"Metaxourgeio—The district of Metaxourgeio represents a unique neighborhood in the historic center of Athens, and has become a bohemian enclave as well as a haven for art and culture. As part of the area's continual transformation, in October of 2010 the principal gallery of the city, The Municipal Gallery, was relocated to Avdi Square, which is the main square of the area. Avdi Square it is a large, public space that is well suited to artistic expression of all kinds."
"The area around the Kerameikos station, called Gazi (Γκάζι, gas) has been the gay village of Athens for quite a few years. Since the opening of the metro station, in 2007, the neighbourhood has attracted all kinds of crowds. This is a home to dozens of bars, cafés and clubs, gay or not, as well as to small theatrical scenes, the latter one especially to the northeast of the area, towards Metaxourgeio."

There is a very large supermarket just 5 minutes walk from the apartment.
The two bus stops which will take you too and from the Centre of Athens are only 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Trolley No. 12 will take you directly to Omonia Square or Syndagma Square where you can begin your city tour. There is also the Metro station about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. If you use the Metro Station, you should be aware that every Metro station is a museum in itself , where antiquities found during the excavations for the building of the Metro have been put on exhibition. So it is an experience on its own to use the Metro and get off at each stop to see what has been found.
Also the central bus station for Northern Greece is 15 minutes away so you can continue your journey from here.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Take a walk to the nearby Platia (Square) where you can have a traditional SOUVLAKII at one of the local taverns. You can take the Metro to Monastiraki ( Flee Market) and discover Monastiraki & Thission districts. Walk around the Acropolis from Thission and find yourself walking where the Philosophers were teaching! Forget modern Athens and discover what gave birth to democracy and so much more revolutionary ideas
Athens changes! Directly in the centre of the city around the Acropolis a large archaeological park has been built with many paths, pedestrians and low traffic streets. With a bicycle, you can relax, enjoy and discover hidden Athens. Take a ride to the new Acropolis museum or explore the hidden streets in old Athens (Plaka). On a bike you will able reach locations that are sometimes difficult for pedestrians to access and a lot more ground can be covered, giving you more time to admire and photograph important ancient monuments and sights that are found around the Acropolis.
With your booking for this lovelly apartment in the center of Athens, you can also arrange for a private tour guide, who will show you the most beautiful parts of this very historic city.
The best way to see Athens is by walking. A pleasant walk through the National Gardens to the magnificent Oympic Stadium, through the narrow streets of Plaka, the first city built when Athens became capital of Greece, to traditional tavernas for a typical Greek meal, some shopping in Monasitraki (the Flee market), and to the most important and impressive site in Athens, The Parthenon and the new Acropolis museum, and other ancient ruins which you will see during the walk.
Another interesting tour which you may be interested in is the Food Tasting - this would take you to parts of Athens which very few tourists encounter. This could also include a visit to Lycabettus Hill which you reach by cable car.
A trip to a close-by Island can also be arranged (weather permitting)
If you are interested please let me know and I will give you the contact details of the guide, who will give you details of what you can expect and prices (which are very reasonable for the service you will receive).
As we all know, the best way to see a new city is when everything is arranged for you and you do not need to worry about what to see and how to get there.
As a traveller myself and an Airbnb host and guest, it will be my pleasure to help you in any way possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
I had a very nice stay in Leandros appartment. There was anything we need and something more.
This part of the city is not so fancy but you can walk from here in around 25 minutes to the center.
Leandro's place was extremely good! The apartment was very clean and organized and it includes absolutely everything you need! It is very close to the center of Athens and minutes away from public transportation. The host was very polite and helpful! We would definitely stay there again!
My boyfriend and I had a great time at Leandros space. it was in a clean with lots of space. a good place to come back to and relax after a long day of exploring. the location was not to far away from the city center, making it convent to get around. plus Leandros provided us with clean towels, shampoo and conditioner. even coffee and milk in the frig. ! truly amazing airbnb experience!
Leandros's place was very comfortable, close to the local grocery shop, and I enjoyed spending 2 weeks here. Leandros is a great host and made every effort to make sure my needs we're attended to. Highly recommended!
We loved staying in Leo's apartment in Athens. It was clean, spacious and the neighborhood was quiet. Everything worked perfectly and we wished we had stayed longer. The only issue was when we left. We were not told exactly where to put the key and in every place we've stayed, we left it behind the door. He never told us that the door locks automatically. It hurts that we are now being accused of not following rules when we left the place spotless, and even restocked it with olive oil, condiments, and laundry detergent for the next guests.
i definitely explained to the guests that upon their departure to leave the keys at the same spot they found it on their arrival...ON the table... i did not accused them for LOCKING the door but for leaving the keys behind the door...that in result was that i could not put the key and open the door... and they knew it... because if they didn't they would have been outside the apartment the previous nights they stayed... they made a mistake and dont admit it... no problem...
have a great time and keep in mind that all over the world keys behind a door dont let you put other set of keys from the outside...!!!
Leandro's apartment was absolutely wonderful. We met his father at the apartment (15 mins walk after getting off bus stop from airport) and his father was so welcoming.
The place was so clean and was very charming to stay in. This is 100 times better than staying in a hotel!
There are many cafes within 5 mins walk of the apartment, a McDonalds around the corner, and a big supermarket on the main road - very convenient.
In the fridge, Leandros also provided us with welcoming carton of milk, bread, jam, coffee, tea - everything for breakfast.
Terrific place, absolutely recommend it!
Nice apartment, a helpful and welcoming host.
Leandros was very relaxed and helpful, the flat was quiet and with alot of extras and we had a great time there.
We loved to stay at Leandros' place! He was very welcoming, the bed was confortable and he left us breakfast ready, wich was a plus.
The apartment is a bit far from the center of the city but it's really easy and fast to get there by public transportation (which works very Well). I totally recommend Leandros as a host and his apartment to spend a lovely time in Athens.
