This first floor studio apartment is in Logan Circle, one of DC's most centralized neighborhoods famous for unique restaurants and nightlife. This building is an easy walk from the monuments, museums, White House and three metro stops. The apartment has hardwood floors, lots of natural light and comes with an internet connection. Their is a window air conditioning unit that is very powerful and can be set to whatever temperature keeps you comfortable. Street parking is available overnight but is only 2 hours between 7AM and 9PM. However for an extra $30 I can get you a two week visitor parking pass which allows you to park all day on the street. I love welcoming people and connecting them to the sights and attractions that this great city has to offer.
The building itself is a medium sized apartment complex - 5 floors with an old elevator. It is a blue collar building, nothing fancy and filled with a diverse mix of young professionals and families . The apartment is simple - a leather desk chair, a lazy boy chair, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and queen-sized bed. For travelers with computers and tablets with them I also have an HDTV television equipped with an HDMI cable so you can relax to a movie or television series streamed from your device.
Very little. I set things up as much as possible so guests come and go without being bothered. I am happy to grab a beer though with guests if they would like to talk to a local! Just let me know!!
One of the hottest neighborhoods in DC. 14th street is a quick 3 min walk away and is the epicenter of DC's food and bar revival! It is also a central point to other areas of interest in the city including the mall, downtown, Dupont Circle and the U st area.
Close to Mt. Vernon Plaza metro (.33 miles), Mcpherson Square (.6miles) and Dupont and Metro Center (.9 miles). You are within walking distance to all major metro lines. You are only a little more than a mile from the heart of downtown and the mall and can take buses easily as well to get to most hot spots! Cabs and Ubers are also easy to come by and one rarely waits more than 5 minutes. There is also a Capital Bikeshare, (website hidden), for folk who prefer to bike, only two blocks away at 11th and M.
Sometimes the neighbors/ first floor location can make the apartment a bit loud during the afternoon but it has always been quiet during the night. My place is a better spot for people looking for a no frills, comfortable spot in a great central location. People who plan to spend most of their time in the room, and are looking for a hotel like experience should definitely look elsewhere.
Very nice studio in a great location.
We didn't meet Charlie person, but his housekeeper Marie, whose gave us the keys, show everything. Everything was as promised, great location, silent and safe. Thank you for accommodation.
Check in was hassle free, everything was as described. Great instructions to points of interest and good places to eat, thanks Charlie!
We had a good time staying at Charlie’s bachelor apartment. It’s in the perfect location, so we only used the metro when arriving and leaving Washington. The subway stations are easily accessible and close to the apartment but we just found that the city was very walkable, especially from/to Charlie’s place. The apartment itself was a simple, tidy place - albeit very much a student’s style apartment. It was a tad dusty, but this wasn't a big problem since we spent most of our time out seeing the city. The humidity in Washington was quite high so it was great to come home to a comfortable, air conditioned place at night. We felt safe in the neighbourhood, one night even hanging out till 10:30 pm people watching at the Logan’s Circle monument just north of the apartment. The price and location, in our opinion, are reason to book with Charlie and we definitely would again. Thanks Charlie!
The location was great, very close to the centre. Charlie arranged for his housekeeper to bring the keys, which worked out perfectly. The appartement was clean. However, the shower is rather old and you hear the neighbours quite well. On the whole i would recommend going there.
I had a little trouble getting in the room, but Charlie (and his team!) responded quickly and resolved the problem soon, and gave me a discount for the inconvenience. The location of the room is excellent, and the description he provides of it seems just right; it's not a space to spend all day in, but it's an excellent spot for anyone who wants to use it as a jumping off point for being in the heart of DC.
a small studio and it is good to have all the kitchen and bedroom and washroom to yourselves
I wouldn't recommend this place. We arrived at 4pm and had to wait 30 minutes until someone met us (even though the time was arranged before). The room was still dirty and needed to be cleaned, which meant we couldn't use it yet. The building was loud and didn't feel particularly safe, especially with 1 lock on the door broken. There is no cable TV as advertised, in fact no TV. We in the end chose to find an alternative place to stay.
Great place. It's only a few blocks from all the action. Charlie communicated well and even followed up to see how my stay was. I would stay at Charlie's studio again in a heartbeat.
The host, Charlie, was nice and accommodating but the place just wasn't very nice. It was darker and more dreary than the photos and the building was not clean and smelled. The area was fine (ish) though many of the residents of the building were loud and often argued with one another. While I'm not sure you would be able to find another place in this price range through Airbnb, I would rather pay a bit more and stay at a hotel.
