The space

Welcome! the cottage is a nice blend of historic and modern elements.

At ground level, there is the combined kitchen/ living room, where you can lounge, it work, or eat surrounded bylots of windows for natural light.

A fabulous spiral staircase leads you upstairs to the large bedroom with vaulted ceilings, two skylights, and full deluxe bathroom with tile floor and clawfoot tub. The bed is super comfortable, high quality queen.
The kitchen is super-functional, with double sink, spacious granite countertop, gas range, induction burner, convection oven, ample fridge.

A table set on the porch perfect for dining with a view of a quiet garden and historic houses.

Guest access

You have the entire cottage to yourself. For guests staying a week or more, access to laundry in main house basement a few steps away.

Interaction with guests

I'll be happy to greet you when you arrive, if I am in town and depending on the hour. Otherwise, you can get the key from the lockbox. Any questions about the place, or about Portland, once you're settled in, please do message me.

The neighborhood

Very central, extremely vibrant. Truly there are more cafes and restaurants than I can keep track of, but I can recommend a few of my favorites. Portland was the original microbrew ground-central, and there are in this neighborhood in particular a ridiculous number of brewed-on-site pubs. An eclectic mix of clothing stores, ice cream shops, cafes and restaurants are minutes away by foot. The amazing New Seasons grocery/bakery/deli is a 5 minute walk away.

Getting around

Lots of buses within a couple blocks. Light rail is a 15 minute walk away. Very affordable bicycle rental by day/week is a short walk. Citybbije share station 5 minute walk. 10-15 minute bike ride to downtown. A 20 minute drive to/from the airport (take Columbia blvd way, rather than I-84 during commute hours!)

Other things to note

The clawfoot tub may be a bit hard to use if you have balance issues or have difficulty stepping up into such things.

Chris was a wonderful host, and the house was exactly as described. The neighborhood was wonderful as well -- very walkable with great restaurants, coffee, and nightlife. We had a great time staying at Chris' place!

Charming 2 story craftsman of recent construction. Fully equipped kitchen, tight house insulation that keeps things cool if you ventilate at night and shut the house up before you leave for the day. Great convenient location in N. Williams neighborhood. Just be sure to lock up your bike in the provided garage, as bicycle theft is a problem in all of Portland.

Chris was a great host, attentive but giving us our space. His little house is a joy: simple, comfortable and stylish, with beautiful timberwork and attention to detail. It's a short stroll along leafy streets to interesting but affordable cafes and restaurants, parks and a fabulous supermarket.

Christopher made our stay so easy and relaxing. The little house is just perfect! It has everything you could need and is adorably comfortable. There's plenty of fun stuff in walking distance while still feeling secluded enough to be relaxing and quiet. I just can't say enough how cute this place is.

Christopher was a very warm, welcoming and gracious host. His listing and all the positive reviews are spot on! 5* all the way around. The location strikes the perfect balance of privacy, charm and being just a short walk from lively entertainment. My stay was 2 weeks in duration and there was still more to see and do nearby. A triumph in the airbnb community.

This perfect cottage for two was one of our favorite aspects of visiting Portland. It is clean, spacious and cozy. With no tv and minimal technology it inspired great conversations and a relaxing retreat.

Great cottage in an amazing location! The apartment was perfect for two of us for a long weekend and only a 5-10 mi ute walk to Mississippi or Williams and a 7 mi ute drive downtown. Christopher was attentive and made sure we had everything we need.

Christopher User ProfileChristopher is a superhost.

I have a strong interest in sustainable, bikeable, walkable cities. I love Portland because so many people here share a vision for a human-scaled city.
I don't use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), but would be pleased to meet you face to face :)
