Only stayed for one night but wished it was longer! Loved the shipping container and waking up in a beautiful setting. Will come again!
Honestly the house is tidy, but the size is far out of my expectation, actually it is a 20-feet cargo refitted to become a house, however, some of the photos shown in Airbnb are NOT from that house, those photos are from the owner's own house which is just beside the house we were rented and cannot be used, there is also no mention of any additional fee that I can pay in order to use it as well, it is a misleading!! Besides, the road headed to the house is really tough. We have booked it for 9 nights, and we requested for terminating the rental within 24hrs because for the above reasons, of course the owner refused and finally we only got AUD 200 refunded.
But there are also things to be appreciated, e.g. the lovely kangaroos always come right outside the house in the morning~~
Hi Irene, one of the best things about airBnB is the ability to know a little about your guests before they arrive, I am a little disappointed that you have left it until now to express your feelings about your time with us, the fact that my contact when you were here was not with you but with your friend Cyrus is unusual, I only met you on the first night arrival when you did not use my directions to Tipaminka & got a little lost, I asked when you arrived if all was okay, you said yes, then told me you were going to Sydney for dinner, 150 klms away ? I was a bit concerned for your safety with such a long drive there & back considering you had to go to flying lessons next morning.
When Cyrus texted me & asked for termination I was shocked to say the least, in nearly three years we have had nothing but very happy guests, read our reviews, the road is a little bumpy, it is a country lane but really never any complaints, I did offer you an alternate road to use but you declined.
All the photos on the site are of the cabin, it is a 40' not 20' contained & all our guests are amazed as to what we have done with it !!
The refund was mutually agreed too with Cyrus, he said all was acceptable considering you did notify me of your decision the next day, the 24 hour refund policy is before you arrive, not after, what would you do in my position, I did after all heavily discount your stay as it initially was for 9 nights, but you did still stay 3 nights & I refunded accordingly, as I said Cyrus was happy, I imagined you were as well.
We do after all offer a cabin that is in the countryside giving you that experience yet we are still close enough to the town Cessnock if you need to go there.
I believe Irene if you had read the property profile properly you may have realised that it was not the right p[lace for your needs.
All the best, regards, Rod @ Rita @ 'Tipaminka' Comfy Country Cabin.
We stayed at Rod and Rita's cabin during a concert weekend @ Hope Estate. It was a lovely peaceful place to come home to after a night out and chill out in the morning.
It's a really nice place where you will feel at home straight away and relax the moment your drive through the gates of their property.
We will be back!
We booked the beautiful Tipaminka at the last minute during the Christmas-New Year break. Sadly, it was just for a one night stop over, whilst paying a quick visit to the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountains. Rod was brilliant at getting back in touch quickly to confirm the booking on Boxing Day and most helpful in providing very accurate instructions on how to get there.
Rod was there to meet and greet us and made us very welcome. I can confirm, along with visitors before us, that Rod and Rita have created a delightful peaceful haven, which is cosy and comfortable, providing all the essentials, with a few luxuries, including a shower, mp3 player and TV (latter not required by us). The ergonomic design of the containers was brilliant and the deco was very tasteful. Everything was very clean and the beds most comfortable. The location is surrounded by trees and the sights and sounds of nature. It is an area rich in birds and wildlife. I really do hope I can get back to Australia soon to spend more time visiting the beautiful countryside. Tipaminka will be our first port of call so that we can take full advantage of everything the cabin has to offer. Sitting around the fire, cooking on the bbq, discovering more of the wildlife and following up on some of Rod and Rita's local tips and knowledge. Thank you both for this brief but wonderful memory during our winter break from the UK. xxx
I and my dad stayed for 4 nights at Rodney and Rita's cabin. My dad fell in love with the place on his first step to the porch and he became amazed at what Rod has done to the cabin, shipping container converted to a cabin. The place is very clean, hotel standard, in fact, it's the only place from Airbnb so far (I'm new) that I used the provided towels. 2 rooms, placed at each end of the cabin, very private, and roomy. We loved the morning walk, spotted so many kangaroos, lots of birds, breathed in fresh air. The drive up to the cabin was difficult, but I was told because it rained so much previous weeks. We were in a rental car so it was a little concern to drive in and out, but it was all worth it once we were back at the cabin. It is a 15 - 20 mins drive from vineyards area. Rod and Rita were very nice hosts. They made us feel so welcome. Rod was actively watching out for anything we might need and providing assistance: directions, restaurants, vineyards..etc. If I come back to the Hunter region, I would definitely want to stay here again.
We mentioned following our last visit that we'd definitely be back!
This was our second stay at Tipaminka and again it proved to be the perfect pre-race homebase for our latest attempt at the 175Km GNW100 miler (which we finished this time in just under 35 hours).
Our only complaint... we couldn't stay longer!
We'll be back, although we may not be tackling the GNW100 again. That one's definitely been ticked off the bucket list.
We had a lovely time at the cabin. Listening to the much needed rain falling on the roof and resting in the very comfortable beds was just what we wanted for our weekend escape in the Hunter Valley. Rod was a very friendly host and the cabin was a great choice. Oozing charm it sits in a lovely position enveloped by bush and the wondrous sounds of nature. We would definately return and would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting the area.
