Kirkland is a small timber lodge in a fantastic location with uninterrupted loch views and a woodburning stove. The lodge is set back from the quiet single track road which runs between the lodge and the loch. You can see otters, seals and osprey. The woodland garden is visited by deer, red squirrels and many wild birds. Whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a nature lover's paradise, you will find it here in the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Kirkland is not large - the total floor area is approximately 50 square metres but the situation is fantastic and it has everything you could need for a self catering holiday with lots of extras to make your stay special. The kitchen, dining and sitting room are open plan with double height ceiling and great loch views from your sofa and dining table. As well as electric heating, there is a woodburning stove to keep you cosy. There is one large bedroom which has a king size bed (5ft wide x 6ft 6inches long) and a single day bed. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and wash-hand basin.
The lodge and garden are exclusively yours while you are here and there is a summerhouse and a picnic bench in the garden. A small barbecue is provided for al fresco cooking. There is also a grassy area by the loch with a running mooring where you can launch small boats or kayaks.
Interaction with guests
We are a mile and a half away at Seafield Farm - just phone, email or call in if you need us - otherwise we will leave you in peace. You are welcome to visit my basketmaking workshop where there are baskets on display and for sale.
Other things to note
The mobile signal is not good here - Vodaphone is the best network in this area. Kirkland has wifi and a payphone which also takes incoming calls.
Check in time is any time after 3.30 pm and Departure time is no later than 10.30 am. We are in a rural area so if something fails to work we may not be able to get it fixed immediately but we are resourceful and will always do our best to replace items where necessary.
We hope our guests will take good care of the lodge and its contents - most people do! We ask our guests to help us and the environment by following our guidance on waste disposal and recycling. We do our best to provide you with a clean and welcoming space and hope that you will do your best to treat the lodge and the contents with care. For the comfort of all our visitors, we do not accept pets and we are a totally non smoking establishment - inside and out. Scotland can be muddy so we ask visitors to remove outdoor shoes in the lodge. Full information is included in the House Manual which you will find in the cottage. Please read to get the best out of the accommodation.
Arrival time is any time after 3.30 pm. Departure time is any time up to 10.30 am. Please avoid arriving early or departing late - we need the full five hours for cleaning and maintenance of our three cottages.
I've been running three holiday cottages for 22 years in this very beautiful part of Scotland so have welcomed hundreds of visitors over the years. I'm a basketmaker and beekeeper, have a veg and willow plot and a few chickens. This is the real rural idyll and we look forward to welcoming you to share it.
