Valentina and her mum received us very well. The house is tidy and very spacious, with nice views from Mt Vesuvius. Is a bit far from the city but if you have a car is good as you have plenty of off street parking and you can park close to the metro to go to the city. Breakfast was nice and it has wifi (not very fast though).
The design of the house means that voices can be noisy sometimes, but it was quiet by bed time. Bed is comfortable.
All in all I can not recomend the offer from Valentina.
Starting with the positive aspects of the stay i have to name the friendly way Valentina and her family welcomed us and treated us during the stay. They gave us their parking space and named us a place where we could wash our clothes.
On the negative aspects our room was not very clean. Valentinas daughter screamed very loud and long during the evening and night when we wanted to sleep. The breakfast was only consistend of a packed craoissant and esspresso with milk, which was ok but not really enough to call it breakfast. The only person in the household speaking English was Valentinas boyfriend. We also got no keys to get into the house to be more flexible. Since her mother was in the house allways it was ok though. The area where the house is located is ok if you compare it to the rest of neaples.
All in all the stay in san sebastian was the worst on our 2 weeks trip through Italy with 10 different locations.
We appreciate the time and attention we received from Valentine and her family. Although we had a wonderful time in San Sebastiano, our stay with Valentine was the low point of our trip to Italy. Although we had difficulty finding her place, this was our fault, not hers. (Although it should be a simple matter to put a good map on her AirBnB site.)
When we arrived Valentine graciously offered to upgrade us to a room with a private bath, the room was in the attic and had not fan or ventilation. We asked for a key so that we could come and go as we pleased, but we were told that we would have to make arrangements with the family before we left each day to make sure someone would be home and could let us back in. We were also told that we had to be home by 22:00 each evening. Both of these tended to limit our flexibility - especially when we met a local person who invited us to dinner one evening. We had to politely decline because it was already 21:00 and we need to be back by 22:00.
We were also disappointed to see that Valentine was quite unprepared to host guests visiting the area. She had no maps available - either of San Sebastiano or the region. She could not even tell us where we could find a map - although we later learned that the village office has maps available. We spent the better part of our first day in San Sebastiano searching for a map just so that we could find our way back to the house when we took trips to Pompei and Sorrento.
It is a bit ironic that Valentine's asks her AirBnB guests to respect the fact that her home is a family environment, as the most unpleasant part of our stay was the fact that Valentine's daughter screamed each night for over an hour (from (phone number hidden)). We're not sure whether it was because she was ill or if she was having a tantrum about going to bed. We never asked for an explanation, nor were we given one. Perhaps Valentine felt there was no reason to apologize to her guests for this behavior.
It seems that others may have had a fine stay with Valentine, but we did not. As I said, we appreciated their friendliness and the gift of dried peppers they gave us when we left, but we will not stay here again and cannot recommend this place to others. We stayed in 14 different places during the four weeks we were in Italy and this was by far the worst experience of our trip.
Staying at Valentinas place was a very nice experience. Valentina, her mother and her little child ( very cute girl) welcomend us very friendly and we felt very familiar with them. We even had a nice breakfast in the morning. They were really interested in us and we had a nice conversation with them. We would absolutely recommend this place to other guests.
Valentina and her mother were good hosts and were helpful in aiding us to get to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii.
A delightful home at the foot of the mount!
We especially loved the view from the balcony!!!
Charming hosts who made us feel welcome and at home;
They shared knowledge and travel tips to ensure that we had a marvelous stay
The room is nice and situated in a quite road, a quick drive to the vesuve.
Valentina accepted us even though we were arriving a little late so that was nice.
She asked us at what time we would want our breakfast and left it on the door the following wmorning, which was nice.
Valentina and her mother were very kind and hospitable. When we could not find a restaurant for dinner her mother offered us a tasty meat casserole.
The room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the attic room where you must climb many stairs.
I would recommend this very nice house and family to anyone traveling in the area.
Thank you Valentina!
Uh, is was a bit of an experience, trying to find this place and staying at the house! It is reachable by bus, and those buses have no schedule at all. Breakfast is not included, as listed, and there are language barriers with the hosts. However, they were trying to be nice, but you can see they are not used to having guests.
