"Public transport: tram 28, a ‘must-do’ Lisbon attraction & a cheap way to visit most old town tourist attractions and Tagus River viewpoints. If you wanna get a good impression of the historical city of Lisbon, a very good idea is taking this typical little trolley, ‘elétrico 28′. This legendary tram 28 is a tourist attraction in itself. It goes all around town. Of course you can hop on and hop off."

Very well placed, in the heart of Alfama. The view is beautiful and it's quiet, except for weekend nights but one can sleep with the window open. We were well hosted by Elvis and I definetely recommend this plac to stay with some friends in Lisbon. It was clean, lovely decorated and very practical. The sofa bed has to be replaced though, as it is small and not comfortable, and the sewage system keeps bringing bad odours from the toilet, which happens often in an old quarter such as Alfama, just always keep the door closed!overall, I'd be more than glad to come back.
We had a fantastic week staying in this lovely apartment situated perfectly in the middle of the Alfama district. Ana was extremely friendly and welcoming as soon as we arrived and gave us lots of helpful tips and advice for the week. The flat was clean, spacious and had amazing views out of the lounge windows. There were high quality restaurants, cafes, bars and bakeries very close by. We thoroughly recommend visitors come stay in this apartment.
Ana made me feel very welcome, both before I even left the UK and on arrival, and provided a wealth of information on the local area and places to go and things to see. She was also extremely kind in not only booking me a taxi to go back to the airport, but also chased it when the first one did not arrive! That definitely falls into the 'above-and-beyond' category! The flat is a lovely one with great views from the living area and is at least as good if not better than the photos. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The bedroom was very cosy and peaceful, with the added bonus of a walk-in closet/dressing room. I'd definitely stay here again, though next time I'd possibly pack a little less and be more insistent with the taxi driver that you CAN get a car up the street (on arrival, my taxi driver claimed you couldn't and made me walk down the very steep steps with my case - luckily he carried my other bag or I'd have been in a quandary!). All in all a lovely flat, a welcoming host and a very pleasant stay in a beautiful city. Thank you, Ana!
Overall we were satisfied with the apartment and the location. I will keep the review brief giving some facts for your consideration:
- we arrived to this place by Uber, left too as we were with a small baby and quite some luggage - both ways drivers had major problems finding a way - just keep that in mind when calculating timing - Alfama is quite a maze - not a complaint, just a note
- location is really nice and calm, the place has a nice view, it was great to have a coffee in the morning looking at Tejo river, and if you want, there is a place nearby where you can get pastel de nata, just few stairs down around the corner :)
- fado sounds coming from nearby restaurant are not too loud, and that's coming from a parent of a 3 months old
- the place looks like on photos, it was clean and all however it needed a maintenance as host Ana said herself - this we felt was not fair - chairs were partially broken, sofa for sure needs replacing (upholstering at least), there is some paint falling off the walls in the kitchen
- the place has significant issues with electricity - communicated to the host - it was explained as electricity limit per household in Alfama - however I had to use NOTHING else in the place to use the oven - this is a no-go
After a justified complaint we got a 1 day refund on our 10 day stay.
Overall - like I wrote - we enjoyed our stay I think place needs refurbishing though and apparently it was planned after our stay - I just wish we were told that before booking.
Ana who welcomed us and was taking care of the place was really nice and attentive.
The area was like being in a mid evil maze. We had minimum contact with our host after arrival. Her friend Elvis met us and was very helpful and even marked some cool spots on a map. Overall the space and location were great. Unfortunately we lost Wifi halfway through our trip and it was not restored. And just a warning you cannot wash clothes and dishes at the same time or it will trip the breaker. Otherwise we had a lovely time and alfama is a great place to be!
