Private Room in Spacious Loft Share

Loft - Private room · Java St, Brooklyn, NY 11222, United States

The Space

My loft is often described as a haven, tall ceilings, a skylight in the main living space, comfy decor & a big dining table. I love hosting, cooking and being a designer and I believe that is expressed in my home. Details:

- 12' x 12' Room with 12' ceilings & 2 windows in my 1300 sq ft loft available for short term stays. The room is furnished with a new sofa-bed (full), a large desk, hanging rack for clothes, bedside tables & lamps. I also have a futon mattress in the room, so you may choose if the futon or pull-out bed is more comfortable. The room is for a single person or for couples (couples - short stay only), clean sheets, pillows, duvet & towels are provided upon request. The room is equipped with a window a/c unit in summer.
- The loft is a 2nd floor walk-up in Greenpoint & I would describe the decor as "Eclectic Modern"... also, decidedly Brooklyn. The bathroom is shared with me (my bedroom is on the opposite end of the 560 square foot living/dining room). The bathroom is a typical older bathroom for a nyc apartment, but a bit more spacious than most with especially nice water pressure. The bathroom & kitchen are off the main living space. Drop off/coin laundry is 2 blocks away.

I have my studio at home & leave for meetings. But the room is probably best for someone that will be leaving during the day or afternoon to go to a job or explore the city. I'm respectful and tidy and would like the same from any guests.

Guest Access

You are welcome to use the kitchen and will have space in the refrigerator and pantry at your request. You are also welcome to enjoy the living and dining room at breakfast, in the evenings or on the weekends. Weekdays I am working and my studio is open to the main living space, so prefer quiet outside of use of the kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the house, neighborhood or NYC in general. I don't rent my personal bedroom out, so I am often around.

The Neighborhood

Food & Drink: 2 blocks from The Garden (great natural foods grocer), 2.5 blocks from Key Foods (supermarket). Close-by (within 2 - 5 blocks): Troost (cafe), Upright Coffee, Brooklyn Label (brunch), Ott (great Thai food), Vamos Al Taquila (great Mexican), ALL kinds of good Polish food, Pizza (NY slices & gourmet brick oven), cute boutiques & music stores along Franklin & the following bars: Habitat, Pencil Factory, Adelina's, dive bars, Black Rabbit, etc.

I love Greenpoint, it's safe & walkable and has lots of amenities at hand.

Getting around

- My loft is located 2 blocks from the Greenpoint G train, 1 bus stop from the 7 train in Queens, 2 train stops from the L in Willamsburg, 2 bus or train stops from the E & M trains & about a 10 minute walk to the East River Ferry Terminal.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • This was perfect for what I was looking for - a temporary place to stay for the month while I was transitioning to NYC. Leah and Aaron were very nice and laid back and I felt comfortable during my stay. The location worked well for me too - close to the G train, grocery stores, bagels, bars, restaurants, laundry, waterfront parks, etc. Overall, it was a good experience!

  • Leah:
I stayed 10 days with Leah. She is friendly but not intrusive, and makes you feel like her place is your place, the best situation in my opinion.

    Local transport:
The loft is situated about a 5 min walk from Greenpoint subway and feels completely save if you are coming back late. The subway line is the G, which although not the most frequent line, is made up for by its proximity to Manhattan. Once the train arrives, it's about 10-15 min to Grand Central and similarly to other cool areas in Brooklyn.

    The Area;
Greenpoint itself is fab. There is just a great vibe, lots of cool and lots of local restaurants and shops. It will be a place I hang out in again.

    The Accommodation:
The room is of average size and very well presented. It has the option of a sofabed or futon, I chose the sofabed which was comfortable. The room also has aircon which in Aug was very pleasant. There is also ample storage and a desk, which are useful if you are staying longer. The rest of the loft is not average, it is a stunning place to have had the privilege to stay in. On arrival at the address, I was a little dubious about the choice I had made, as the street looks half industrial-half residential and the entrance is a steel door. Once inside, after ascending the stairs, you enter a little paradise of tranquility. It is a huge space, full of plants, eclectic design and charm. I enviously took notes on all the great ideas Leah had introduced to the place.

    Overall Comment:
It was a wonderful and extremely convenient place to have stayed. And Leah and Arron added to the experience with many great recommendations and their welcoming nature.

  • Leah was very welcoming and pleasant to chat with and helpful with the surrounding area. The apartment and bedroom were clean and had all the amenities one could ask for, including WiFi. The bedroom was air conditioned and quiet. The apartment was a few blocks from the main street in Greenpoint, so there are plenty of restaurants, stores, etc. in the area. The Bus and Subway stops are not far away. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Leah was such a wonderful host, she was very sweet and accommodating. The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated and the room itself had everything i needed including a choice of a futon mattress or fold out couch (the futon mattress was surprisingly very comfortable). I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay here again.

  • First off Leah is a fantastic host. She is very helpful, kind, welcoming, and good to talk to. I felt very welcomed in her home and she was great with helping me find things as well as recommending cool places to visit. The room was a good size and the pull out couch is quite comfortable. If you prefer a more firm surface there is also a futon mattress that you can pull out. All in all a great place to stay and a great host.

  • Leah's place is beautiful, very clean and she really takes extra care to make sure you have everything you need for a lovely stay. If you're travelling for business this place would also be great as its quiet and a good nights rest is assured! Also walking distance to great cafes, supermarkets, laundry and an easy subway ride to manhattan.

I had good experience in Leah's home. Leah and Aaron are very kind and responsive. Her appartament has creative style! Leah also has a high erudition and I was impressed when I had found out.

  • I stayed with Leah and Aaron for a little over a month while I found an apartment of my own and I cannot stress more what a wonderful experience it was staying with them. The apartment is spacious and beautiful and cozy with a nice laid back and homey vibe. I really enjoyed my time living with Leah and Aaron, both of whom I can now call my friends!

I am an Interior Designer that likes to keep a very cozy, tidy & interesting (good) looking home. My place is large & I have an extra room to share. I have my studio in the space and I often work from home and prefer to rent to guests that work outside the home or plan on spending their days sightseeing. I'm clean but relaxed, in my mid-thirties and have enjoyed meeting & helping out the people that have stayed with me.
