, and its charm represents the homes of its era.

Great backyard for entertaining -- very private courtyard setting. Smoking is allowed in the backyard.

PARKING: Easy on street parking, no meters, no time restrictions and always spaces available on my block.

I now have three rooms listed, all with king-size beds -- one for the Red Room, one for the Rose Room, and one for the Green Room -- all three show up on my profile page.

The house is a side-hall shotgun, so unlike a traditional shotgun, one does not have to walk thru each room to get to the next.

The Rose Room is separated from the Green Room by a standard solid door. All adjoining-room-doors latch on both sides of each door for privacy. All entry doors to the rooms also latch from the inside for privacy.

To rent two or more rooms as a group, you simply book each room separately. Be sure to check the calendar for each room for its availability before booking the first room.

Each room is designed to accommodate two guests. If you book all three rooms, you may have additional guests at $10 per night per guest that exceeds six total guests.

Please know that it is never an issue leaving late and using the house on your departure day (leaving bags, hanging out, etc.) -- All I need is to start preparing the room for the next guest. You will never need to be out of the room before 11am. You can also arrive at the house early, even if your room isn't yet ready to check in.

The regular nightly rate does not apply during certain events, such as Mardi Gras and JazzFest. See calendar for more details.

Guest Access

Guests have full use of the kitchen and all other common areas - parlor with pool table, backyard, and two bathrooms, all shared with me and all guests.

Interaction with Guests

I always try to meet you when you first arrive at the house. After that, you will have a code to the front door and can come and go as you please. If I can't meet you for some reason, I can forward your code to you before you arrive, and you can let yourself in and make yourself at home.

During your stay, I try to be available if you need me and invisible if you don't need me.

The Neighborhood

I love that my neighborhood is just far enough away from the hubbub to be (relatively) quiet and actually be able to park a car, yet close enough to be in the midst of it all with a very short walk.

Getting Around

There is a streetcar line that runs up the river from the end of Frenchmen to the Convention Center and also easy transfers to both the Canal Street line and the St. Charles Ave. line. There are also bus stops right on the corner.

House Rules
May not be safe or suitable for children (0-12 years)
Check-in time is 1PM - 12AM (midnight).

The house rules are few and far between. I have only one real policy and that is no children under 15. The house is not suitable for children or the infirm.

Since we are all adults and learned the "golden rule" years ago, there really is no need for a list of rules. I want everyone to be comfortable.

Smoking is not allowed in the house but is allowed in the backyard.

I am a big fan of traveling and absolutely love Airbnb. I have met a lot of very cool people hosting on Airbnb, which seems to attract more adventurous, independent travelers.

Hope you are heading out for your own adventures in travel. Have fun.
