One bedroom apartment on the top floor of a fine Victorian building in the heart of Soho.
The apartment is in Broadwick Street, five minutes walk from both Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus underground stations and connects Carnaby Street (famous for fashion since the 1960's) and Berwick Street (known for its open air food market). As well as fashion boutiques this part of Soho is now known for a number of small high quality restaurants with a Michelin starred restaurant only a few doors away on Broadwick Street.
The apartment is modern, spacious, very bright and has excellent views. There is sole access to a huge roof terrace. Despite being centrally located the apartment is very quiet at night.
Facilities include air conditioning, jacuzzi, wireless broadband Internet, wide-screen LCD TV with terrestrial and Freeview channels, a fully equipped kitchen with oven, gas hob, microwave, expresso/cappuchino machine, fridge etc.
With a double bed in the bedroom and a comfortable sofa-bed in the sitting room the apartment can sleep up to four people. The sofa-bed can also be separated into two single beds.
The area of the apartment is 42.7 square metres (460 square feet) and it is situated on the third floor (which is the top floor) without a lift. The agent will help you with your luggage when you arrive.
Oxford Circus is 15 minutes on the Central line from Liverpool Street main line station (for Stanstead Airport or South End Airport). Oxford Circus is also 10 minutes on the Bakerloo Line from Paddington (for the Heathrow Express). Oxford Circus is also 10 minues on the Victoria line from Victoria Main Line station (for the Gatwick Express). Piccadilly Circus is ideal for the Piccadilly line direct to Heathrow.
Check in time is usually from 2pm onwards although if there is no guest departing on the day you arrive you can check in earlier. Check out time is usually 11am or earlier although if there's no guest arriving on the day you depart you can check out later.
Please note that for guests arriving after 10pm and there is a £20 surcharge payable directly in cash to the agent who meets you at the apartment. The latest check in time is midnight.
Ian contacted me just prior to my arrival and we made arrangements for his property manager to meet me, and he did so promptly at the designated time: very professional and prompt. The flat's location in Soho is outstanding: close to shops, restaurants, two major tube stations--you could not do better. The flat itself is how is appears in the photos, was clean, and quite comfortable. Do note there are 49 steps up to the thirds floor flat. The kitchen itself is good but it lacks adequate cooking utensils, pots and pans--this is my only criticism. The beds, bedding and towels were fine and the TV was pleasant distraction after a long day of traversing the city. All in all my experience was excellent. I would certainly recommend this flat to others, with or without children.
The location is great for the active vibe of Soho. The apartment is secure and safe with quiet neighbours. Ian was very responsive with all my emails before arriving, but I actually didn't meet him or speak with him whilst there. However the apartment itself, for me, was compromised. The skylight actually created a hot house even with just a little sun and low 20 degrees temp, with no way to cover it off. Airconditioner didn't help much, and it needed the window open for the hose which meant a very noisy apartment. A lot of noise during the night and early morning does travel directly up to the apartment. The bathroom had a bad smell of drainage problems, and urine smell in the bath (perhaps to do with the very dirty, mouldy shower curtain). The hot water pressure was very poor in the bathroom, toilet flush and kitchen. The spare sheets and bed covers was full of hair, I think from the basket it was held in which was very dirty. The fridge had partly eaten leftover food.
I don't normally respond to reviews but in this case I must note that this guest has told a few untruths and misrepresented the apartment. My agent tells me that in over fifteen years they were the most difficult guests that he has ever dealt with. He was inside the apartment when they arrived as arranged and so their comment about an arrival problem is an untruth. It should be noted that they didn't leave the apartment at the time they had agreed to and refused to admit the cleaner. During their stay they managed to break the toilet flush through sheer ineptitude and reported a problem with the shower when there was none. I regularly inspect the apartment for cleanliness and so I can only put their other comments down to spite and malice. Apparently they were complaining even before entering the apartment because of the flight of stairs to this third floor location. Their one valid comment was a low water pressure from the kitchen hot water tap which is in the process of being repaired. I would strongly discourage other owners from allowing these guests to stay in their apartment.
Ian Potter is truly a Professional Gentleman! His follow-up is impeccable. Was pleased to have stayed in his flat central located in London. The location was absolutely phenomenal. A breeze to get to and from the airport to the flat.
Ian is a very nice and wonderful host . Everything has gone very well . From the reservation to the key-handling. The flat is perfect in the heart of Soho and although she is located in the middle of the City it is very quiet and the magnificent view over the rooftops of London is just priceless . I would recommend this apartment again .
L'accueil de Nick était parfait : souriant, sympathique et arrangeant. L’appartement est idéalement situé, tout est à portée de pieds : monuments incontournables, shopping, spectacles, restaurants, commerces alimentaires, stations de bus et de métro. Une très belle semaine à Londres.
L'appartement est vraiment bien placé. On peut aller à pieds rapidement à Picadilly, China town, Regent street et Oxford street. Tout en étant dans un quartier très animé, l'appartement se trouve dans une rue un peu à l'écart, moins passante. L'appartement est calme (voisins non bruyants) mais on entend la circulation de la rue le matin. Le logement est lumineux.
Je vous conseille vraiment ce logement.
