Located in Logan Square, which is one of Chicago's most-desirable neighborhoods, this charming greystone apartment has been tastefully decorated by the resident, who is an interior & event designer.
Amenities include: hardwood floors throughout, a bright sunny living and dining room, HD cable, wireless internet, forced-air heating, window-unit air conditioning in each bedroom (which cools the whole space), access to a full kitchen, a communal backyard/patio that features cafe bulbs and a grill. It's perfect for hanging out in the summer and fall! The front stoop is ideal to sit with a cocktail and watch as evening falls. There is also a free washer & dryer in-unit.
The space features a mix of antique, vintage, and new furnishings. Rugs were sourced from Morocco, Berlin, and Turkey. The farm table is a family heirloom that's been passed down through generations. The 70's aluminum-frame club chairs will hopefully be reupholstered in grey leather very soon…We have tons of art & design books, lots of rad magazines, and are always changing and adding the the art on our walls.
There are two bedrooms: the queen bedroom bedroom and the full bedroom. The bedrooms are cozy, quiet, and comfortable, each able to sleep 2. Someone could also comfortably sleep on the couch, as it's 8 ft. long and we provide sheets, pillows, and a down comforter. There is space enough in each bedroom for kiddos to sleep on the floor or in a Pack n' Play (you must provide). Beds will be dressed in fresh, clean linens (high-thread-count sheets, down comforters) on the day of your arrival and high-quality, clean towels will be provided for in-home use. You must bring your own bathroom items, but I do have a hair dryer w/diffuser, Chi flat-iron, and a curling iron available for guests.
We live on a charming, quiet street with plentiful free street parking, no permits needed! There is always a spot close to the apartment.
We are LGBTQ allies and are family-friendly!
Guests will have access to the entire apartment, EXCLUDING the closets. There is incredibly limited closet/storage space and we are making the most of it! However I can arrange to have a garment rack available if needed or there are hooks on the back of the bedroom doors for hanging coats and a few articles clothing.
I am always available via text & email. If I am out of town, I will provide an in-town contact person in the event of emergencies.
The apartment is within walking distance to some of the best restaurants and bars in the city, including: Longman & Eagle, Lula, Parson's, Reno, Billy Sunday, Scofflaw, Slippery Slope, The Radler, Revolution Brewing, Yusho, Fat Rice, The Whistler, Boiler Room, Masada, Parts & Labor and more! Also within 5 mins. walking distance: an organic food co-op, Logan Square Farmer's Market, The Logan Movie Theatre, Intellegencia, Gaslight Coffee Roasters, many parks, liquor stores, a library, a flower shop, a bike shop, (email hidden)!
The apartment is located 2 blocks from the Blue Line, which is only 2 stops from Wicker Park, a 15 minute ride downtown to Millennium Park, Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, all museums, the beach, etc. The Blue Line also takes you directly to and from O'Hare (30 minute ride).
Public transit is just outside your door! The Blue Line (El train) is 2 blocks away and you have immediate access to the Fullerton, Milwaukee, and Kedzie bus.
The apartment is a classic Chicago apartment in great vintage condition. This means that while it is very charming, it does come with some older-home quirks! The front door sticks when it's terribly humid and the heater rumbles when it turns on. These things certainly don't bother us, but if you're expecting to stay in a pristine hotel with key-card entry…This might not be the website for you.

Had a lovely stay in this beautiful gray stone in Logan Square. Great location and very comfortable bedding :)
Dean's apartment is on a beautiful street in a great location. A short walk to lots of great stuff in Logan Square. The place was clean and thoughtfully decorated. For us though, it didn't feel relaxed or totally comfortable. There were lots of rules about things to be aware of, not touch, etc. The heat didn't distribute well in all the rooms, and when I went looking for a throw blanket to curl up with, I found that two were scratchy and the other one probably wasn't used in awhile and smelled musty. Things like this made the place seem more geared towards looking good than being practical or comfortable. Also, there is one photo in the listing of a well stocked bar cart. All of this alcohol is totally off limits to guests.
Sorry that you didn't feel totally comfortable, Andrea! I wish you'd responded to my texts and asked about blankets-- There are tons of comfy quilts and extra down comforters that I would have happily directed you to. Because this is our apartment, and not strictly an Airbnb rental, some things do have to be "off limits", like our personal closets and the bar…I wish we were wealthy enough to invite all of our guests to use the bar freely, but that's not the case :) Hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise!
This was easily a 5/5 experience. The place actually was as good as the pictures made it out to be. Dean was prompt in responding to us and she had a number of little touches that indicated she took the whole airbnb hoting seriously (such as fabulous sheets, white fluffy towels and great notes about the neighbourhood and good eats close by). The location was convenient (2 blocks from the blue subway line and easy to get wherever we wanted without renting a car). We found that getting a 3 day Ventura subway pass was really worthwhile. Our 3 top don't misses were the Longman & Eagle pub (2 blocks away) and the impressionist section of the Chicago Institute of Art and the Architectural Society's river tour. The house was quiet, clean, beautiful. We travel a great deal and we would say that both Chicago and this location are now pretty much top of our list. This beats a hotel room any day. It was great to come "home" after full days of Chicago sightseeing. We will return.
Dean's home was so beautiful! We wanted EVERYTHING in there. She was so kind to leave a detailed list of places to try in the neighborhood and I wish we had more time to explore the area. One of the bars that she recommended near the apartment served the best gin and tonics ever. It was a great spot for the quick trip we made to Chicago-- cozy and homey, good shower (I used to live in an older building too and was really impressed with the water pressure, ha) and really comfortable beds. Close to the train and an easy $10 Lyft to downtown. Recommended, especially if you want more of a "neighborhood" experience.
The host's apartment was just as lovely as I expected, bright and clean, in a great neighborhood. The host was thoughtful and responsive, as well as thorough. I would stay there again!
We had a lovely time in Chicago. Dean's apartment is close to lots of culinary experiences which made our trip. Apartment was clean, close to transport links and most importantly, had comfy beds!
I'm from the South, lived in LA for 7 years, and am now happily settled in Logan Square, an up-and-coming neighborhood in Chicago that boasts many restaurants, theatres, galleries, bars, boutiques, and independent businesses.
I am an interior designer & event producer. I love hosting, entertaining, and providing a great experience for anyone visiting my city. Other things I love: my corgi Bunny, thrifting, road trips, late nights and early mornings, travel adventures (especially international), photobooths, champagne, lots of laughing and dancing.
