Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
There are many houses in Taos for visitors to choose from, but this one stands out for it's authenticity and charm. Built by men from the Taos Pueblo in the 1940's for the artist Charles H. Reynolds and his wife Ruth, it is unique and very lovely.
Please be aware that there is one step down on the porch and one step up inside the casita to access the bathroom and office area. Folks with mobility issues may find this difficult. Feel free to inquire if you have questions.

The space
This home is the slightly smaller side of a sprawling duplex. It has its own entrance and two large, enclosed yards. It is furnished with many of the original antiques, and the walls are hung with paintings by the Taos artist Charles H. Reynolds and others. You will feel like you have stepped back in time, surrounded by the thick adobe walls and hand carved beams in the ceilings. The fireplace crackles with pinion wood fires in the winter, scenting the air with it's fragrance. The home is quite spacious, about 1300 square feet.
The casita is cooled with an evaporative cooler in the summer months. We do not have standard air conditioning, and it is not common in Taos as we are at 7000 ft in the mountains and we have very low humidity. The average night time temps are in the low 50’s.

Guest access
The casita has one bedroom with a queen bed, a sunroom with a single bed, and a sweet cubby in the office area with another twin bed. Guests who have trouble navigating a single step may want to find a different location, as there is one step on the patio, and one step inside the casita to access office and bathroom.
A fully equipped kitchen/ dining area and living room with the fireplace and the TV. The bathroom is tiled with Mexican tiles and has a shower and a tub. There is also a small office area with the desk. The house has fenced yard front and back.

Other things to note
The casita has an evaporative cooler for use in the summer months. We are at 7000 ft in the mountains and the evenings stay quite cool, usually around 50 degrees, with very low humidity. The evaporative cooler also adds humidity, and most folks find the casita quite comfortable. If you require a standard air conditioner you should check other places. They are rare in Taos, but you may find a place that has them.
For guests who have trouble navigating steps, please be aware that there is one step down on the patio and one step up to access office and bathroom. I’ll be happy to answer any questions from travelers concerning this.

I am a third generation Taoseña. My maternal grandparents moved to Taos from Oklahoma in 1945, after years of vacationing here so my Grandfather could paint the exquisite scenery of northern New Mexico. They eventually opened a gallery on Kit Carson Road and hired men from Taos Pueblo to build this adobe home. I have been caring for this house they built for over thirty years, and have helped to create it in its present form, as a delightful place where guests can truly experience the real Taos, New Mexico. Thank you for taking a look at my listing, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
